LenHazell53 comments on Sep 10, 2019:
There are two accept explanations for the Friday the 13th thing One as mentioned else where in this thread is the extirpation of the Knights Templar on Friday 13th October 1307 the other is that the last super took place on a Friday the thirteenth day of the month of Tishrei and there were thirteen people present. However others say that with Friday being named in honour of Frea, wife of Odin the only day to be named for a woman makes it an unlucky day and 13 being the first unnatural number (12 constellations of the Zodiac, twelve months in a year etc 13 breaks the rule) and for being the first two digit prime number made up of the first two prime numbers 1 &3) and for being the day half way between a new and a full moon make Friday 13th a doubly unlucky day. another possibility is that δέκατος τρίτος (13th) phonetically contains the names of Katos/Kratos the god of war and Trito/Triton the god of the sea, combining this with a day named after the goddess of of the domestic home Frea may have had early translators of the bible and theologians clutching their Rosaries and thinking the day Friday the 13th invited bad luck and warfare in the home and at sea?

HEGEMONY.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 7, 2019:
Hegemony (pronounced HeG em Oni) is now more commonly used as a name for a particularly insidious political doctrine ascribed largely to the writings of Antonio Gramsci. Hegemony in this sense is largely credited with avoiding totalitarianism in the UK and USA. The basic theory is that revolution comes about because of wide spread discontent, but that such discontent can be bought off by small concessions in law and sociological infrastructure to the ***individuals*** making up large portions of the population without ever actually changing the larger social norms. For example make sure individual people don't go hungry, even if you are feeding them junk food and poor nutrition you will profit from the manufacture and sale to the masses of same, and from the drugs needed to combat the ill effects and everyone is content. In short don't please the masses, please the individuals who make up the masses. *"There will never be a revolution in the UK unless you put a ban on caravans and car boot sales." Victoria Wood* Small pleasures are what are important to people, the bigger picture rarely matters to the mob. Aim at satisfying wants rather than needs and individuals will oppress themselves and each other. This is first stage Hegemony in a nutshell After you Make sure people are not cold, when they are used to being not being cold they will pay a lot to be warm. and they will pay and pay and pay that is second stage hegemony. Make sure to cater to the want for leisure so it becomes an essential to individuals so they will pay for amusements that indoctrinate them in to believing they are content. Make sure they are educated but only with information that will indoctrinate them in to wanting to maintain the status quo for themselves. Educate them for a life of hardship alleviated by many pleasures that they must work for and you have a Hegemonic society made up of a Proletariat that actively wants to be oppressed so long as the cage is gilded has wi-fi and an X box hooked up to a colour TV To quote Prime minster Harold Macmillan, 1957 "You've never had it so good" because if you can convince people of that you have them for life.

This is nothing high-altitude nuclear tests (atomic explosions in the upper atmosphere) have happened since 1958 (at least seven by the soviets and an undisclosed number by the USA but at least 13 attempts, possibly others from other nations) The effects have now been measured and the result is that the earth has developed a supplementary radioactive belt within the Van Allen Belt. IN 1963 an international Treaty Banning Nuclear Weapon Tests in the Atmosphere,(The Partial Test Ban Treaty (PTBT)) Was passed banning Nuclear Weapon Tests in the Atmosphere, in Outer Space and *Under Water.* Today test may only carried out underground, at least officially. ***Edit*** they may not have exploded a bomb on he moon but in 1969 Apollo 12 was ordered to deliberately crash the Ascent Stage of its Lunar Module onto the Moon's surface where it exploded with enough force to cause a tremour of such force that "The moon rang like a bell for over an hour" to quote the official reports of the time.

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 3, 2019:
Another unfortunate victim of "The Conqueror" 1956. The film Starring John Wayne as Genghis Khan had no end of problems from start to finnish, unfortunate a large portion of the Movie was filmed in Mexican desert previously used for atomic bomb testing, then in an attempt at continuity tons of the same radioactive sand was shipped back to Hollywood back lots for use in reshoots. As a consequence within 20 years EVERYONE involved in the film died of radiation related cancer, leukemia, or simple radiation poisoning. The victims ran in to hundreds including Wayne himself and Agnes Moorehead not to mention literally hundred of Mexican soldiers drafted in as extras and Navajo tribesmen used as Mongol extras because they "looked foreign". On top of everything else the film cost so much to make and lost so much money that it bankrupted RKO pictures and so when claims for compensation started to role in from the sick and dying there was no one to litigate against.

Is there phenomenology without a self?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 2, 2019:
In my opinion experience requires observation and or measurement. This in turn requires sentience or a sentient being to perform the observation and or measurement. A sense of self or consciousness is a prerequisite of sentience in beings of higher intelligence therefore phenomenology requires a basic frame of reference between the observed and the observer and that in reductionist terms boils down to "I am" and "that is".

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 1, 2019:
All in the Family was an American remake of the British show "Till death do us Part" which continued in one form or another until the early 2000s Originally a parody of racist, sexist, hateful stereotypes working man "Alf Garnett" lived in the east end of London with his progressive adult daughter, simple loving wife and continually unemployed son in law, with whom he could never bond owing to the boy not being from London but instead being a "Scouse Git" it followed Alf through middle age, old age, retirement, bereavement and to some extent enlightenment. Writer Johnny Speight was appauled in the eighties to discover that "Alf" was being seen as a hero to the right wing racists and bigots he had originally set out to parody and set about reforming his creation The final series saw widowed Alf living alone in a flat in modern London having lost almost everything and his only "friends" being a local Indian shop keeper who hates pakistani's as much as Alf does, a retired Jewish man he knows from his days on the docs and a bullying catholic Irish neighbour woman who sees him as a source of free DIY. As these characters one by one pass away alf finds himself being cared for by his young black gay social worker Winston, who he gradually and reluctantly comes to accept is the only only person in the world who cares about his well being enough to not let him simply die or be put in an old folks home. The last episode has Alf take in Winston as a lodger along with with white partner after both their parents disown them on racist grounds. Writer Johnny Speight's death in July 1998 brought an end to any further episodes as Warren Mitchell who played Alf for over 40 years refused to countenance another writer taking over scripting duties, but instead toured for many years in Speight's own stage play "Thoughts of chairman Alf" until his own death in 2015.

