Where Did the Universe Come From?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 26, 2018:
Existence is, because the natural state of affairs demands it to be so. The alternate is non existence which is an impossibility, since non existence is the absence of all existence, like cold and dark this is only a concept, there is not an actual thing, as that would negate that which is being described. It would seem that if quantum mechanics is correct, existence require measurement and perception, therefore existence requires life, they are mutually dependent and sustain one another, both require time in order to be observed and to observe, to be and to move and to be measured doing so. Therefore the question is moot, the universe is, it cannot not be.
Action in France on affirmative action to protect women from wolf whistling and assault.
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 26, 2018:
Physically assaulting a stranger is a crime, it does not matter what the motivation was, if it was intentional it is assault. It can be dealt with by personal means, verbally or physically (I know from experience some women can pack a hell of a punch) or you can call the police and quite right too. However Now as to the other part of the alleged crime, if some one calls me fat ass on a bus, I am not going to call the police and waste their time, I'd think what a dick, and leave it at that. It's not nice but it is the irrelevant rantings of a drunken buffoon. Frankly the police have better things to do (or should, though I am sure a lot of "officers" would far rather deal with a wolf whistler, than a machete wielding bank robber and so love these new "crimes") 21st century policing as predicted in 1993 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlyMZNURdmc

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 25, 2018:
I find this statement to filled with false equivalencies and logical fallacies. To take the first example, a trap requires prey, since a trap need not necessarily be used to capture, it can indeed be for the purposes of deception or execution for example. How does this concept of a trap equate with fate? Fate implies a degree of predestination, though not so unalterable as destiny itself. Therefore fate is not a trap more a funneling force, a guidance. Likewise freedom of choice does is not indicative of compulsion any more than heat is indicative of cold, only a given understanding of compulsion such as as a simile for an act of tyranny. The second stanza seems to be attempting to draw some esoteric maxim, that verges on the eastern mystical concept of the holistic self, being superior to an objective or even subject life view. Drawing from this the contention that ego is a false or at least social construct that allows negativity to become a guiding force in consciousness. This is inherent nonsense. Finally relying on the two previous points the conclusion is drawn that reality has an inherent though random interconnectedness that is both at once ordered and chaotic, thus indicating that the order of the all is in fact a serendipitous accident. It is much simpler to simply agree with Friedrich Nietzsche that order emerges from chaos naturally. How the conclusion is drawn that there is no "I" without there being an "other" or no "here" without there being a "there" to compare with, from the given contentions is a mystery to me, especially when followed up with a direct contradiction "here" is "there" and "self" is 2other". Proceeding from the premise that I think there for I am aware of the proximity of thought, is a far better starting point than this contrived mess.

What was the worst book you ever read and what made you dislike it?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 25, 2018:
The worst book (in my opinion) I have ever read and the book I have disliked the most are two different things. The worst book was a Sci-fi Novel called Mantis (AKA Eat Them Alive) by "Pierce Nace" Mr Nace as far as I am aware never wrote anything else again and that does not surprise me. 160 pages of a deformed lunatic, cover in shit (literally) using his platoon of giant praying Mantis to visit revenge on the Texas gangsters who cut off his willy for screwing them on a drug deal. It really is as bad as it sounds, and has the writing style of a petulant 5 year old fantasizing about what he wants to do to the kind in the playground who stole his lollipop. I have never seen the words "and then" used so many times per page. The Book I disliked the most was Dodger by Terry Pratchett, mostly because ti was disappointing, and tragic, written when he was very ill and one of his last works, it abandons his style all together, is not a discworld novel, is not funny and perhaps was a last ditch attempt at literature, but fails miserably (in my opinion) reading it was like watching a once brilliant friend, descend in to slow and undignified death.

Necessarily things that are beyond our physical limitations are irrelevant to us and there for may as well to all intents and purposes NOT exist. They cannot inter-react with us nor we with them, even if they do exist and can be proved to be so by being detected by artificial means they still have no practical impact upon us and therefore have no use. I have heard your contention used to postulate the existence of god. However the potential god it could hypothesize would be nothing like any god of any religion that has ever existed and would be a deity so pointless it might as well be imaginary or non existent.

