Matias comments on Sep 8, 2018:
"Nazis" thrive when liberals have overreached. It is an inevitable *backlash*. Whether it is the Sweden Democrats or the AfD in Germany, they owe their success to failures of dominant mainstream parties.

Curious about why people do not vote? In particular why they do not vote in local elections which have the most effect on their daily lives.
OpposingOpposum replies on Sep 7, 2018:
@GreatNani unfortunately that is not true everywhere. In fact in many places, polling stations are being shut down entirely. Operations vary greatly depending on where you are in the country.
That's just science.
TheGreatShadow comments on Sep 7, 2018:
On the other hand, some must love it when their partner beats the shit out of them multiple times! Just saying this because a former friend went back to her former boyfriend (for the 7th time). She had her own place 45 minutes from his. Maybe some people deserve to be beat?
OpposingOpposum replies on Sep 7, 2018:
@TheGreatShadow understanding and respecting ones own rights as a person precede understanding and respecting others' rights. I'll go out on a limb and say she doesn't know that she and her son deserve better. Likely, she assumes all men behave that way and doesn't want to trafe one abuser for another.

OpposingOpposum replies on Sep 7, 2018:
There is a cycle to abuse and one of the first steps is to convince the abused that they need the abuser, whether financially, emotionally or physically. Only after this "need" is established does the abuse begin. This is one of the major reasons abused people struggle to leave their abusers, they've been extensively brainwashed.

@Druvius It's not something that's publicly addressed or activily fought againt anywhere near enough. We need people writing books and speaking and motivating everyone to take an interest and get involved. Personally I am greatly annoyed by the automatic attack on anyone calling out the corrupt ass system we live in. "But she's making a living out of writing these books!" Wtf do you want her to do, starve so she can prove how "pure" her intentions are? Pffft

@Hastur I'm going to quibble with that a bit. There have been some really interesting studies that have shown that equinamity and fairness is valued among social primates more than status. I recall one where it was noted that even human infants seem to have an inherent sense of "fairness" . it makes sense in groups dependant on one another for survival(which we are). I'm of the opiniin that heirarchies are a largely manufactured value in human society that cause more problems than they solve. why are we still buying into that bs worldview? It creates nothing of value and glorifies the true parasites of our society.
