What is the common cause of your anxiety and how do you feel when it attacks?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 18, 2018:
It wasn't much of an issue before trump and the recent wave pro mega rich legislation but I would have been looking at retiring in about 10 years and now I fear I will have to work til death. That in turn makes me wonder how I will remain employable beyond a certain age.
This made me LOL. (I apologize if it was already posted)
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 18, 2018:
Yeah, I've seen it a few times but still funny
Who are you?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 18, 2018:
I created my account using my real name. Perhaps I should use my one time change to go with something more anonymous
I think teenage girls look 5-7 years older than their age now than they did when I was a teenager.
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 17, 2018:
When my daughter was 12, she passed for 18 with no effort on her part. I watched her closely because I saw the attention she was getting; when a man looked a little too long, I would tell him her age. Once she got a bit older, she liked that attention which is why there were a lot of rose bushes under her windows LOL Now HER 11 year old daugher has body hair. And other things. The pediatrition asks if she is menstruating at every visit. I'm like, she is 11. Fortunately she is not tall like her mother was so it's still obvious she is young but yeah, girls are looking older these days.

How old is your avatar/profile picture?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 17, 2018:
Yup I agree that most people will post a pic that is not always true. I myself like to use my most unflattering pics so that the surprises are pleasant LOL My current pic is about a year old and do not know if I have one more current that doesnt include other people.
Still looking around here... Not a lot of people in my area. :(

What traits make a good boss? Have you ever had one?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 17, 2018:
Had to think a minute because my first answer was "never had one" but I did. Many years ago when minimum wage was less than $3, I worked for an independent which means I was being paid less than industry standard yet I stayed. Why? Because I had a preemie with health problems and whenever he had an issue she would say "bye, call me when you want back on the schedule" and my position was safe. Because schedules were rearranged to accomodate family issues no matter what our seniority was and although this impacted all of us, nobody got upset because she really was that great to work for. She had no problem saying good job to people. Unsalable product was given to employees rather than discarded but she started with the least paid and worked up to the rest. Now however we have the best perks going to the highest paid. The lowest paid are expected to bring coffee, buy lunch or provide gifts to the highest paid in order to get a few more hours on the schedule. Nobody hears good job anymore. No matter how good of a job you are doing there is always something to critique. I'm serious, I heard a district manager say that in responce to an employee being called "the best" I hate retail but Ive taken this shit for 40 years to ensure my children never would.

Do believe we live in a culture that promotes fear?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 16, 2018:
My earlier comment was off the cuff without actually reading the link or even giving the post much thought. My childhood was tumultous and at times unsafe but I did have periods of safety with my grandmother. I used to be very conservative when I was a young mother. It was a violent act commited against my brother that made me more refectful which in turn started me down the liberal path. Most of my family is still conservative to varying degrees. I'm likely gonna spend all day pondering this at work

Big city living versus small city
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 16, 2018:
Each have their charms. I loved living in Orlando because there was always something to do, plenty of public transportation and other services, a multitude of choices for everything you needed or wanted but it is more expensive, everyone is in a hurry and it's more impersonal. My home town has limited shopping choices, a dearth of public services but people are more likely to engage. And my paycheck provided me with a higher standard of living here than it did in Orlando.

Nope, the doctor checked out everything and said see the eye doctor. Needed glasses, got them. no more headaches and dizziness until I needed a new script. I could never get the cheaters (otc glasses) to work for me but I wear tri-focals.

As a woman, if you were planning a fall weekend hiking trip, how would you shop for it?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 15, 2018:
Coincidently, I am going on a 3 day hiking/camping/geocaching trip next weekend. When it is items I am not super familiar with, I will go into stores and check them out after checking out online. Sometimes I go ahead and purchase at store. I have plantar fasciitis so I bought my hiking boots in person at Bass Pro. Other clothing I will buy online once I am familiar with how it fits. I have absolutely no problem with buying used or discounted gear. My tent is used, and my cooler is one I got with marlboro miles back in the day.

