Swimming. I had a bad experience as a child according to my father and my step father threw me in deep water when I was 12 and I nearly drowned. My mother had to go rescue me so I never learned to swim. I have spent much time on boats but only with people I was related to so I could be assured of being saved Just as I was finding the courage to learn, I tore my shoulder and had to have surgeries and I feel I probably wont ever learn. I faced a lifelong fear of flying last year, stood against the glass of the space needle in the same week and my last phobia is swimming I want to jetski, parasail and paddleboard

Funny that this question came up now. I bike a lot and I dont listen to music in order to hear the traffic coming so I let my thoughts wander randomly. Not many people in my area of any gender either. I suspected when I joined that I would not find a match because I live in a small town full of rednecks and retirees I stay to interact with people that are non religious. I try to log on twice a day for an hour to skim topics. Occasionally I check for new people in my area but rarely find one. And most of them are still level 1 so they aren't actually using the site. If you decide to not use the site then when some future person logs on, then you are contributing to your area having a dearth of users.

Finally! Someone that feels similar as I do about the holidays. I lost my zeal years ago for a combination of reasons such as funerals of close family members on christmas fucking eve and a lifetime of being in retail so I have a front row seat to the spectacle of consumerism and manipulation. That adage about the season bringing out the best in people may be true but my experience has been that it brings out the worst in people. I make an effort for my grandchildren who are aging out of it themselves. In five years the youngest will be in college and I likely won't make any effort. I'm not sad about it, I just do not see or feel the magic

A number of years ago I spent christmas alone and it was fucking glorious. I love my daughter and grandkids but since I left home at 16, I have only ever lived solo for at most a year in total. First is was nuclear family; then marriage and kids; then no marriage and kids; then significant other and kids; then single and kids, etc. About 11 years ago, I spent nearly 9 months living all by myself, but then back with significant other along with his kid and parents; my parents for 6 months; middle kid and grandkid 6 months; 2 months alone and finally my current situation of kid and grandkids for the last 5 years.

My grandmother- who raised me died on 12/23 thirty years ago and my brother was killed on December 18 a few years later. Both funerals were conducted on Dec 24th Somehow supposed to make shit easier they said. My grandmother's death put me in early labor so my son's birthday is a reminder and although my father didn't die at christmas, he was dead before another one came. I lost my zeal for everything xmas after that. I made an effort for my children but once they were gone, I stopped. Now I do it a bit for the grandkids but all of that added to being in retail and seeing the ugly commercial side of it has made it a chore to get through It will get better with time but I just wanted to say I feel ya and to offer the only advice I have: stay busy and work on getting through each minute. Don't look think about future holidays.

When I had to fly to seattle for my cruise, I took it with me even though I had to sacrifice clothing to get it in there On the rare occasions that I forget to take it or can't, I will not be able to sleep I also cannot stand the feeling of sheets touching my toenails so a piece of the afghan is between my feet and the bed.
