Since Ladybird Johnson began restoring prairies along the interstates we have made lots of progress. Mowing is necessary to keep the trees from replacing the prairie. It should be done after the ground nesting birds have fledged. I remember when it began in the 1960's. The interstate highways are an adjunct to the migration in that they provide pollinator habitat for miles. A census of how many monarchs are taken by autos might be a starting point.

No Not ALL of anything are homeless in SF. But the mentally ill which includes the vets & drug addicts which compose a large part of the homeless. These 2 types can not hold down a job, handle finances, deal with beaurocracy. So without socialist programs to keep them off the streets & in treatment it is every nut job for themselves. Sort of like the 1800s when the street was full of people who could neither function, not afford any living quarters. Hence the attraction to SF with a tolerant attitude towards them. SF has a history of attracting the square pegs of this round world. That is the reason I left my heart their.

As a lifelong union members I was aghast at how other members would vote for anti union candidates. It was enraging that they voted with emotion & not logic. "I just don't like her". So? She supports your interests you dumb fuck. They are a cult. Reason doesn't work on them.& I also find they think it is ok to use slurs like the word "Japs". and he isn't Japanese. I'm not really into boycotting. It usually doesn't do anything and when it does it only ever hurts the rank and file employees who can't afford to be picky about who they work for.

@dld73 Big pharm. Massively large corporations that work together funding our representatives via lobbiests, political contributions, in order to keep cannabis out of the hands of the citizenry. Insurance won't cover cannabis use, doctors won't prescribe cannabis use, banks won't accept cannabis money, and large pharmacudical companies (i.e. "big pharma") work to keep it illegal and out of my garden.