Why do people hide their feeling/emotion? How do you let emotion out?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 13, 2018:
For me it began in childhood due to my mother's second husband getting off other people's misery. The more impassive I was, the more I "won". It was why I so idolized the charactor Spock on TOS. My younger brother died when I was 30 and I was not speaking to him at the time.I had been estranged from my father most of my life and had just recently reconnected with him so after my brother's death my father and I did some talking and when he died a few months later, I was much less distraught than I would have been otherwise.I became more open about how I felt but then fell into a relationship where it was used against me. I still struggle because people attach more meaning or depth to the things I say.. For example, I man I was socializing with mistook me saying "... I know enough about you to know I like you" as a a statement of romantic interest. He was quick to let me know he had no romantic interest and didnt want to hurt me etc which was kinda embarrassing and made me go back and try to remember every conversation I had had with every male and dissect them for suspected hidding meanings. So it is easier to just be an over the top smartass

Women, are we being too picky about the men we date?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 11, 2018:
I've been told I'm too picky because I won't date a believer again. Every single person in my past was a recovering addict of some kind that fell off the wagon because they thought I would keep them sober and they all believed in god. Now that I think about it, all except one had a mother way too involved in their lives; as in grown adults lying to their mother about things.. That one exception was estranged from his mother since childhood but had an older sister in the role My deal breakers are simply no recovering addicts and no believers. My list of things I need are sense of humor, intelligence, non-judgmental of others

Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 11, 2018:
Well since you asked. I moved an olive tree from the back of the yard that simply has not thrived despite being planted two years ago. Good call, I had planted it in sand (my community used to be a golf course). Then I cleared out a badly neglected garden, then I removed a dead stump, planted a basil cutting, seeded lime basil, then forced my grandson to help me with another stump. Stung on the knee by a bee but still feeling satisfied

Would you get plastic surgery ? What do you think of people who get plastic surgery ?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 10, 2018:
I would have gotten a breast reduction when I was younger had it been affordable and as easy as they are now. My sister in law had it done and was in agony. Had issues years later as well. A recently retired co-worker has had quite a few face lifts and it's noticeable but it's her business. I look 10 years younger than my actual age so perhaps it's too easy for me to say I wouldn't do it but I have had two surgeries with one of them being major and nope nope nope

Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 9, 2018:
I have two friends that are wiccan/pagan. One is a solitary practitioner that I have known since we were 12 years old and she has been practicing for at least 30 years. The other one has been one the entire time Ive known her which has been over 20 years. I think their comments of seeing my aura and such stuff is bunk but they aren't trying to force anyone to convert. They both know I'm a humanist and it isn't an issue.

Does anybody else hate the over use of the word super.
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 9, 2018:
I've been guilty of using super; uber; mega; savage and the like. I use a lot of jargon that the young people use because I have a couple of teenish grandkids living here that still like to talk to me from time to time. I also have an 18 year old regularly visiting grandchild Someday soon they will not have time for me and not long after that they will be gone so if my juvenile language offends the people not related to me, I will survive.
How would you describe your personality?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 9, 2018:
Loyal af but downright nasty if betrayed- I can hold a grudge Funny and usually the life of the party but also have periods where I am anti-social Non judgemental about things most people do judge but if I do disagree with something, I am pretty rigid about it and difficult to dissuade. I have a dry sarcastic wit that comes off as mean since I also have RBF but once I'm aware I have offended someone, I have no problem apologising. Unless of course I meant to offend them. LOL
How many of you like your feet?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 9, 2018:
I have been walking on hard surfaces for 35 years as I am in retail. I have plantar fasciitis and the pain is significant enough that I no longer care that I can't wear pretty shoes. I spend quite a bit of money replacing my shoes every few months and spent a fortune on my hiking boots to ensure I could walk in them. I also often double up on inserts as in using a flat gel one along with an arch support. Kinda hurts to spend $50 on beach sandals but a worsening of pain if I don't hurts more

When did you KNOW you were agnostic or atheist?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 7, 2018:
My father was a musician and we traveled a lot. I think he believed in god but we never attended church. I also spent a lot of time in bars while he practiced and met all your typical musician types. When I was 9 my mother married a religious zealot nutjob child molesting child beating piece of shit who forced me into sunday school. I had questions and they did not like answering them. I truly wanted to believe but just couldn't understand how that flood thing worked. Or any of the Adam and Eve shit. I did understand why cain wanted to kill able LOL When I was older, I wanted to belong so I went along with occasional visits to church with my husbands relatives but was mostly just bored. When I was in my 30's, I researched all kinds of fringe belief systems trying to find something to believe in and excused my lack of church going (to protect my children) as a native american thing; I believed the entire earth was sacred and anything that touched the ground was holy. When the kids were older, I went with "the bible is fiction" thing or I was against organized religion. People just assume you think as they do so I got away with it. Once the kids were gone, I was done pretending.

