Sorry but what she is wearing is not an hijab. It is an aerodynamic tight head covering more akin to a balaclava helmet designed to control wind resistance caused by longer hair, the thing even has a Nike symbol on it. An hijab is a head scarf and there are strict conventions on what constitutes one, how it is folded and worn and how it is held in place. Had this been simply a case of a jobsworth ruling I would have agreed that it was unfair, but the item is not an hijab it is performance enhancing sports wear and if that is against the rules of the competition, then they were right to disqualify her, doubly so for lying about it.

Hmmm it is my experience in theater and stand up women write better comedy than men however women as performers are more suited to straight roles (straight in the sense of not comedic) as they are more in touch with their emotions and less ashamed to express themselves. (eg Jennifer Saunders) Men are as comedians or comics far more willing to make a fool of themselves and appear stupid in public for the sake of laughter. (with obvious exceptions such as Patricia Routledge and Victoria Wood) HOWEVER in a comic role there is really no difference between the sexes so long as the writing is good and the material genuinely funny. It is very much about the preconceived ideas we as a society have of archetypes of the sexes at a subconscious level. The man as the warrior or lovable idiot, the woman as the great Mother protector to be respected or the sister to be loved in Platonic fashion and protected.

The knots the religious will tie themselves in to in order to find "truth" in the words of the carpenter of Nazareth are truly insane. It is no wonder that when you look up the etymology of the word Religion, you find it comes from "ligare" to tie up, to bind fast. Religion therefore is to tie oneself in knots.

I have asked on social media, did God know Adam and Eve were going to sin when he created them.
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 27, 2019:
In many of the earlier myths that eventually evolved in to the Jewish creation story, the forbidden action, be it an apple, a box, jar, potion or whatever was simply a test, the object of the object was not the prize of the thing itself but the choice to exercise free will, to realize they were independent beings, alive and free in order to raise up to being an equal of the gods. The Adam and Eve myth completely inverted this and made the story of apotheosis in to one of a fall and a reason to blame women for all the evils of the world.

The above is not a Syllogism, as such requires two premise from which a logical conclusion can be drawn. That which I believe you are trying to state, requires two consecutive syllogisms If it is assumed "God" created all things And if it is assumed "Evil" exists Then It must be assumed that "God" created "Evil" Therefore If it can be assumed "God " created evil And if it is assumed evil cannot come from the perfectly good The creator "God" cannot be perfectly good.

Has this season of Brexit jumped the shark?
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 26, 2019:
The serious problem with this attitude is that it is exactly how a significant minority of people ARE treating the who brexit mess AS A GAME. It is not a game it is the future of the nation It is the lives and wellbeing of our families it is the economic future The encouragement of people to think of it as something just to get done and go away is evil, it is rule of totalitarian by fatigue, the "Oh look just cut off my head, its got to be better than the interminable waiting for the blade to fall" The problem is of course that if the Brexit show is cancelled with a crash out, we do not go back to how thing were before we get Brexit anyway and all the consequences there of, simply because we got bored!
UNCONTROVERTIBLY.
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 26, 2019:
Un-: means the opposite of UNCONTROVERTIBLE is an Americanism and appears only in the Merriman Webster dictionary, in all other English language dictionary the Prefix IN-: is used meaning as you say not, hence INCONTROVERTIBLY. Though used as synonyms in the USA they are not. The difference is subtle UNCONTROVERTIBLE means *must not* be contested, challenged or debated (Eg. Theoretically Scripture is UNCONTROVERTIBLE ) INCONTROVERTIBLE meaning that any CONTRARIAN argument will be defeated because the stated position is axiomatic and *cannot* be disputed.(Eg a square has four sides and four equal angles is INCONTROVERTIBLE.) The latter is the word you have defined.
Anyone ever notice that the crucified Jesus is shown in pictures as being both nailed and also tied ...
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 25, 2019:
The word for hand in both Greek and Aramaic includes the wrist, but was translated simply as hand. It was long since recognized that the hands were not capable of holding the weight of a body, so artist took to painting the wrists as ties and the hands pierced. However in Latin the words are different and in the accounts of the followers of Spartacus and his followers it is clearly stated in the Roman history that they were nailed by the wrists and feet. But of course in the minds of medieval theologians the Bible could not be "wrong" so hands it had to be. Crucifixion was still being used as a method of execution as lates as the first world war and it was always wrists that were nailed. Hence when the Shroud of Turin was faked during the renaissance the the image is shown as having been nailed through the wrists, because in the 15th and 16th century this was how people were still being crucified.