LenHazell53 comments on Aug 30, 2019:
The problem with such semiotics is that quite often a group of one delineation or another take symbols and alter or even reverse their meanings, while allowing the original meaning to remain. The swastika for example in German Christianity was know as the Hakenkreuz and was an heraldic symbol and one of the emblems of St.Michael, in Sanskrit and Hinduism it is the sign for the sun. So today the original meanings has been lost and temples and churches have been vandalized and accused of right wing sympathies. Above of course one cans see the Celtic Cross, examples of which are found all over Europe dating back literally thousands of years, with no National socialist allusion at all. Seeing as how Trump who is right wing and a nazi group used a Lion in star spangled circle as their logo in nationalist colours one can conclude Trump is affiliating himself with said group, or one can conclude that both used clip art to create a pseudo patriotic symbol that also smacks of Hollywood glamour by combining elements of MGM and Paramount pictures logo's to spark a subconscious familiarity trigger

Some here may recall the famous case of Doctor Hawley Harvey Crippen, executed in 1910 for the murder of his wife in cold blood. His name is still a synonym for murderer, though he insisted to the moment he was dropped and hanged by the neck that he was innocent. The two years ago three pieces of evidence came to light 1) a letter written by Mrs Crippen from the USA to then home secretary Winston Churchill proclaiming she was alive and well and living in Wisconsin. The letter was apparently misplaced by Churchill and was uncovered during research for a new biography in his collected papers. 2) The blood stain found on a mattress found in Cripin's basement was from a man 3) Mrs Crippen's death certificate under her new married name was found in Wisconsin dated many years after the unfortunate doctors execution. decedents of the Crippen family are still fighting for a posthumous pardon for their ancestor, however until such time as one is granted in the eyes of history and the law the interred remains of an innocent man remain in unhallowed ground and the man himself is still a convicted murderer with no right of appeal, because of course he is dead, a life cut short in punishment for a crime he definitely did not commit. This is why no matter how "Obvious" it is that some one is guilty of a crime state sanctioned execution is never a suitable punishment, as it is neither a punishment nor is it Justice, it is a public act revenge.

The whole point of the word literally, in such a context is to differentiate the sentence from metaphor, and figurative descriptions. It was and is not an emphasis but has been accepted as such through no other reason but ignorance and the attempts of the largely illiterate to sound educated without actually bothering to understand what they are saying. "*I* Know what *I* mean" is a pointless protestation if no one else has a clue, or because of your word choice believe "you" to mean something entirely different.

Love the comment about "she is feeding them because your god won't" and the feeble excuse to try and give back credit to imaginary sky daddy

Thing is Bedbugs don't just appear spontaneously, they have to be carried in either by staff or guests, they can be got rid of relatively easily but have to be traced to their source.

Kill someone to show just how wrong killing people is The death penalty has a 0% recidivist rate Yet still people kill people, so we have to keep on killing people until people get the message killing is not right. Of course it makes perfect sense,

I love Fred Gwynne a criminally under rated actor, the Ron Perlman of his day.
YONDERLY.

According to the late great Sir Terry Pratchett, such words all originate via race memory from the fear instilled in all the people of Eastern Europe by the spooky and dangerous palace known only as "Yonder Castle", (after the infamous baby eating Barron Yonder) as in such famous phrases as **"I would not visit *Yonder Castle,* were I you!"** Such admonitions usually accompanied by a clap of psycho reactive thunder and the whinny of distant horses. EDIT Unbelievably I just out of fun googled this and found there is a Yonder Castle in Shrewsbury England

We must teach our children to be kind and to warn them that if you punch a bully in the face he or she will likely come back with a gang and put you in hospital. Bullies are a social problem that society must take seriously and deal within early life and stop promoting violence in the home as a good thing. Oh and also NOT all bullies are boys or men women have and are bullies too. We must teach our sons and daughters to prefer peace, war is not exciting or easy or something to be glorified or wished for in oder to make armaments profits. Teach this to all people and deal with those deranged enough to think otherwise BEFORE they become a problem. The enemy of violence is not more violence it is education. There is still darkness in this world true but the answer of to darkness is not to cover it in another layer of gun and bomb smoke. offense being the best defense is a dangerous myth. You teach the coming generations to see the value in peace, and mutual cooperation. The responsibility to raise intelligent and compassionate people lays with the parent or parents of all people as members of a justly governed society that values people more than profits.

In Philosophy and Rhetoric this known as a the Tu Quoque (You Too) logical fallacy and falls broadly under the umbrella of Ad hominem, since it attacks the interlocutor and not the argument, indicating a potential hypocrisy and mocking it. My guess is that Tu Quoque (2 Cock) mixed with the word fallacy (Phallus-ee) was two open to double entendre and was replaced by infantile term in the OP
You really can not make some shit up.

Just goes to prove that Trump has made that which was unacceptable three years ago legitimate again, when your president calls you a fine person the racist ignorant pigs are going to believe him.
