Do you believe religion causes the most divisions in the world?
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 29, 2019:
NO but it does not help by promoting the idea of chosen ones, and God's own people, and one true god. Add to this that religions are some of the riches corporations in the world and have their grubby fingers in every filthy pie including arms dealing and ecumenical harmony becomes far less than desirable to the godbotherers

This from the court record... * Lawyer: "Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?" * Witness: "No." * Lawyer: "Did you check for blood pressure?" * Witness: "No." * Lawyer: "Did you check for breathing?" * Witness: "No." * Lawyer: "So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?" * Witness: "No." * Lawyer: "How can you be so sure, Doctor?" * Witness: "Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar." * Lawyer: "But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?" * Witness: "Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere."

Over reaction much? at least 14 police cars, over thirty armed to the teeth police men, a dog all for a speeder? He was not even going that fast, the film was clearly running at double speed as can be seen by the way the police men are walking and how the traffic is moving and then the police action closes down an entire highway for goodness knows how long. I've seen chases like this on English cop programs dealt with by one cop in a cruiser, no dog, no gun and no real disruption to anyone. I think the real crime here was that a black man was driving an expensive car, that obviously calls for an entire precinct to go on to war footing.

Ultimately nature will solve the problem itself, if we do nothing about climate change, nature will sort it and many of us won't survive, if we do not stop guzzling antibiotics nature will evolve stronger diseases and many of us will not survive it in tact, if we insist in not vaccinating a whole generation will die of avoidable illness, if we don't stop following religion's stupid rules we will kill each other. Ultimately the cumulative effect will be a massive rebalancing of resources and vastly reduced population numbers. Action needed to be taken a century ago, then we did not understand the necessity, fifty years ago we did but were unwilling to believe it ans twenty years ago it was all ready too late but was considered a threat to capitalism. It is still not too late to mitigate the inevitable, but the sacrifices will be hard and unpleasant and a lot of people will die, but millions can be saved if we act, but we won't if it means giving up the three cars, the right to be obese and the HD TV because those are what makes life worth living

I see a lot of hate for what people describe as FREEMASONS. What is the story with that?
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 28, 2019:
IN and around the 17th century the myth of the ancient order of Freemasons began to appear all over Europe and the Americasin the three forms Scottish Rite Freemasons York Rite Freemasons and Reformed Scottish Rite Freemasons. All claimed decent from the guild of Freemasons that built the First temple of Solomon and their three leaders the Brothers Jubal. York rite has 5 levels of membership, Scottish rite has three official levels and an a fourth grade for the "special" members. Reformed Scottish Rite has 33 level, and claims an even more illustrious history claiming decent from not only the masons but from the Knights Templar. None of them are any such thing of course but from the 17th century establishment of the first Lodges and Temples, Mason's have had ways of recognising each other by secret signs and symbols an by their oaths of fidelity are obliged to help one another in business, commerce, law and politics. This lead in the 1800's to the catholic church outlawing catholics from becoming masons as they too expected their male members to do the same thing for each other thus being a mason was a conflict of interests worthy of excommunication. I other religions however, Freemasonry became integral, especially in Mormonism, where the Temple rituals of the Freemasons were stolen wholesale for the Temple ordinances of the LDS Priesthood. The Mormon church also provided an escape root for fleeing catholics via what they called the Perpetual emigration fund, allowing catholic Freemasons to flee to America. In Europe, especially London Freemasonary became so rife in the Judiciary and the police that in 1920 the whole of (old) Scotland Yard was arrested for corruption and running a vice and pornography ring. Though there is still Masonary entwined with the law in Britain, it has never been made illegal for police or judges to be members. From these instances and a number of others the myth that the Freemasons rule the world sprang up and has formed the basis for many thrillers in fiction throughout the last 150 years. They have been blamed for everything from the raise of fascism to being responsible for Jack the ripper, from being responsible for the American two party system and the civil war in the USA to building secret bases under the Vatican so the original illuminate could spy on the pope. In truth it is pretty much a boys club (Girl's too since the founding of the Lodge of the eastern star and The Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons) for doing favours, getting drunk and holding big dinners two or three times a years.

How many people are familiar with Plato's Republic?
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 26, 2019:
Plato's cave is simply a warning that unless you are able to freely access all information you can be fooled from birth into believing what you are allowed to perceive is the normal and is all there is. It is a allegory these days better summed up in the adage that the best form of maintaining government control is the so called Mushroom method ...keep them in the dark and feed them bullshit. Modern electronic communications and wide spread dissemination of knowledge has largely put an end to this, except for those poor souls so accustomed to their shackles and the darkness of cave that they prefer not to turn around and look outside. The blissfully and willfully ignorant.