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 20, 2018:
Part of the problem is that though people stop attending church you cannot actually leave the Catholic Church. A few years ago, a chap in the UK petitioned the church to nullify his baptism and allow him to resign, it turned out the Church had no way to do this other than by excommunication. In the ensuing court battle the RCC was forced to hand over all documentation relating to him "IN THE UK" but could not be compelled to hand over Vatican records of his baptism etc. As far as the RCC is concerned once they've got you, you are their's for life. Apparently even Hitler was still a Catholic up to his death, just a very very bad catholic, who did the church a favour by committing suicide which is a Cardinal sin and ensures the perpetrator goes straight to hell, even though Hitler was never excommunicated (Pius the XII repeatedly refused, because he thought a miffed Hitler might bomb the Vatican)

Do you do voodoo?
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 20, 2018:
It is a myth that cursing by effigy was a voodoo practice, it was spread about as a rumour that this was done in order to equate Voodoo (or Vodou as the earliest spellings have it) In Haiti with European witchcraft in order to discredit and supplant it with Christianity.(In Western magic effigies are used in so called "Poppet magic" a form of sympathetic magic where the image is used to represent the whole, as opposed to homeopathic magic where the part is used to represent the whole as in modern vodou where the doll must contain hair or blood or some other part of the object of the curse, this is from where we get the word puppet) It is a case of Life mirroring art, that Vodou later did incorporated in to itself much from European Witchcraft and ironically from Roman Catholicism seeing it all as part of a greater whole.

LenHazell53 comments on Sep 18, 2018:
Priests invented marriage in order to corner the market in a service only they could provide, same goes for sin and absolution. Poets were the rock stars of their day until people discovered up beat music. Because rhythmic poetry like up tempo music, provokes sexual arousal and excitement. Poetry was a way to talk about sex in code. Romance in the modern sense was invented to fulfill a need for people trapped in or heading for dead end marriages to hope for something better, more exciting and less humdrum. True love and romance do spring naturally from friendship and companionship, and some great literature has sprung from it, but on the whole it less exciting and escapist than a rollicking tale of forbidden relationships, adultery, revenge and tragic climaxes.

Grow up and deal with it, there are people who are suffering real victimisation in this world and they are DYING, being tortured maimed, imprisoned and being forced to undergo quack medical cures. These are the people who have a right to complain, in our western affluent society, there is greater freedom and tolerance today than there has ever been, if someone thinks they are better than you because of what is dangling between their legs or what colour it is, they are an ass-hole and you are free to tell them so, but if you go running to mummy or big brother crying because you have a boo-boo on your ego, you're as much of an attention hungry fool as they are.

The problem is yes you can draw a comparison between the RC and other religions, but Scientology is not a religion, it is not even a cult, it is organised crime, an insidious organisation of utter evil, that will silence even their own permanently, sacrifice them and behave in the most sadistic manner of any organisation since the disbandment of the SS
Demonic possession
LenHazell53 comments on Sep 16, 2018:
No such thing, and even in Christian/Jewish mythology demonic possession does not mean being taken over by a demon, the original term Possessed of a Demon comes from Jewish Mythology and means that You have possession of a demon, that is it is enslaved to you. When Solomon built the temple which had to be built without the use of iron or metal, God gave Solomon possession of many demons he could bend to his will to do the construction for him. What is commonly and colloquially referred to as possession is Demonic Obsession, where a so called evil spirit begins influencing your thoughts and actions from within and literally uses you as it as a chattel or possession as a human would them. When a Demon actually does takes over a body and animates it, this is called a transmigration. The popularisation of the wrong term began after the the Film and novel the exorcist used it, saying a demon was taking possession of Ragan, and that it had gone beyond a mere obsession that could be dealt with by a normal exorcism. The term became so popular the RC themselves began using it to avoid confusion. But that is all mythology and fiction, a remnant of a by gone age

Jack Nicholson's first film | Cry killer 1958 drama cult film, Full.

You had me at Roger Corman. Jack was Corman's discovery and made several films for him in the early days, apparently on the set of the Raven he was heard talking to Karloff and boasting he would be bigger than any of the old Hollywood stars before long, Corman came over and asked "If you're so great why are you making this shit for me?" Nicholson gave his trade mark smile and said "I need to eat like anyone else, but I won't have to put up with bologna sandwiches for my whole career." N.B. Corman also discovered Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Peter Fonda (well he did not discover him, but was the first to cast him), Jonathan Demme, Pam Grier, Ron Howard (as a director) and James Cameron. Pretty good going for one career.
Recently, I've been watching "The Real Exorcist" on YouTube.

Yes I turned off after about five minutes, I hate to see the brainwashed gullible being exploited by fools and charlatans like that, instead of getting the unfortunate woman the real help she needs.
