What women should never say to a man who is a complete stranger - or hardly know.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 15, 2019:
What men should never say to a woman if they want to get away with their balls intact: 1) At a fruit market: "that's a lovely pear you have there" 2) in a social setting "Pardon me - I think your buttons are coming undone,no?they are I've made my mind up " 3) In a chat: " do you have a web cam just so I can be sure. I've been caught out by gay dudes before" 4) Reacting unhappily to her comment: "Well, fuck you" her answer will be all too easy 5) After being helped with a major task: "are you sure you are not a man? Most women don't know one end of a screw driver from the other" 6) Seeing a woman holding a large bag of groceries in each arm: "honk honk" with accompanying groping gestures 7) "No I meant the real manager, MANager it is in the title."
Stay home please..

I had this problem with the teachers at my son's school years ago, they insisted his attendance was poor and demanded an explanation. I pointed out he kept catching cold and flu and that I would not send him in to school ill to spread it about, and that because he had a lung condition when an infant could not risk a cold turning into pneumonia. I was told I was being ridiculous and "It's only a cold" So I asked why I was speaking to the head of year and not the headmaster (principle in the US) and was told he was off sick with... a cold. Incidentally their insistence that has education would suffer has proven equally fallacious as he is now an M.A. in English and is planning to go on to his doctorate as and when.
Here's a simple question: Can an atheist consider himself or herself spiritually based?
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 15, 2019:
I find attending church a spiritual experience only in that I need a few brandies before hand to get through it without screaming.
Where to start ... ?
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 15, 2019:
As a piece of art and creation it is remarkable, obviously the result of care, hard work and aestheticism far superior to the blow up monstoricites of days gone by. However as a sex toy, I say each to their own and so long as it is a toy what is the harm, but as a replacement for an actual partner it is again an attempt to reduce a person to a commodity, albeit an idealised one. If anyone has seen the film Cherry 2000 you may understand what I mean.

Organized Religion has unleashed exceedingly more evil in the history of mankind.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 14, 2019:
In the UK within three more generations, (assuming civilisation survives) religion has less and less hold on the young fewer and few younger people are going to church or taking doctrine seriously (thank god, or rather don't) tolerance is becoming more socially acceptable. Church attendance in the UK can be numbered in the very low millions and the majority of those are over sixty. Only money is keeping the major institutions afloat.

LenHazell53 comments on Mar 14, 2019:
Depends of the ethics and the morality of the person in charge. To allow the committing of crimes against the populous in order to cause moral panic, so as to push through otherwise unpopular laws with the promise of greater safety is a common practice. The Burning of the Reichstag was a particularly notable example of this, as was the assassination of archduke Ferdinand. The permitting or instigating of crime has also been a tactic of intelligence agencies around the word for centuries, the excuse always being it was either for "The greater good" or that "The end justifies the means" Two doctrines I find abominable, the latter more than the former.

Open Discussion. Easter traditions based on forklore from Mary of Magdela.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 13, 2019:
The Magdalene is a fascinating historical character, even down to contention about her nom de guerre. You refer to her as Mary of Magdela, which is common enough but is none the less wrong, she is biblically and elsewhere known as Mary *that is called* the Magdalene. In the same way that Peter is referred to as Simon *that is called* Peter As James and John *that are called* boanerges It is nothing to do with the Galilean town of Magdela which was little more than three tents and a Donkey at the presumed time of Jesus, not the sort of place where an obviously wealthy family of two sisters and a brother. Would they or could they live and be visited by Jesus and his hoard? 12 apostles, each with disciples of their own, families, supplies, all being able to accommodated in the home of The Magdalene? This then is perhaps the real root of her name :- Peter means Rock Boanerges means Sons of Thunder Magdalene means Tower. She perhaps owned and lived in a home big enough to have a tower, or was herself a towering figure, socially high ranked. Alternately, she may have come from another place called Magdela. There is a city of Magda then as now in Egypt, but more intriguingly, back then Magdala was the capital city of Sheba, modern day Ethiopia meaning she was probably black. An idea backed up by the proliferation of so called Black Madonnas found all over the Languedoc region of France, a place where according to French and theological history the Magdalene fled after the ascension, according to one source, the Gnostic Gospel of Mary Magdalene, she took refuge from the terrible revenge threatened to her by Simon Peter. It is a fact that the alleged skull of Mary Magdalene can still be found in the South of France in the once Gallo Roman town of Villa Latta or Tégulata, in St. Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume church, from whence it paraded every Magdalene’s day July 22nd. What is intriguing is that in the historical record is it is claimed she arrive in Languedoc with a full entourage of people including her beloved maidservant Sarah. Sarah who is specifically mentioned as “Also being black skinned”. However since her name is in a list of people the other half of the “also” is unclear, but as a maidservant to Mary, who is it likely to be? If we go with this theory for a moment, Mary was a rich Ethiopian living in Bethany (as the bible tells us) Likewise neither Martha or Lazarus are Jewish names, Lazarus hints at being Egyptian as it is a shortened Greek version of Eleazar who was an Egyptian Priest who helped Moses flee Egypt. Martha However is not a name at all it is Aramaic word for Serving Girl. So we are faced with not a brother and two sisters, but a noble woman accompanied by a priest and her servant living a rich life style ...
This is logic everyone and it should be prevailing but chances are that someone will be offended by ...