Is Greeting or Being Greeted Import To you?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 7, 2018:
I greet customers of course but if I am super focused, I fail to greet co-workers sometimes.. Some of them get pretty butt-hurt over it. I have a member of management that cannot do a damn thing until he walks entire store getting his good mornings from everyone. If you try to talk shop before the greetings he makes a big deal out of it. Then wonders why I call him a child and have no respect for him

Do you believe unconditional love is possible?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 7, 2018:
My daughter used to be a bad person. I eventually turned my back on her and cut off contact. All my anger and bitterness toward her that sometimes seemed like hatred were born of the love and disapointment I had for her. So I believe you can love a child unconditionally but perhaps your support of said child could be conditional. As for loving a spouse unconditionally? Hell naw

Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 7, 2018:
I quit for good on my 3rd attempt. First time I quit , I lasted 3 years. I quit this last time for going on 10 I think so I considerr it permanant. I had some patches left from a previous attempt that were years out of date. My doctor had also prescribed Chantax. I used half a patch and the chantax at the same time which is NOT safe, so I do not reccomend it. The chantax did not give me nightmares or change my behavior but they did give me dreams so vivid that I thought they were memories. When I got into arguments at work about shit that never happened, I quit using it. That was about 2 weeks in. After that I white knuckled it with my expired patches

Would You keep dating someone who felt it was necessary to keep you a secret from their kids?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 4, 2018:
My daughter is dating after a self imposed hiatus of 3 years. Her children's father is a deadbeat with no stability. Their step father that lived with them for most of their lives, walked away without a second glance. She will NOT subject them to that again. She knows she has a type and still can choose badly. She will not introduce a man to her children until she is absolutely certain he is the one. She told me that is at least 6 months. There actually was one that made it that far and got introduced and immediately started trying to control her after he met them. Exit stage left. Her children are going to be far more important than you. That being said, if you have been dating a year and she still refuses to discuss when you will meet, there may be more to the story.
Why do only some women flaunt their cleavage?

Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 4, 2018:
There are a lot of a scammers and they are getting better at it. Perhaps your messages are mistaken for a scammer. Yes, often times men get nasty when they hear not interested. They refuse to accept that 2 hours is too far away. Or any other reason a woman gives. I once gave my primary email to someone and he figured out my real first name and was pissed that I used a different name on the site. Sent me many rants about how I was liar and bitch etc. Another time, a person connected to my employment saw me on there and thought it a good idea to bring it up in front of my co-workers. Sometimes I log on when I get a notification but most of the time, I just ignore the notification.
This is a question for women who have been through a break-up, divorce, or death of a spouse.
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 4, 2018:
My break up was quite a while ago but I didn't make those kind of changes, I wanted to move back home so I started getting rid of stuff rather than buying anything. I have almost nothing that would be considered suitable for dating. Between a work schedule that makes socializing nearly impossible and hobbies that require hiking boots and clothing chosen for its ability to carry supplies and extra water, I am fairly ungirly. It was a different story when I was younger but the older I get, the less I feel I have to conform to a traditionaly feminine look I do have a weakness for boots and wear more jewelry than a typical tomboy does.

Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 4, 2018:
It was 1979, I was 17 with a baby and if the parents got married before a child was 6 months old, it could have the father's name. More than 6 months required adoption. I had 3 weeks to spare. Second time, I gave into family pressure and married who everyone thought was a nice guy that would take care of me blah blah blah.
Alright.

If all parties are fully invested in it, I can see where it would be beneficial to all involved- even the children since more loving adults cannot be bad for child.
Interviews are stressful, what are some of the best (worst?

I dont recall what the question was but during my answer I said "it happens" which sounds a lot like "shit happens" Had I really really wanted the job, I would have explained it but it took me a minute to realize what she likely thought I said and didn't bother.
What's better: renting or owning a home?
Lucy_Fehr comments on Mar 3, 2018:
My house payment is $742 while rent for a similar house would be $1350 without a pool. Granted, most people would have a higher payment but it wouldn't be as high as rent. I live in an area where rentals are in short supply so despite the costs of repairs, I am still in better shape as a homeowner.
Would you eat lab-grown meat?

How many of you are able to maintain good friendships with people of differing opinions and politics...

Nearly everyone I know voted for Trump although some of them appear to regret it or at least are unhappy with him
