I was 8 yrs old when I asked the priest, "If god created heaven and earth, where was god before that?" His response was the tired old catholic mantra, "God always was, god always is, god always will be." Well if you can't fool an 8 year old...
I pretty much became agnostic at that point. Catholic High School made me an atheist. Seriously was not logical unless you followed the money/power trail. I kept it to myself having lived all over the country until I moved to Floriduh in '96. Then I became a more vocal atheist. Militant at first, but I've mellowed somewhat since. Now I just want to be happy. An atheist is one of many things I am but not all encompassing.
