At a certain age, should people be re-tested for their ability to drive?
wordywalt comments on Feb 2, 2018:
Yes. All drivers should be re-tested when they reach the age of 65, and tested again every 6 years. I say this as a man of 80 who gave up driving on my own at the age 0of 65 due to vision problems.

Like it or not society requires some form of government, laws, rules and the enforcement of the latter. For the government to work we require politicians which we elect. Very important is the phrase "we elect" Socrates stated that those who consider themselves to smart to take part in government will find themselves ruled by fools" If we do not like our politicians then we are to blame. We need to elect individuals who make decisions for the people and not for the best interests of corporations which means we must remove their money from the scene and have the people pay for elections! We need politicians who served in the military who understand the role of the soldier and combat. We need women who think differently than men to run for office. A sound combination of these people might provide more wisdom than a bunch of macho men who never experienced combat . The military is there to protect our nation from those who would harm us or take advantage of us, Our government is there to inform the military when to take action and must be directed by a wise government we elect. If you do not like the the actions of the military it is because you did not do your duty!.

Pursuit of profit is always the goal of all businesses including churches. They will always spend the least amount of money to make their product but it was not always that way.I worked 25 years for a large insurance company beginning in 1974 and this company at that time was a very pleasant surprise compared to the prior two large corporations I worked for. this company had bent over backwards for their employees and I could say I was proud to work for them. During the late 1980's management became involved with the church of scientology and things changed rapidly.Prior to this an employee's child was hit by a hit and run driver and the company posted a $100,000 reward to find the driver. Afterward, one had to be concerned that they might get fired for what they called lack of production which was a farce. They rewarded the highest producers and looked the other way if this was being done illegally. They fired these individuals when they were caught without any regard. When I left the company it was because I took early retirement 8 years before 65 and I was ashamed to state that I ever worked for the company. On a Friday I was recognized as outstanding manager of the year. The following Monday I given a choice to become an agent or leave the company. I left.

Thanks. I worked for a major electronic company and an oil company in management and In both situations now over forty years ago, I saw plant operations taken over by robots and computer programs which eliminated at that time between 38000 and 40000 jobs. The first company at that time employed 172900 jobs and the second about 134000. These two companies today employ 81000 and 93000 jobs. Both are larger firms than they were back then.Guess what changed. Management was reduced because the computer did away with their jobs as were line people. Robots decreased line jobs by the thousands. This is only two companies that I am very familiar with . Not all the jobs the republicans speak of went overseas they were reduced by automation which do not need pension plans , health insurance, vacations, unions (which were broken by this program). To believe that the programs introduced by trump is going to make many more jobs is questionable? We have full employment by today's numbers but at extreme loss of benefits for the workers. Their pay is lower than when unions ruled; other benefits have been reduced like vacation time, health ins,and safety on the job. trump hates OSHA as do republicans in general as they reduce profits. I do not know what the future holds for the working class but it does not look good unless a great deal of change is made in our education now!

Don't forget Ike in our lifetime. The military that served in Vietnam we Treated very very poorly and many became homeless because our government was not and still is not prepared to service those who have returned from combat. We are extremely poor at taking care of our veterans. There should not be a need for charities to help the vets it should be the government especially with the amount of waste among the army, navy Marines and air force. In addition we win a war and then rebuild what we destroyed which I cannot understand. If they were the enemy nothing changes after the war. Note: it is not the enlisted that are to blame for the waste rather politicians that vote for arms that none of these branches want or need.. I saw this first hand when I was in and nothing has changed. However MOST IMPORTANT NOW IS THE NEED FOR SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN TO RECIEVE THE CARE NECESSARY AFTER THEIR TERM IS OVER. IT IS NOT HAPPENING.PLEASE DO WHAT EVER YOU CAN TO CHANGE THIS POLICY! THANK YOU EVERYONE.

I would have two terms for both house and senate and age 75 for Congress and the Supreme Court. It is my belief that these limits are necessary to be relative with the time and culture they are living in. Menbers could serve two terms each in both chambers as a max. Strong ethics requirements should be in place so there would not be any questions. The positions that allow members of Congress to do insider trading would be eliminated. Health and retirement saving should be the same for Congress as the rest of the population. Time away from the Congress would be strictly watched. Campaigns should be paid for with public funds and campaigning should be limited the 120 days before election.

They should know who the father is. Support for the child is often taken by the father for his own support. This is why he has children with a number of women. This is terrible but if we name the father the government can come after him.and hopefully reduce the number of incidents like this. Many of the welfare rolls are uneducated women who left school when they were pregnant or men who just dropped out unwisely. It is more likely to get these people off welfare if they have some education. Those who just cannot do the work fall into another class.

There is plenty wrong with the downfall of America and I will not permit it as long as I live.We have been the backbone of democracy in the world which has prevented many people from living under deranged dictators and assorted nuts. However, it does not mean we have not made mistake's. I personally would not want to live anywhere else and I am very thankful that I was born in the USA .
