Compassion for animals
Leutrelle comments on Feb 6, 2018:
I am not a FB member. Maybe that is why? But for what it's worth I think it's a worthy subject to explore. Try again maybe.
So they ask about the possibility of "love" at this site.
Leutrelle comments on Feb 6, 2018:
I am here for community, but think your words have validity. I really believe that the idea of like minded mingling, and sharing heart felt thoughts is bound to bring some of you into a real relationship. Best of luck
One thing I enjoy about this site is that many regulars are from towns I've never heard of before ...
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
Thats a creative idea. might jot down some of my favorites and google earth. I also have large world map and I could put a pin in the various places if the towns aren't to small. What ever I do it will be fun:)
Does anyone here envisage a day when religious institutions would be sued to court to expunge hate ...
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
Thats really good question. I doubt it; freedom of religion, and freedom of speech.
I don't drink alcohol.
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I have to watch my blood sugar, so I can't drink which is a good thing for me. I drank for the effect. I tried some of the NA beer a few years ago, and thats when I realized I didn't like beer for the flavor as much as I thought. I wish my brain could tolerate pot though. I used to really like it, but now it tends to give anxiety unless I drink with it. OH well, live is still good W/O either;)
Have you witnessed, perpetrated or been the victim of elder abuse?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I have not. I have always even as a kid looked out for the elderly. I would put myself in harms way if that what it took to stop it.
Please excuse my ham-handedness at handling this subject.
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I haven't dated for 44 years. Well I take that back my wife and I still date. I think I would go about it the same way. Dinner and a movie, coffee and pie, picnic in nature, go fishing, road trip, and of course flowers:)

Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
Why do you think we are here?:)
What do you do to help curtail negativity bias?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I remember a video on the news of a bad dog getting ready to attack a toddler (don't remember the breed), and a crazy cat ran out and attacked the dog, and saved the toddler. That was great inspirational news. Many people don't like cats, but I do, and this was an unusual cat, but a dammed good one. By the way, thanks for for your encouraging words. I like to walk and breath in the fresh air, and I find watching some older movies will sometimes elevate my mood. I also like watching surfers, and extreme down hill skiing shows. But nature always is my most dependable cure for negativity.
Who was in charge of THIS logo???

I haven ever meditated, but sometimes I think about meditating.
Atheist.
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I am pure agnostic. This site is like a water hole to me. It a place where folks gather and refresh their thoughts.
Am I the only person who cares nothing for football?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
No. I liked to watch my high school games, but after that I never cared at all. I have gone to a few Supper Ball parties, and felt like a third wheel. I would much rather just have a barbecue.
If you could change your legal name easily and for free, would you? If so, to what?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I like Lucy Lou, but that would be more of a nick name.
Evidence for a young Earth.
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
You crack me up. Thats a great irony.
What types of things do you take note of and recall easily?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
To tell you the truth I recall when someone has done me wrong. I tend to remember good restaurants, travel routes, fishing spots, political news, and good times. I remember how to repair house problems and autos, tractors, and gun maintenance. I don't remember names well, or how to spell. In many ways my recall is disappointing.
Are you good at small talk?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 5, 2018:
I can be with the right person, and a familiar subject. If its about what I had for dinner, or a great restaurant, and just casual talk sure. But I typically find most small talk is something that I am not familiar with like sports. My hunch is that I am not that good at small talk. I tend not to not care if I fit in with the crowd, and I am not intimidated easily. I came to do a job, and tend to get busy with the task at hand. I detest arguing, and that maybe is another reason I am not good at small talk. If it was not for fellow agnostics, and atheists I doubt I would last long on this site. Like I said I don't like to argue. With my personality it can escalate to angry and nasty if I am not treated with respect.
I've landed here, on this site. Why?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
Sounds like you will get along fine. Welcome
Do you identify as a Highly Sensitive Person? Or, not at all? What do you think of the term?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
I seriously doubt this applies to me. I am very skeptical about HSP.
Do you let your emotions get in the way of rational thinking?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
I look at in a simple manner. I choose my battles. I ask myself is this issue important enough to risk dying on this battlefield today. Usually after I settle down I no longer feel the need to engage. If I do then I can approach it with clear mind.
Do yoy find yourself still saying'bless you' when some one sneeze
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
No and I don't think I ever did. I just ignore it, or offer a kleenex if I have one, and try not breathe.
Anyone ever wonder if the solution to Americas mass shootings was very simple?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
I like the idea of both. I have a concealed weapons permit, and I would like the choice of being able to use lethal or nonlethal force. I have never looked there may already be rubber bullets on the market. Shooting guns thus far and hopefully for the rest of my life is purely for sport. I love to shoot targets, and the vast majority of gun owners feel the same way. Using a weapon for self defense is the last resort.
Anyone annoyed by snotty liberals?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
You have a point. I am very liberal in some areas, an conservative in others. I find my self alone and very rarely share my political thoughts on this site. I enjoy a friendly exchange of ideas, but many times I just hear secular dogma.

