My current location is one that is notoriously hateful. Near PGA village where super rich live but surrounded by people who expected to be rich but the recession forced them to settle for st lucie west. The area is still out of my price range but they expected caviar and are forced to eat pate. Incredibly bitter. There are regulars that are in there every single day to treat every person they encounter like shit. Every trick in the bag to show us that we are lowlifes. Just enough nice people to keep me from going postal.

I live in a small town that is number 1 on the list of worst places to live in Florida. I'm an extrovert that can and will talk to anyone near me. I would be interested in many of the things you mentioned but cannot participate in events that begin after I am supposed to be asleep. I doubt I will meet anyone because I can't socialize. I get up by 3am for work so must be home to relax and get into sleep mode at dinnertime. The time I have available is when regular folk are still at work. . I also live in a dead end town that has few organized groups; I have to travel to a neighboring town which cuts into the available time. I can't even have friendships for the same reason. I am nearly 55 and everyone I know is married, going to church stuff all the time, and working normal hours. Good thing I am someone that likes solitude.

I can see why you would think that but my own mother was/is not a very good parent but is quite intelligent. Learns anything she wants to easily. By comparison, my grandmother had an 8th grade education and was the best substitute parent anyone could ask for. Very intelligent people often lack the the skills to be a nurturing parent. Both of my parents are from Appalachia; I spent my childhood until 12 years there; had relatives without an indoor bathroom; while I always lived in a house with running water, we didn't have a phone, often no power for up to a week, and was very food insecure And I STILL recognize that I benefit from white privilege simply because I do not fear being arrested for driving down the street in a nice car, or walking in an affluent neighborhood, How I am not treated as liar or scammer when I return items at a store, how security ignores me in a store, and the list goes on.