Open discussion. Zoroastrianism and the influence on Abrahamic religions.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 13, 2019:
Abraham was almost certainly a Zoroastrianist his monotheism and dualism come have come from almost no where else. Abraham introduced the concept of angels again an element of Zoroastrianism (to be clear angels in the patriarchal stories of the bible do not have wings, that came from Egypt later Zoroastrianism's angels are shining beings who dress in black to dull their "glory") He popularised the God and Devil conflict from the twin deities of Ahura Mazda and Ahriman. Many Zoroastrianist converted to Christianity believing him to be the second coming of Zarathustra who had foretold his return as the child of a virgin mother who would conceive after baptism in a sacred pool. I think there is no question whatsoever that The house of Israel emerged from Zoroastrianism.
This must be the time of the greatest number of political agnostics throughout history.

There is a great urban legend about Neil Armstrong. Apparently after the one small step announcement as he set for on the moon, Armstrong can on recording be heard to mutter "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky" as he took his first steps. For years it was debated who "Mr. Gorsky" might be and during the writing of Armstrong's biography it was discovered the Gorsky family lived next door to the Armstrongs during Neil's childhood. Their grandson related to the biographer that his grandfather had been fond of relating the story that Neil must have overheard his wife yelling at Grandpa out of the open bedroom window on various occasions that she would perform oral sex for Mr Gorsky when *" that damn kid next door walks on the moon"* Hence "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky"

Foremost amongst this was the replacement of the the old letter "Thorn" þ prononced "th" it was in printed text replaced with the letter "y" this is why Thee is often mistakenly pronounced Ye and why Thou became You. Guy therefore from the time predating printing could have been pronounced Gee Goo-yu Gie Goye Goeth Goth and of course guy among others Now all are pronounced guy.

GORDIAN.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 11, 2019:
Alexander's cutting of the Gordian Knot is often used (by political extremists) as a metaphor for the dubious doctrine of "Might makes Right" since the whole point of Gordius' test was to find a wise, problem solving king, Alexanders solution was to declared that wisdom is nothing compared to force of arms and that there is no problem that cannot be solved by a simple act of destruction. It is also the origin of the modern phrase "Cutting through the red tape" a favourite maxim of Trumpty Dumpty that has proven intractably false for him, since the constitution of the USA is made of stronger red tape than his little sword is capable of severing.

Two beggars are sitting side by side on a street in Rome.
LenHazell53 comments on Mar 10, 2019:
Reminds of the tale of the two beggars in Rome taken in to the Vatican at Christmas for a charity dinner with the pope. After a fine meal, the pope offers the two men a drink. "What do you drink your Holiness?" asks one of the unfortunates. "I enjoy an occasional small glass of Creme De Menthe." says the pope. "We'll join you in one of them then says the other." The three are given a glass each and as they sip it they contemplate the flavour. "It's like drinking humbugs," thinks one. "Like alcoholic tooth paste." thinks the other. The pope bids them good night and goes off to bed, telling them to make themselves at home and for Christmas night to help themselves to what ever they want. The two vagrants decide to indulge in a little more drinking, but since it is the popes hosptiality to stick with his preference for libation. After consuming two bottles of Creme De Menthe between them, they are drunkenly shown to bed. The next morning they wake to the mother of all hangovers. As they come down to breakfast and parcels of new clothes and a few Euros to see them on their way one of the hobo's asks his host "Holy Father, is that minty wine the only thing you drink?" "It is indeed my son" replies the pope. "Good bye and may god go with you." Out side on the steps the one tramp turns to the other and says. "If that is his tipple, it is no wonder they have to carry him about in that damn chair."

LenHazell53 comments on Mar 8, 2019:
schadenfreude is the basis of a lot of comedy, and is the set up for tragedy when misfortune evolves in to actual pain or death. I can also morph in to pathos and empathy if handled correctly, taking away the guilt and replacing it with shame with the addition of only a little more information. It is a useful tool for the writer and a social learning experience. The current trend of trying to curb and eliminate emotions that "might cause offence" or "trigger" people will rob a whole generation or more of that societal education and lead to unforeseen consequences that are likely to be horrific
