Hope everyone had a satisfying weekend. I know I did.

Mine wasn't as satisfying as that picture would indicate but it was productive and a few of the conversations I had made me hey all warm and fuzzy inside. I call that a great weekend.

Question 15: What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 19, 2018:
The thing which has impacted my life the most in a positive manner is that I have learned to love unconditionally. Most of us, whether unconsciously or by choice, put conditions on our love. How can I love you when you've lied to me in the past? Should I love someone who wants to sleep with other people? I don't think I love you anymore because of that thing you did. You don't love me, then I don't love you either. I love. I am a romantic and I fall hard and fast for those who capture my attention. I care about other human beings even if I don't know them personally. I don't have time to waste on hating people. Sometimes it is hard to let go of someone you love because you want them in your life in a certain capacity, but in the end it is their happiness that matters and it makes my heart swell to see them flourish even if I am not there to kiss them and celebrate those victories. I love. I celebrate my own victories and I have people that love me just as much as I love them. It is a beautiful thing and my life is so much more satisfying ever since I have learned to let myself love freely and with abandon.
At 60, I still feel "uncomfortable" with younger people calling me "sir".
Nukdookum comments on Nov 19, 2018:
I use "Sir" and sometimes "Syr" as a sign of respect. I don't think of it as something which means "Old". There are many people that I call Sir who are much younger than I am.

Men look at my profile at a of 5-1 more than women.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 19, 2018:
There are men who look at my profile. There are men who hover. There are men who follow my posts. I don't think about it enough to calculate what percentage of men vs women look at my profile so I don't know if 5:1 is the norm. I would assume that whatever the member ratio I might attract a similar ration of visitors but then again it doesn't matter to me who is looking. All that means is that I am an interesting individual and folks want to know more about me. That's a good thing! EDIT: I just counted the first page of my "viewed" list. Out of the 40 listed there 8 were women. So yeah 1 woman for every 4 guys. I think that may be the ratio of men to women on this site.

It still amazes me when people misinterpret the "freedom of speech" to include "freedom of repercussions" in a capitalist society. You are free to run your business any way you see fit, just like everyone else is free to run their business in ways that they see fit. If your views are such that other people don't want to spend money with you that it your freedom at work. Chick-Fil-A has a Christian agenda. It still makes enough money to stay in business because it has a solid customer base without those who have withdrawn their support. I applaud anyone who has principles and chooses to stick to them. Good on you, even if I don't agree with those principals. However, don't belly ache when others choose to use their own freedom to frequent other businesses because your business does not include all of today's society in it's list of valued customers.

Words can lie. So can people in face to face meetings. I don't judge or pigeonhole folks but based on the words that they use I do make determinations on whether they will be a good match for me. I have to assume that anyone here who is looking for a relationship isn't being dishonest. They're is nothing to be gained from marketing yourself as anything different from who you are.

I can't say that there is. I chase my dreams and find ways to make them come true.
i enjoy privacy for personal grooming.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 18, 2018:
I respect boundaries. If my partner needs space and privacy to do certain things and not others then I will respect those boundaries and keep to myself. For my part, once I've opened myself up to a partner they know intimate details about me. Once we've had sex they know what my body looks like and the sounds that are made doing it. If we've reached that level of intimacy then I don't have any problem sharing space with my partner during any other natural body functions or maintenance activities. My master bath has two sinks but that is mostly to insure that my stuff can sit on my counter next to my sink and their stuff can sit on the other counter, not so I can spy on them while they floss. The toilet has its own door so that can be shut without stopping my partner from getting ready at the sink.