Here are a few of them You cannot be moral and atheist as morality is god given without god you are by definition immoral regardless of your actions Something can not come from nothing except god who simply is The bible is true because it is the word of god and we know this because god tells us so in the bible God does not send people to hell, they send themselves People need to be saved because of the fall of man (Adam and Eve) which is why god sacrificed himself to himself to get around a law he made, BUT you still can't take advantage of this unless you enslave yourself to him to say thank you.
Assuming an intelligent force (not God necessarily) created the Universe, is it still there?
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 26, 2019:
If it is, it may as well not be for all good it does. It obviously could not care less about the universe as a whole and about tiny life forms like us especially, we are perhaps, given that it does exist, just some form of novelty night light, that if we are lucky it will not tread on, kick or break by accident one morning. I don't think there is one personally, but if there is it is completely irrelevant, other than to serve as an inspiration for arseholes who want a pointless excuse to go to war and extort people.

Some people are simply self destructive, self loathing or are of the mentality that "If I had to suffer this why should others be spared it." If this seems improbable bare in mind that One of the most horrific things in the study of modern history was that there was a regiment of the German SS during World War 2 made up Jewish descended people who had one or more Hebrew grandparents and who would therefore of gone to the camps by law, yet who as card carrying Nazis were spared this in order to persecute and execute their own families and those like them.

LenHazell53 comments on Nov 26, 2019:
Of course the problem is that any collapsing phase space probabillity still only leaves you with one final outcome that is observable and memorable and a whole host of unresolved realities that have not come to pass because they were not or could not be measured and then can not be proven to have been viable, simply existing only in potentia. We are therefore left with the aim of preselecting a desirable outcome and bringing it about by observing and measuring, which is for the greater part what we do anyway. We are of course then faced with the problem that on a greater scale there is not simply one observer, there are literally billions all exerting an influence and producing a cumulative result. The experiment can only present the possibility of a microcosmic and localised result dependent on the will of the eponymous "friend". In finality we are left where we started with the idea that the world is what we make of it and the old maxim that "Creation is an act of sheer will”

There is a movie called The Ghoul starring Peter Cushing, that came out in 1975.
LenHazell53 comments on Nov 24, 2019:
The Ghoul is a magnificent film, made by Tigron pictures and featuring the first on screen appearance of the late John Hurt and Don Henderson. In the film as you say Cushing as the ex-Missionary has lost his faith because his son who died in India could not be saved by god or science, but was resurrected by Kali worshipers with the need to feed on human flesh to stay alive. Cushing as the reverend Doctor Lawrence, is more traumatized by the fact Hinduism seems more true and powerful than Christianity than he is by his son's condition, thus leaving his son in the care of his Hindu Nanny of twenty years.

It causes both directly and indirectly death on an industrial scale It corrupts laws and legislation in every country to benefit itself It practices and preaches hatred and prejudice It steals time and money from its adherents by extortion and threats It attempts to forcibly destroy other versions of itself in favour of itself It destroys families It (and its "holy" books) advocates for the extermination of homosexuals, transsexuals, transvestites and anyone it perceives as being in any way different for its own definition of "normal" It forces lies and ignorance upon children in order to defend its own preposterous claims It defames women It is racist Look I could go on and on, but advise your simply paying a little attention to what is going on around you and by all means continue to ignore this filth if you wish to, but in all good conscience I cannot do so.

On the positive side, one of the three accepted papers has been much improved by critical and extremely thoughtful reviews at SAGE Open, a journal I now consider a prime example of high professionalism in publishing.* (** Please note Sage open is just that a self publishing site for academic journals, NOT a peer reviewed publisher of same ** anyone can contribute and review it is basically an an amateur scientists face book.) *I also had a **rejection** by Neuroscience of Consciousness that was worth more than an acceptance: although my submission was considered not to match the journal's focus,* *There have been less fortunate examples, though. Another paper of mine was rejected by AIMS Neuroscience on the basis of a single reviewer report, * *There is one journal, however, whose treatment of my submission has made me feel so disrespected that I want to share details with you. **The journal is Metaphysica.*** ( METAPHYSICA: International Journal for Ontology and Metaphysics. is a semi annual journal publication of academic Philosophy NOT science as the other journals mentioned are) * "With regret, I must inform you that your submission cannot be accepted for publication in METAPHYSICA: International Journal for Ontology and Metaphysics. I did not edit or shorten it; this is all there was to it. Apparently, a complete review of a 9000+ word manuscript had somehow been started and completed overnight ...for a journal that sat on my manuscript for 9 weeks. * This guy actually boast about the prestigious journals he has been REJECTED by on his own site and boast about self publish works. to be fair Has written a few books on new age bullshit including the oxymoronic "Rationalist Spirituality," "An Ontological Solution to the Mind-Body Problem", and "The Idealist View of Consciousness After Death" So about neuroscience and the functions of the the diseases of the human brain, this person knows about as much as I do.

There were good reasons for these rules being instituted to prevent extortion by the larger studios, separating, manufacture distribution and display of cinema.
