I grew up with religion forced on me. It didn’t kill me, obviously. It actually had value in multiple ways. I like what the Dali Llama has to say on the matter, to paraphrase: Whatever beliefs a person has is good so long as it brings
happiness, peace, etc.. to their
heart. I do not begrudge anyone their beliefs so long as they don’t attempt to thrust them on to me. I have discovered more about myself since realizing I cannot place my happiness or well-being in the hands of a fictional god; or anyone else for that matter.
I enjoy conversations with people who are open -minded and it is much more pleasant to converse with others when there isn’t an obstacle of religion and all that entails in the mix.