Question 13: Today's question sucks putty balls.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 17, 2018:
This is an original painting by one of my favorite artists. This one is called "Jealous Pets". She falls in love, binds them deeply to her, and then mercurial as a spring storm, discards her old love for the new. They never forget her, though, always yearning, always at a respectful distance, always hopeful… That was the story that she wrote about the painting. I find the tragic love stories to be beautiful in a melancholy kind of way. I really wish I had better words to describe it but I found this piece to be beautiful. As a side note the goddess in the painting is holding a swan. As a patron of hers, I follow her work and antics on patreon, I know that a few months prior to this painting she had discovered a cement planter in the shape of a swan that was broken, the neck had snapped and it was laying in pieces when she found it. She took it home to repair it and add her artistic style to it. I like that she considers herself the goddess and I imagine that each of these animals are part of her real world experience, each of them having a story that means something to her. I love that there is a part of her in this work that I may never fully understand. I also think of myself as the red dog laying in the foreground of the painting. The only one not looking at her, but watching over her, guarding everything she holds dear. I like her. I think she is a beautiful soul and an extremely attractive woman. I do feel protective of her and consider myself a friend even if we haven't really spent any time together. Just a few conversations over the years in person both in Atlanta and New Orleans. When she started painting the picture I sent her a $200 down payment on the original. I had to have it. It now sits in my office unobtrusive but where I can see it when I am sitting at my computer. I don't know if she made any prints of it, I had to wait a week for it to be shipped to me because the paint was still too wet to be packaged. It is the most cherished thing that I own. For those that want to know more or are curious about the artist. Her name is Marrus. She is based out of New Orleans. She loves life and lives her own truth in such a spectacular way that I am in awe of her. Google MarrusArt if you want to find her stuff online. She is on Facebook but doesn't use that account much. I highly suggest using her own website if you want to see more of her work.
Question 11 just doesn't work for this setting ("11.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 17, 2018:
I have been agonizing over this one for days now. I feel like I need to answer it but I keep thinking to myself "Oh, you can do better than that story!" so I keep searching the memory vaults for something better. This is what I got so I am sharing. When I was 39 I had been married for 18 years and knew that it was ending. I had made a poor choice when I was 21 but I thought I had everything figured out back then. (didn't we all?) The marriage had been in a slow downward spiral for the past decade and at this point we were basically just roommates who shared dinner together and occasionally watched shows. I was spending my time in on-line games and had discovered a weird sub-sub-culture within the game where folks were "practicing" BDSM. I was curious. Who plays around with "pain and being tied up" in a virtual realm where neither of those things were even remotely capable of being experienced. It was fun play-pretending in-game and I liked the idea of it all, but I had no way to know whether it was something that I might actually like doing. As luck would have it, I ran into someone at a convention who was obviously into BDSM for real. So I asked him about it and he told me where to go on-line to find local communities. He also indicated that consent was a thing, my first real introduction to the concept, and that I needed to talk to my wife before diving in. I thought about it and decided that I needed to be honorable at least, I owed her that much even if the relationship did not involve either of us having to justify where we were going or with whom we were spending time. So I waited for a good time, when we were both home and not headed out any time soon. I opened up to her telling her that I had discovered this type of lifestyle that intrigued me and excited me all at the same time. She was under the impression that I was just being a jerk man and wanted an excuse to have sex with other women and wanted her "consent" to make my guilty conscience feel better. I explained that was not the case, I wasn't in it for the sex but I was fascinated by the pain/pleasure aspects. To this she responded "Oh wow! You're broken! What did your mother do to you when you were a child? We need to go see a therapist so we can fix it." This hurt. I was being honest with her and she couldn't even bother to try to see my side of things, she wasn't trying to understand me, she just wanted to make into what she thought of as "normal". To this day I have had some pretty bad things said about me but I have never been hurt more by words. We spoke more about it but in the end it became clear that she just wasn't going to understand and was certainly not going to meet anyone who could help explain it to her. In the end I told her that this was something that I needed ...

WHO ELSE DRIVES AN HOUR OR MORE TO WORK?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 17, 2018:
Depending on when I leave the house it takes me anywhere from 40 to 90 minutes to get to work. It usually takes exactly an hour to get home. This is confusing to me but I don't think the laws of physics apply to Atlanta traffic. I do not mind the commute. I love to drive and even though there are idiots in front of me I just turn on Pandora and listen to music.
Have You Ever been in love with a best friend and was just a sad situation for you?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 17, 2018:
I crush on my friends all the time. They are friends and will remain such. I won't ruin a friendship by trying to make it something it is not. I recently learned of a mutual crush situation with one of my friends back in July, sadly she moved to Connecticut a week later. Perhaps she will be back and we can explore that if I am still available that is. I have a handful of friends that I do love, as friends. I would do anything for these people and my feelings are very much love as if they were siblings. I actually love them more than I do my siblings. To me that is just the natural progression of our emotional connection as friends. One of those friends I am very much in love with romantically as well as emotionally. She is married to another friend who I love dearly. It is not a sad situation for me, nor do I think it affects her in a negative way either. They have an open relationship and she is dating another man with whom I am also friends. All three of them are wonderful people and they are all happy together. My love for her is just something that exists. I don't pine for her, I don't want to date her nor take up any of her time trying to get on her dance card. It makes me happy to know that she is happy and in the end I make sure she will be taken care of as she is my primary beneficiary. There is also a woman that I dated a couple of times with whom I am also in love. She doesn't feel the same way and we have remained friends. I find that our friendship is developing into a beautiful thing and it too is not anything that I find to be a sad situation. Sure, in the beginning I wished desperately that she would change her mind. Now though, very much like my other friend whom I love, I want her to be happy and like seeing her grow and embrace the things in her life which make her the happiest. Yes. I can love many people at the same time. Love only grows the more you share it. It is not a zero sum game. Time on the other hand is a limited resource. I have to sleep. I have to go to work. Outside of those two obligations I get to choose where to spend my time and I use that time wisely to give to those that I want close to me.

