I watch English premier league football regularly and more than a few cross themselves when going on to the pitch. Of course many are from Roman catholic countries in Europe and South America so it is probably just a habit. As for being conservative or liberal, they are grossly overpaid so it is likely that they lean to the right as wealth and conservatism tend to go together.

But is it fast enough ?.I read book recently on climate change written in 2006 and the author was bemoaning the fact that in the UK we only produce 2% of our electricity from renewable resources. No. it is a barbaric practice and totally unnecessary apart from a few cases. It is not so common in the UK apart from religious reasons but seems to be common practice in the USA. Probably just a habit but the medical profession should counsel against it.. With privatised health care it probably makes them some money. Normal hygiene is all that is required for health reasons. My sons have not been circumcised

Depends what you mean by total isolation. I wouldn't fancy being locked in a cell for five days but to spend five days without seeing another person would be no big deal. for example living in a remote cabin with a few good books. There was a an early pop song with the words "people who need people are the luckiest people in the world". Absolute nonsense. People who are self contained and can live without human contact are the lucky ones.