Many Christians claim that not being a Christian means you are Satanic, and that non believers are only claiming to be atheist as (to them) there is no such thing as an atheist. Hence all atheist are devil worshipers since they are doing the devils work by drawing worship away from Christ. The technical term is "Bollocks"

TAM O’SHANTER.
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 25, 2019:
Billy Connoly has a home in the highlands Scotland and tells the story of how he was presented with a Tam O'Shanter by a fan. He found it surprisingly warm and decided to use it as a fishing hat. One evening when out fishing a local man walked past, and in Billy's own words this man was wearing the bluest suit you ever saw, the bluest of blue colouring, the sort of blue that does not announced that it is mildly and pleasantly blue, but the sort of blue that grabs you by the throat and yells in spit speckled tones of violence in your face "BLUE!!!!" Attempting to not stare and to be pleasant to a neighbour Billy bid the man a good evening. With all th haughtiness of a true Scot, the man in blue sniffed derisively and glaring at the Tam O'Shanter said "If I had a hat like that, I would no wear it"

My father in a life time of working very hard managed to raise himself from working class to lower middle class and in all that time always voted Tory and held very right wing views. I asked him why once and his answer stunned me "I vote for the people who understand money" I pointed out the people he voted for only understood two things about money, how to steal it and how to hold on to it. He nodded sagely and tapping his nose said "Exactly" as if this explained everything. He is a fine example of the mentality of the poor who feel that somehow granting the favour of a vote to his "betters" will some how oblige them to look after him. He hates socialism but demands his old age pension as a right, his free NHS medicine, eye care and dentistry and will not believe that they did not come from "Mr. Churchill" winning "the war" which they did not, our health service and welfare state are all products of socialism. This is the problem with many of the "Greatest generation" they are convinced that people should know their place, be grateful for scraps, and worship the upper classes as benevolent god who they hope will smile upon them, pat them on the head and tell them what good boys and girls they are.

LenHazell53 comments on Oct 23, 2019:
It is possible that the universe has some form of consciousness, not one that we would recognize as comparably akin to our own thought processes, more likely to be similar to an amorphous entity such as an amoeba. However consciousness as a fundamental entity that exists both inside and outside brains is a concept I find unlikely. Consciousness is a result of active thought and is simply a descriptor to differentiate waking and sleeping, or active and passive states of brain function. It is purely a set of internal chemical and electrical functions of the brain.

LenHazell53 comments on Oct 23, 2019:
There are varying interpretations of the carpenter of Nazareth in Hinduism, some seeing him as an historical figure embodying the missionary spirit, others seeing him as a yogi (see a Hindu view of Christ (Branden Books, 1949) by Swami Akhilananda) Yet others such as Gandhi and Radhakrishnan looked at Christ seeing him as an avatar of divine origin. So basically you should have no real problems if you wish to do this with the Hindus if not the Christians. LenHazell53 comments on Oct 22, 2019:
Spacial description followed by temporal description almost always precedes a physical description, in common speech, probably as an aid to mental visualization. The building before them was ancient and decrepit, for example allows for building up of a picture A building, subject sets up what, before them, where it is, ancient, from when, decrepit how it stands. Descriptors basically follow a variation on Kipling's honest serving men Who/What, Where, when, how, why (Though "when" can be transposed to almost anywhere in the sentence and retain meaning especially if it remains adjacent to the subject) The carpenter (who/what) approaching (where) appeared youngish(when) agitated (how) but purposeful (why) However if the writer wishes to invoke suspense and mystery information is released in reverse he or she might say Before them (where) a decrepit (rot? what is rotting?) old (the cause of the rot) building (Aha now it is revealed to me) the picture emerges slowly as if appearing out of a fog. Purposefully approaching them, was an agitated, youngish looking carpenter. You might also look in to the difference between the passive and active voice to get more insight in to this. A similar trick is used to great effect in Star Wars when Yoda speaks, by preceding the subject with the action or object and finishing with the verb his ever utterance is mysterious and reveals only slowly what he means. "Lost a planet, Master Kenobi has, how embarrassing" "When 400 years old you are, look so good you will?"

LenHazell53 comments on Oct 22, 2019:
If worst come to worst Jason, think about coming to the UK, if only for a break, you'll be amazed just how little being an atheist (or being religious for that matter) actually means to most people, and how to those who do make it important in their lives how it is a source of gentle mockery.
Are Atheists racist
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 22, 2019:
Atheism is a statement of a position on a single issue, the acceptance of the existence of god(s). Atheism is not relevant to ANYTHING else.
There must be something out there, but to give it a name etc and say "that's it" is more than a bit ...