Nukdookum comments on Nov 16, 2018:
A bad kisser is a deal breaker for me. Obviously though communication is the most important part of any relationship. If there is an issue we will talk about it. If my partner cannot talk about it or gets upset because I brought something up, then we aren't a good match. If there is no way to have an open and honest discussion, If there is a lack of conflict resolution skills, then no matter what else works that relationship is doomed. It doesn't matter how good the sex is, if we cannot resolve problems together I'm done.

Baffuta - noun, Italian colloquial. Small but not unattractive moustache on a woman
Nukdookum comments on Nov 16, 2018:
Feminine form of the word "Mustached". To use it in a sentence you would say the equivalent of "that moustached woman sitting at the table by the windows" or something similar. There is no component that word that confers attractiveness nor size to it. Baffutina applies the diminutive suffix to the word conferring the small size but still no judgement on how attractive or not the thing may be.

To me, intimacy means trusting someone enough to be vulnerable with them.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 16, 2018:
When I am interested in someone as a partner I always share of myself freely. Making myself vulnerable to another person is always terrifying. I have been hurt many times by my vulnerability. I have also been rewarded by it. I find that there is no reason to hide anything from potential partners. Obviously I don't start off with the really twisted stuff on the first day of communication but everything will come out in the end. I don't worry about familiarity running things. I am a dynamic human being and will grow from day to day. My partner will also grow and we will both be enthralled as we watch each other's journey, sometimes together, always supportive of each other. When it hurts it's as if your entire world is crumbling and you have no idea how to regain your footing. It is an extremely painful experience. You've made yourself vulnerable and paid the price for it. It can make you want to never experience that level of pain again. It's hard to stand back up when you've been knocked down, as the old adage goes. But, as we all know, you have to get back up. I realized many years ago that I could not make myself so vulnerable. I could keep my cards closer to my chest but then in addition to saving myself from that possible pain I'm also holding myself back from the possibility of love at the same time. I know just how wonderful love can be. I also know just how painful vulnerability can be. In my opinion the love that I stand to gain is always worth the pain that I might one day feel and so as terrifying as it is, I open myself up to both possibilities every time. For me there is no other acceptable option. One of my favorite songs had this reminder: Silence whispers her condolences, for the greatest trajedy of all is love lost. But the greatest virtue belongs to those who would give everything to love again. It is a test. There is always hope and the strongest and the bravest will always keep it close to them. For if you surrender hope, then love was right to leave you. I will always give everything when it comes to love. I am eternally hopeful that my vulnerability will reward me with love which will make up for all of the past pain that I endured along the way.

Anyone know how compatibility percentages are calculated?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 16, 2018:
The questions that are asked which the percentages are based on are very basic. What type are you looking for, how far will you go for love, what age range are you seeking? They have nothing to do with compatibility. If we answered questions like "How adventurous are you?" and "How adventurous are you expecting your partner to be?" the percentages might be a little closer. That said, there is nothing better than talking to people, reading their thoughts and comments, and getting to know someone through intelligent discourse, when you want to know if they are compatible with you.

I have done so many things for love. I have taken on decisions just because I could tell my love was getting frustrated at herding cats. I have gone out of my way to find just the perfect gift. I have remembered events months after they were discussed just so that I could offer support at the appropriate time. I have driven many thousands of miles just to spend a few hours with a loved one. I pay attention to what they say and take action on it. That one little thing seems to get the most shocked responses. I can't understand why people don't listen to the ones they love. Not just taking time to hear the words but process those words and make changes in your life to make your partner happy.
What's the craziest thing you've done to excite sexual attention?

I was meeting someone for the first time. Someone I really liked and wanted to make sure that first meeting was memorable. We were meeting in a distant city, I tend to fall for folks who don't live close to me. I called over a dozen florists looking for a very specific flower. Unable to locate that particular flower, I went with option #2, the second favorite flower. I called the florist and spoke for over an hour to get not one, not two, but three different arrangements. I called the venue and enlisted their help. I drove many hours the day before to insure that I wasn't going to be late to what I considered the most important date of my life. I went to the florist early the next day to make sure that everything was perfect. I had spent the previous two weeks scouring the internet for something beautiful to write on the card. I was being so meticulous and particular the staff thought I was proposing. I arrived at the venue early, just as they were opening up. I spoke to the hostess and explained that I needed a table for two and I was going to replace the center piece with my own. The staff at the restaurant were happy to accommodate my machinations. I was introduced to my server Sarah and we picked a table. I had chosen a decent spot but Sarah suggested another table with a better view. We put the rather large center piece on the table and set it so that it was perfect. I gave Sarah the dozen roses with instructions to deliver them to the table after the orders had been placed and the menu's cleared but before the food arrived. I then took the remaining arrangement, a single rose wrapped with baby's breath and some greenery for visual effect, and returned to the hostess to thank her for all of her help. I met my date at the valet stand, offering the single rose. When we entered the restaurant the hostess pretended not to know who I was and asked with that practiced tone "How many?". Table for two I responded, happy that the plan was coming together. The hostess turned to her staff and said "This is Sarah, she will be your server." Sarah, playing her part well, grabbed two menus and turned indicating that we should follow her. We arrived at the table and the center piece was perfect. It got the reaction that I was expecting. The card in it was read and I was pleased that the sentiment on it was also well accepted. We chatted for a bit, ordered drinks, asked Sarah about menu items and finally made our lunch choices. Being on top of things Sarah delivered the dozen roses which was a total surprise. Lunch was amazing, the food was made even more delicious by the quality of the company. I had a wonderful time that day, spent with my amazing date.
What's more important for a relationship? Chemistry or compatibility?