Ancient history suggests that atheism is as natural to humans as religion
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
Interesting read. I think that as civilization grew they begin to include religion in order to solidify their empires. There have been atheist in very early civilization, and especially in the Greek culture. These debates have gone on for millenniums, and church persecution probably hindered the atheist development.
Do you have a favorite lyric you quote?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 4, 2018:
Teach your children well, and Helpless. I didn't know any lullabies, and I would sing to my son Joe, Hey Joe by Jimmy Hendrix. It always seemed to put him to sleep, but it did make me wonder what hell was I thinking:) I have Bass voice, so that was probably the magic, but still.

What was the worse job you had to endure? Why?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 3, 2018:
I worked in an Exon refinery. They produced gas, gasoline, diesel, and other stuff. The multi story tanks have to be cleaned periodically. That means using a jack hammer, and scaffolding. Very dangerous and toxic. They didn't have proper ventilation, or good air masks. Could be one of the reasons I have COPD, because I never was a smoker.
Our relationship with food
Leutrelle comments on Feb 3, 2018:
I have to watch my blood sugar now and loose some more weight. One thing that I love is sea food, and that doesn't seem to be deal breaker. But I am not snacker. I think the thing that hurts is no pasta. I eat for survival now.

Leutrelle comments on Feb 3, 2018:
I really love to hear this. The Mayan culture is fascinating. If you ever get chance to see them I highly recommend it. Here is a picture of that stone ring that they throw a ball through. I say having a site built for sports makes them an advanced civilization. Blow it up so you can see it:)

Leutrelle comments on Feb 2, 2018:
Cultures that depend on cooperation to survive would probably have much less problems with rape and murder. My hunch is that the more a people depend on civilization it would follow the less civilized they are to one another.

Do you remember your dreams?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 2, 2018:
I have vivid dreams in color, and those are reoccurring dreams. I am usually flying an airplane. I am not a pilot, but I seem to get along fine in my dream. The planes vary from a fighter jet, passenger jet, to a single engine plane. Soooo much detail. It's like a novel in my head.

Ground Hog Day - Why is this still a thing?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 2, 2018:
Hell no it's not stupid:) It's tradition, and a bit of fun. Beats most of the other news on that day! People need distraction from the every day BULL s**t. I like Ground Hog Day better than Easter. Why do you hate the Ground Hog? What he isn't as cute as the Bunny? I guess you have probably had enough by now. Thanks for being a good sport:)
At a certain age, should people be re-tested for their ability to drive?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 2, 2018:
Sadly seniors at some age should be retested, but I think it will break their spirit if they fail. Many and perhaps most seniors highly value their independence, and they might struggle to thrive if they couldn't pass the driving test. I've lived mostly in rural areas, and many seniors live out of town, and many are in remarkable shape into their nineties. Every now and then I see a senior that I wonder about, especially when I am riding my motor cycle. However they test they need to screen for "kind" people to do the testing, and the test, and examiner should be on video.

Are you for tipping or anti- tipping syndrome?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 1, 2018:
I think the wages are very low for majority of folks. Wages need to be around 30$ per hour to come close to the standard of living I had in the early seventies. Everything costs a fortune now days. Rent is just unbelievable, autos are astronomical, and power bill, and phone expenses, and we haven't even gotten to food or medicine. It costs a fortune to live, and then add kids into the equation. I tip but I understand if you can't.
The first "god" was El.

What's your worst restaurant experience?
Leutrelle comments on Feb 1, 2018:
I don't remember a bad experience in a restaurant, and that is not saying I didn't have one. They say the brain is the first organ to slide, and I can't remember what the second was;) I would have remembered a roach baked in a waffle though.
Facing Pain
Leutrelle comments on Feb 1, 2018:
I don't know the answer to any of your questions. I can tell you as of late that I weep when I see sorrow. I feel others pain more than I used to. My hunch is crying is judged as a sign of weakness, and only the strong survive, but if that is true then we as a race have long road ahead before we can truly begin to understand life. There is more sorrow than happiness on this world. We must grab ahold of happiness when it comes our way, but we must learn to embrace sorrow in the same way.
Hear A Perfect Circle's Apocalyptic New Song 'The Doomed' - Rolling Stone
Leutrelle comments on Feb 1, 2018:
This is the brutal truth of the twentieth century. If we continue down this path of polarized thinking then we surely are doomed. This world must be big enough for the liberal and the conservative. This world must be big enough for the religious and non religious. This world must be big enough for man and woman. This world must be big enough for the animals, and the plants. This world must be big enough for all the living. We must be small enough that all can live on this big world.
Spiritual
Leutrelle comments on Feb 1, 2018:
My take on the word is based on nature. If I have killed an animal, I consider that spiritual because I have taken that animals life and use it for food. I will thank the animal. If the beauty of nature lifts my demeanor and makes happy to be alive I consider that spiritual. When I appreciate the garden's bounty and enjoy the produce that I got from the ground, then I consider that spiritual.
