Since the correct pronunciation of this word is according to various dictionary sites Kwanked, I am tempted to wonder if this the word from which the word Wanker evolved. Wank, wanker and wanked have long been an etymological mystery, having seemingly sprung in to existence spontaneously somewhere between 1880 and 1940, as a military term for a despised enemy prisoner, however it would make sense if being quanked was blamed on excessive qwanking? Dialect in time dropping the Qu (K ) and adjusted giving us wanked?

Does being an atheist go hand in hand with liberal politics or are some of you Tory voters ?
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 24, 2019:
Being atheist mainly comes from a need for proof, evidence and reason. It is very hard not to notice the similarities between right wing politics and religion, the expectation that you will defer to the judgment of your "betters" without argument, the idea of a master race/chosen people, elitism, the idea of returning to a golden age, knowing your place and being content with it on the promise of "Jam tomorrow", rampant corruption being accepted as the natural state of things, black and white thinking, rallying to symbols, etc, etc, etc. So often there is a noticeable correlation if not a causative connection between the rejection of religion and right wing thinking.

A pen pal introduced me to a new word, which she mispelled and it almost blew up the spell checker.
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 20, 2019:
This is exactly the type of devolved word I spoke of earlier in another post. Almost every phobia is defined by the use of the word phobos Greek for fear or irrational fear and an appropriate Greek root for the source of the fear. Using this perfectly simple linguistic technique we have the basis for every named phobia with two exceptions Coulrophobia (fear of clowns) since the Greek word for clown is gelotopoiós simply writing clown in Greek text as Kloorn was considered preferable. Nomophobia However is ridiculous because it is an actual existing Phobia Nomos νόμος means the Law, therefore Nomophobia is **irrational fear of the law,** *not of loosing you Mobile phone.* Nomo here is obviously a contracting of No Mobile. Because no one has even made a serious try to create a real word, just a pathetic pun. So far as I can see Kinitochanophobia (though actually meaning fear of the loss of mobility) can be read as the "fear of the loss of my mobile," though I might prefer foritóphonophobia fear of "losing my portable noise maker."
OK.

Interesting this is actually a better definition for the word Caterpillar than the commonly used one That which we call caterpillar was commonly called a coleworm up until the 17th century. Hence caterpillar Unknown Ravager of crops

How closely tied are pride and confidence, in your opinion?
LenHazell53 comments on Jun 17, 2019:
It is hard to say as the word pride has changed meaning over the centuries and is these days inextricably entwined with the word proud, with which it has no etymological connection at all but is used interchangeably with, especially between Proud and prideful. Pryde or prȳte originally as has been pointed out elsewhere was a sin, akin to snobbery or epicaricacy, it meant to judge yourself by your possessions, success, wealth or natural attributes by comparing them favourably to other people and deriding those other for their presumed inferiority or misfortune. It was considered in almost every society to be so despicable that it almost always was punishable by death. Among the native Americans a warrior who was so prideful of his skills or possessions, would be taken, sown up in a sack with a skunk or wolverine and thrown in the river (some times his nose would be cut off first.) Confidence on the other hand is a private thing, an understanding of ones own limitations and when not to exceed them.

They are pack animals and once the family alpha is imprinted on them, they will emulate him or her, even at times trying to emulate pack language, laughter, verbal snapping, simple words like yes and no etc, like wise subconsciously humans also pick up dog body language and sounds, clicking the tongue, huffing a greeting, tilting the head to the left to indicated paying attention even growling. It is even more pronounced with cats who are sly little buggers that will manipulate humans without their even knowing.

You are basically advocating for what used to be called Secondary Modern Schools. Up until the early 1970's all children in the UK forced to take an exam call the "11+" at teh age of 11, on the strength of this their future schooling was determined. Those who passed the 11+ won a place in Grammar School, where the expectation was to graduate to white or Blue collar professions and careers or go on to college and university. The curriculum was based on academics and perfecting of essential skills such as high quality writing, mathematic, foreign and classical languages and the sciences. Those who failed attended Secondary Modern, where the curriculum was geared to preparing boys for apprenticeships and girls for housewifely proficiency. English language rather than literature was taught, arithmetic instead of maths and physical education formed the core of the school, with a choice of woodworking, metal working or domestic science (Cookery and housework) making up the rest of the lessons. The two tier system was abolished in 1975 and replaced with comprehensive schools a decision lamented for years and now replaced again with technical academies and specialist school.

According to many dictionaries empathetic and empathic are synonyms, but in the manner I have always used them, and seemingly etymologically they are not. Bother are contractions from the Greek Empathic made up from empatheia (being in a specific state of emotion) and pathetos (prone to suffering) Empathetic made up from empatheia (being in a specific state of emotion) and pathetikos (subject to suffering) The difference is subtle but I would suggest they connote a matter of perspective I am empathic to your feelings (I am likely to share your feelings) You are empathetic to my feelings (you are perceived to share my feelings)
Matthew 15:24 - He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Matthew 15:24(KJV). 24 But he answered and said, **I am not** sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matthew 15:24 (NIV) - 24 He answered, “**I was** sent **only** to the lost sheep of Israel.” Is it just me or do those translations contradict one another

It seem the more tolerant the majority become, the more fanatical and violent the bigots get. My gut instinct is to think it is a panic reaction, these dangerous morons actually believe themselves threatened. What are they trying to achieve? Do they actually think they can kill all non cis people? Or do they think they can frighten the entire LBGT community back in to the closet? The level of idiocy is incredible.

Depends very much on how you are defining the word believe. If you mean trusting in a posteriori, facts as opposed a priori facts which require no belief in order to be accepted as true, then yes I agree, if you mean believing in abstract ideals, concepts and entities without evidence or mathematical models then definitely not.
London police arrest 5th suspect in attack on lesbian couple

"Police said Saturday all of suspects are between 15 and 18 years old." A bunch of probably drunken, entitled post millennial kids, what a surprise. I'm amazed any of them were able to look up from their phones long enough to notice anyone else on the bus.
It pains me to block ladies. Women need to support each other.

Male female or other all genders have the innate human right to be a total dick head, and everyone else has the right to call them out on it. Beside which it might be pointed out to your correspondent that "Literate" is a superlative, you are either literate or illiterate, the phrase "Not very literate are you." is both nonsensical, grammatically incorrect and lacks the correct punctuation for a question (whether rhetorical or not). She may as well have accused you of being a bit dead. I hazard a guess she meant Unlettered, uneducated or inerudite but lacked the vocabulary skill to say so.
Were's the evidence?