This was the one story that started it all.
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 21, 2019:
I love the "morality" of Christians who think it is sign of gods love that he makes a bet with the devil over how much torture some silly bastard can take before he gets pissed off. The bit that really got me was when at the end I asked what about his wife and kids being dead? And was told in all seriousness that it did not matter because god gave him a "better" wife to make up for it! Seriously WTF?

LenHazell53 comments on Oct 21, 2019:
My favourite tautology is from "The Gold Rush" 1926 when Chaplin's little fellow character exclaims via title cards **"I go now ... and when I return ... I shall have come back"** (in the 1942 recut version Chaplin himself over dubs the line)
Heavy metals in baby food? Noooooo.. I'll breast feeding so much longer!
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 21, 2019:
Scar mongering nonsense all most ALL food contains such heavy metals as Nickel, cadmium, mercury, zinc, arsenic,Chromium, sodium, potassium, uranium, copper and selenium . Organic brown rice, bananas, nuts (especially wall nuts and Brazil nut), and leafy green vegetables, fish (ALL FISH) even water contains trace amounts of these metals and ALWAYS HAS, in some cases lack of these minerals can cause ill health. Only lead is a dangerous none naturally occurring contaminant found in foods, but the minuscule amounts entering the food chain are decreasing as the internal combustion engine both improves and is being phased out. You are more likely to get lead poisoning from living and breathing near a major road than through ingestion. The key word is TRACE, in food sciences trace can mean as little as 1 part per Billion.
PREDILECTION.

Predisposition, predicate & predisposing factor are useful words especially when dealing with hereditary and mental conditions.

When some one's beliefs gives them the right (or lets them believe they have the right) to kill and persecute, flout the law, show prejudice, bully, insult and blow other people up I WILL bash there fucking religion and see them face the full force of the law they disrespect. When they teach illogical lies to my children or grandchildren in the name of their death cult I WILL tell them to STFU When they stand in the street on a weekend telling my family they all deserve to burn forever in eternal torture for not worshiping their imaginary friend they will be fucking lucky if their belief is ALL that I bash.

LenHazell53 comments on Oct 20, 2019:
Well just to be pedantic they don't actually mean the same thing what is upon? is archaic and inquires after the mental state of the interlocutor as in What is upon your mind? Replaced now with What's troubling you? Where as "What's up" comes from what is uppermost in you life? and is a general inquiry after well being. The difference is subtle and stems from Up simply meaning moving higher and Upon being an order in which objects or concepts are stacked or ranked.
I just shared this with a curoius person on FaceBook.
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 20, 2019:
I have seen this venn diagram or variations on it many times before and I have always found it unnecessarily over complicated. ** Theists believes in the existence of god(s) regardless of evidence Atheists do not find sufficient evidence to do so.** Every thing else is either a personal choice or an inability to be decisive. None which ultimately needs to be labeled. The most simple test I can think of is if your child is dying is your first inclination to call a doctor or a priest to save then? If a doctor you are instinctively atheist, if a priest you are an idiot.
Heard about the heavy stone paradox the other day.
LenHazell53 comments on Oct 20, 2019:
The paradox relies on a number of presuppositions all of which are purported by the Christian (and other) religions, but not by secular thinkers. First among these is the existence of a god(s) Second is that given the existence of such, he she or it is the creator of all things Third given that this too is so that the being is supreme and all powerful All of these things can only be taken on faith, or on faith in scripture as being true. If the god(s) don't exist the whole paradox is null and void If there is not a single creator or there is no creation there is no paradox If the god(s) do exist but are capable of lying there is no paradox If the creator god(s) are not omnipotent but have been lying there is no paradox. This is an ontological theological word game or riddle meant to pop the bubble of religious pomposity and nothing more.

I recall as a child asking My mother why there were laws in the bible about having sex with animals, not because I wanted to do it, but because the idea had never even occurred to me until the bible told me I must not do it. MY religious maniac mother was furious that I asked and then even more furious when I told her how I had found out about it, and then punished me for "misusing" the Bible by which I presume she meant I was not supposed to actually read it.

LenHazell53 comments on Oct 19, 2019:
The strap was used by some of my school masters, but most preferred the "Board ruler" a one yard long wooden rule, half an inch wide or the classic bamboo cane. However some teachers had imaginative and much worse punishments such as having you stand at the front of the class, arm stretched out palms up with a hard back book laid on each hand, dropping either book got you the strap, lowering your arms got you the strap, whimpering got you the strap. However an hour of holding out the books at arms length for an hour cramped up you shoulders for days after ward. Of course some of the less imaginative simply threw a broad eraser at your head with deadly accuracy. Of course if you went home and complained you got another smack of your parents for "showing them up" or shaming them by misbehaving in school
