Because of one one side you have Roman catholics and on the other Protestants. Bin Laden came from a wealthy family so if if he wanted to help the poverty and inequalities in the Muslim world why not use some of his families wealth for that instead of blowing people up. I don't think "fate" is a very good word to use as it implies some supernatural influence or force. Certainly we are at the mercy of the environment we live in. Chance or luck plays a large part in our lives. There is an ongoing debate about how much control we actually have over our lives. Some "experts" think we have very little and are at mercy of our genetic makeup whist others think we have the ability to do as we please. A sort of nature/nurture debate. I think the truth is actually somewhere in the middle and can vary greatly from person to person.

I attended sunday school from the age of 5 to 15 in the Church of Scotland, which is quite puritanical compared to some branches of Christianity but I cannot remember any of this. It was something I had to do which spoiled my sunday but that is all. Maybe it was because we had no Christian rituals or indoctrination at home.

I have heard this expression so much recently and I was never sure exactly what it meant so I looked up a definition as follows -:" passive aggressive behaviour takes many forms but can generally be described as a non-verbal aggression that manifests in negative behaviour. It is where you are angry with someone but do not or cannot tell them. Instead of communicating honestly when you feel upset, annoyed," Now I am sure I am going to be shot down here but in my experience women are more likely to .exhibit this type of behaviour than men. Eg the man comes home from work and gets a frosty reception because of some slight, real or imagined and he has no idea what he has done whereas the man is more likely to be overtly aggressive in words or actions..

Could it be because of the European enlightenment ?.Many people emigrated from Europe before and during the enlightenment so they had the earlier religious mindset.
