Not in the modern sense of having lots of possessions but in dismissing anything mystical or spiritual. Probably anything that cannot be explained by science, although quantum physics is so weird that it goes totally over my head.

Russell Brand put together a documentary about the opioid epidemic in Britain. Their answer is to maintain all the addicts on methadone; indefinitely. Its worth watching.

@MsDemeanour We don't have any second hand book shops around here but I did spend some time in a few in Edinburgh. there was one next door to a shop selling second hand vinyl albums. Between the two a great way to waste a few hours. As for reading in bed. Much better than any sleeping pill. Nothing too stimulating, maybe a serious science book, and when the book slips from your fingers switch of the light and into the land of nod.

Admittedly we have gone a bit overboard in the UK with mini roundabout on every minor junction with roads so narrow that you have to drive over them instead of round them but at least it lets you know who has right of way.

They espouse capitalism but probably not globalism. secularism and gender equality and racial equality. Others may add or remove some things but I think the main things are there.

It's stupid because the cats can carry disease that may be transmitted to farm animals. This happened at a farm where my ex kept her horse so she took one of the kittens home. It hated being in the house and eventually lived out side and appeared to be fed.

They are already accused of victimisation of Muslims with stop and search powers and if the meaning of Islamophobia is broadened it would make their job more difficult for example asking Muslim woman to remove face veils would be considered an attack on "Muslimness"

@Novelty I did read it and if he is serious it is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard .. They went extinct thousands of years ago and .the melting of the permafrost is a recent phenomena.

I think theoretical physics should get a class of it's own. The maths (please not math) show it to be true but much of it we are unlikely to be able to prove.
