It's funny you should mention that. I got a letter this week sent to my address but without a name above the address. There was a return address and above it, it said "Gail and Pat". Not recognizing the names or local address, I googled the address and sure enough it was a church. I crossed out my address and wrote "Refused - return to sender" on the envelope and popped it back in the mail. Perhaps they'll decide to come visit me in person when they get it back and if so, the intensity of my reaction will be decidedly more clear. These people should do something productive with their time.

I tried chicken broth but it didn't work nearly as well. I have not tried vegetable broth yet, but beef broth vastly improves white rice although I don't know about Shirakawa rice.

Just to get this out of the way first, this website is experiencing a slight existential crisis and lesser activity, at least on my part, can be attributed to that. It does not look like administration cares though so that might ge a non-starter. Your point is well-made. I also think this group is necessary if only to put in a showing because although I expected most nonreligious people to be supportive, misogyny is alive and well at agnostic.com. I've even encountered a resistance here to gender-inclusive language, which I was quite shocked by. I expect one issue is that this site's membership tends to be older than one usually finds online. Like I always say, thank goodness for the young people! Which is not to say that I don't appreciate the older members of our group (of which I am one) because I very much do. There is also a very loud conservative contingent of this website who disfavor all efforts toward equal rights, including feminism. If you watch, you will see me feuding with them on a regular basis. I'm talking about Neanderthals who won't even support their factual assertions with evidence, so we don't get much civilized behavior out of them. In short, I am very surprised and disappointed that the nonreligious community is not more feminist. When I analyze why I had that expectation, I suppose I had high hopes that they had a greater sense of community absent an imaginary higher, but I was decidedly wrong. But this group is new and will continue to grow and hopefully with more involvement like yours we can build support for our community. Very thankful to have you on board!