Communication.
A word of the day for you.

Freddy Mercury. Gene Wilder was rough for a different reason. I had decided to do a movie night and I planned to watch Young Frankenstein and other Gene Wilder films. My roommate thought he'd be funny and asked "When did Gene Wilder die?". He hadn't. This was Friday... He then died two days later on Sunday. I blame my roommate for that. ?
Question 9: For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 13, 2018:
I am most grateful that I have a strong Constitution. I rarely get sick, I don't have any debilitating diseases, I lead a fairly healthy life without having to work too hard to maintain it. I am glad that both my hair and complexion haven't given me any real difficulties over the years. I am thankful every day that I can dress myself, I can walk to my car, and drive myself to work. That seemingly small thing is huge when you can't do it.
How do you define chemistry?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 13, 2018:
To me it's all of the things which describe how my body reacts to theirs. Not any conscious reaction, but the autonomous systems my body. When I touch them do I feel an electric tingle in my fingertips? When they touch me does my skin respond by becoming hyper sensitive? When they move with me either walking or dancing together can I feel my body react to theirs? When I'm close does the smell of their skin and sweat appeal to me? When we kiss do I get lost in the taste of their lips, tongue, and mouth? I can get a good feeling of liking someone online. We can have the most intimate conversations and agree on everything that makes us happy. I don't think that is "chemistry" that's intellectual compatibility. All of that can be true but if we meet and it feels at all awkward, then we don't have chemistry.
Human Connection is fundamentally difficult.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 13, 2018:
I have met people for the first time and realized that they were someone I wanted to hang out with. I have seen much and don't react to things which normal people think are horrible thoughts. I listen to people and treat them with dignity and respect. That makes me very easy to talk to. While I don't think of myself as a people person, I do find that it is extremely easy for me to make connections. Now granted I don't let every connection that I make into my inner circle. Like I said I've seen and done a lot of things and not everyone is worthy of that level of access to my life. Connections are easy if you actively seeking them out. Friends at first sight is also pretty common in my life. I understand that isn't the same for everyone.
I wonder what you would consider deviant behaviour?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 13, 2018:
Behaviour that you couldn't tell your co-workers about at lunch time while making small talk. You could allude to sex with your partner. You could also hint at a threesome in the right crowd... Those things I would consider main-stream if you think the majority of people around you would do or fantasize about doing. Everything else is deviant.
Sorry I missed a day...or was it two?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 13, 2018:
Jonado. We both crushed on Freddy Mercury growing up. We love diet Dr. Pepper. We encourage those around is to be ourselves despite what anyone else might think.

For you, what is the difference between "like" and "love"?
Nukdookum comments on Nov 12, 2018:
Like is a completely "internal" experience. When you like someone you have a feeling of comfort or happiness when you are near or interacting with that person. You may feel joy when doing something it thinking about this person. All of these feelings are personal and relate directly to you. Love has "external" components to the experience. When you love someone and they are not present you feel that a portion of yourself is missing. Sometimes this is expressed as "heart ache" or a feeling of emptiness. When you love someone feelings of protection tend to extend to them, external to your own physical body. When they hurt feelings of empathy are much more intense because you have virtually extended a portion of yourself externally to them. When you like someone and they hurt empathy allows you to understand that pain and be supportive. When you love someone empathy allows you to understand that pain and love make it feel as if you were experiencing that pain yourself. Of course love also amplifies the feelings of joy and happiness in the same way.

You Can Never Forget The Ones That Make You Feel
Nukdookum comments on Nov 11, 2018:
I will never forget how each and every one of them makes me feel...Oh the sweet sweet sorrow of long lost loves.
Have a Great Sunday.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 11, 2018:

Sexual compatibility. Does size matter? Asking for a friend.
Nukdookum comments on Nov 11, 2018:
Size doesn't matter to me, but what matters to me isn't what matters to anyone else. It is useless to ask what matters to me when what's important is what matters to the "friend".
