Seinfeld will remain the touch stone for me. Larry David is brilliant tho I can not stand to watch him shuffle around. The show always addressed edgy topics in a most obtuse manner. Also insignificant situations that effect us all. Elaine finds out Putty is a Jesus Freak. Laughing right this moment. Most shows that entertained me are so often cancelled. This is because I am the antithisis of mainstream interests. I do prefer knowlege to entertainment but I tend towards Canada & the BBC & of course PBS.

Well one might define "real liberal". The dictionary describes liberal as tolerant. Conservative as desiring little or no change. Both a little general but then as we decide who is or isn't are we spitting hairs. Corruption is a human trait. How do we address corruption other than law, government oversight & enforcement? Religion is one method of addressing human corruption tho it too is corrupt. How do we in corrupt ourselves or control it in others?

People want stuff. I love the idea of Xmas. The practice has declined into a ravenous orgy of commercial gluttony. The idea of giving is lost. I give to the propane delivery. He makes sure I am well stocked for the dark cold months. The mail carrier. Working outdoors all year has my respect & & show it. I give to 10 of my favorite 501C3 organizations. In the past I would shop all year in that when I saw something I know so and so would love, I would purchase & wrap it for the coming season. I so enjoyed the giving. Also the decorations on State Street in Chicago were relished by anyone who enjoyed the creative displays. Then Jayne Byrne malled (mauled) the street & the entired atmosphere changed. Plus I am sick of It's a Wonderful Life when the Gift of the Maji is so ignored. If I had children I would honor the tradition with much explanation. If I had family that observed perhaps I might relinquish my distain for the current culture of excess. But I do not so I will not. =0{

Retired at 53 after working since 16. What I do now is what ever the weather or my health permits. This usually consists of outdoor activity. Mostly the pursuit of natural sounds unimpeded by human interaction.

High school I knew I had to make it to graduation. 4 years of suffering. But what saved me is that by keeping my grades up I was able to take a course the last 2 years that permitted me to leave school at the half & go to work for credit. Although no veternarian would hire me, I did end up working for the telephone company as an operator. The minimum wage was $.75 an hour at that time & I was making &1.25 to start. Then there was paid vacation etc. But that too was suffocating so I baile in 1972 & went traveling to Israel, France, Greece, Italy, Switzerland & England. Traveling is not suffocating at all. Just pick up & go.

Tipping was instituted in order for employers to avoid paying wages when emancipation of our slave citizens occurred. There are good & bad elements of this system. There is no requirement to tip so there is work sans monetary compensation. Then too it is cash so it can go unreported & thusly un taxed for good or naught. I am a big tipper, 20% & above, as I know what the receiver is up against. I believe in paying it forward & that generousity is its own reward.

It is my belief that slavery is alive, and more wide spread than any time in human history.

The bracero program with Mexico was instituted to compensate agricultural conglomerates from paying a descent wage for jobs Americans will not do. Then there is share cropping. Remnants of slavery in many ways is still with us. In North Africa & areas of Asia it is more common than you might believe beginning with child labor.

The Mid terms are generally ignored but not by me. It is a check on the administration currently in power & voting ONCE every 2 years is not too much to ask. If you raise the chick from its 1st 3 days post hatch, they will be life long friends, as they bond so hard. I made diapers out of plastic bags so they could be indoors occationally without the challenge of their toilet issues. Such good friends they followed me everywhere. Until the resident Cooper's Hawk took them. Powder & Gendoline. White & brown Polish. Bred by the Polish as pets. At least they went to a good cause. I now protect my flock better than previously. Live & learn. I also bred finches for awhile. Aqurium fish. Madagascar cockroaches. The kind they use in horror movies. Had 'em in a sealed aquarium until my cats had a party with them. I am a near vegetarian which means I do not choose cadavers for my protein. I raise my own chickens for eggs & consume dairy in the form of real cheese. No processed corporate food. I agree with TjallTjallOUTLK in that the secret to success is consuming foods from many cultures. The northern euro diet is not a healthy one unless one is surviving outdoors with major physical labor. Carrion eaters contribute to the desecration of the land via open range cattle, hog farms replete with antibiotic resistant microbes, & cruel slaughter & housing practices. I gave up eating corpses 40 years ago when I became enlightened to the issue.

High cornsyrup, hydrogenated vegetable oil, and any franken food dyes. Brown & white food other than real potatos,. The kind that are from the ground other than Idaho which all are GMO & corporate. So that should leave only real food. The kind with many colors & that I have to cook myself or eat raw. As a near vegetarian I do not stalk carrion in the market place with the other scavengers. My health is great & people say I look 20 years younger than my counter parts. Then they order a big Mac with 2 large fries & a large Coke, as they wait for their monthly doctor's appointment to handle their obesity, high blood pressure, high colesteral. The whining about all of their health problems cause me to avoid most gluttonous Americans.

Sexless marriage

Marriage has many differnt purposes tho our culture doesn't recognise such. Marriage is for love only via our pop music, rom coms, & romantic dramas. It is dictated by hormones. As I have rejected most elements of our culture early on in my life I find a sexless marriage ideal. I have no interest in spawning. My portfolio is stable & productive. The marriage is open in that a liason to my or his liking is open to pursue. We get tax benefits for filing jointly. I get the security of having a male around to fend off unwanted attention. He gets the security of my parenting him. There is little better than solo sex. I know what & when it pleases me. It is always available. It is safe. The committment is to myself. It is uncomplicated. Self preservation is not selfish. We both are content with the arrangement. Different strokes. Literally. =0}

Thoughts on chimps and bonobos

Thusly we homo sapiens are more like chimpanzes than bonobos. Bonobos use sexual proclivity as an outlet for stress & to facilitate cohesion in a group. Some humans do this but are the exception. Most human males compete for alpha status either vicariously thru sports teams or thru direct action resulting in saloon brawls. The females of our species are retiscent to engage any or all males in a sexual manner, as a 9 month gestation & a 7 year involvement in child rearing requires a village or a committed mate. Then too there is the disease factor. So some women may seek promiscuity but are in the minority also. Warfare is merely seeking resources, reproductive control & religious enforcement all of which are closely pursued by us & the chimpanzee. The bonobos have resolved this with what seems to be social or communal sharing. Hence social...ism or communal....ism. I personnally can not do either. I choose isolation from both systems.

I live off of the grid every summer on my 35 acre property with a stunning view of Mesa Verde. It is called camping or being homeless. It can get tedious hauling fresh water & trying to avoid the 7000' above sea level sun. But the stars are beguiling, the quiet intoxicating.

Our salvation will be the browning of America. Even now, television commercials show inter racial couples where it once was controversial. The next generation will be even closer to absolving this issue. We are only 150 years from emancipation & only 60 years from the abolishon of Jim Crow. We as Americans based our slave culture on race where other slave holding nations based/base it on economic status or birth. A blind date along with 2 people who were the definative cretins. I was 22 had just dropped some acid & she calls begging me to come along on the date & meet her cousin. I ended up in a row boat in the middle of Lake Geneva Wisconsin with her making sanwiches consisting of 2 pieces of bread & a piece of cheese. Her date extolled her sandwich making expertise by saying " Gee. You make good sandwiches." Aarrrgh!! I still I have residual PTSD from the LSD imprint on my grey matter. Altho I took acid trips again, I never went on a blind date trip or a row boat trip, becoming a passive hostage in the middle of a lake, with infantile word smiths.
