I think an unbaptised child goes to "limbo" where they float about for eternity. I remember being told by an RC work colleague that when he died he went to purgatory for a spell before entering heaven. I think many are intelectually lazy. They go to church a couple of times a week to have their "faith" reinforced by listening to select passages from the bible and probably do not open the book for the rest of the week. At one time the "good book" was only published in Latin so that only the educated priests could read it so as to control the masses better. After the reformation the church of Scotland opened "grammar schools" throughout the country so that the people could learn to read and could read the scriptures for themselves. This probably backfired to an extent as some began to realise they were being conned and great thinkers such as David Hume emerged.

I hope the landlord is successful in suing for unfair dismissal. Some pub owners/landlords do behave like dictators. There is a famous pub in Edinburgh that used to be very busy. The new owner has a sign outside the door saying "no gypsies or students" It is always very quiet now. I was once told to leave a bar because I had long hair. Of course the landlord didn't say that. He said it was because I wasn't wearing a tie but there were several short haired guys in the bar not wearing ties. My mates and I ignored him for a bit then he suggested we all go down to the bottom of the garden to sort it out like men. He was a podgy middle aged man we were four super fit guys in our twenties. He was obviously suffering from early onset dementia so we took pity on him and left his pub.

I think it is a bit unfair to group all men together like this. I grew up in a household where my father worked and brought home (a meagre) pay and my mother did everything in the house. My father could just about make a cup of tea. I remember as a fifteen year old looking after him when my mother was in hospital. Like my siblings I moved out of the family home at 16 to bedsit land and had to learn to cook or starve. Certainly some of my schoolmates left the family home to get married and probably perpetuated this pattern but many men now take their share in all the chores. I do most of the cooking in our household as I am retired and my partner still works and to see my son confidently handling, changing and feeding his new son was amazing. I don't think colonisation can ever be justified but for example under the Ottoman empire Muslims.Jews and Christians coexisted quite happily but when the empire was broken up the trouble started. Same in India under the British Raj, but at partition all hell broke loose. There are some horror stories coming out of Canada at the moment. Because of the disruption of the Indigenous culture and removal of children from families to "Christianise" them the close family units have been disrupted and young women in particular are suffering. the meaning of words change over time and although an illusion is a deceptive impression of reality, to be disillusioned now tends to mean to lose faith in an ideal. there is not necessarily anything wrong with being disillusioned if the ideal was false in the first place. eg the football fan was disillusioned with the running of his club as they were at the bottom of the league.

Both words are used far too much. People say that they love ice cream. No they don't. They just like the taste and texture and may get a sugar rush for an hour. Much the same here. I grew up in a small village in NE Scotland which had three shops a filling station a post office and for a spell a pub. Now all of those have gone. The village I now live in has a two shops. I regularly buy some groceries from them although it is more expensive than the supermarket in town.
