Trump is being Trump... He will promise to do it now and then forget all about it when the fervor dies down a little. He will then say that we are not even enforcing the laws on the books. (Which in some cases is correct.) They need to do a much more thorough background check for firearms! They should also have people take a safety and legal course, much like the one I was required to take for my carry permit.

My buddy Jim and I grew up together believing the same things. He moved in next door to me when he was 6 and I was 9. We had always stayed in touch and saw each other fairly often. We both believe in 2nd Amendment rights, a woman's right to choose, socially liberal and fiscally conservative... Etc. I think we both have voted for Republicans and Democrats alike. I will say that I always vote for the person... Not the party. I don't hold my self interest above that of my country as I know others do... And he now does. Jim fell victim to the fake Facebook ads and shocked me with his belief in the Clinton Pizza Pedophilia crap. He became a huge Trump supporter. I was dumbfounded! This severely cut back on our communication over the past few years. The last time I talked to him was about 4-5 months ago. I'll ask anyone to prove that assertion. The US govt. should go ahead and legalize marijuana and then the FDA can act toward regulation. Nani... If this were a game... I'd say look for something fun. In reading a few responses and your reactions I see that this is more serious! I would assume that you wouldn't want your father relying on a "fun" walking stick that was not effective and allowed him to fall! Replace "fun" with "effective" and look again for an answer. My short answer is... I have no clue. How is your father's grip? That will decide what type of handle is best. Would he want one that stands up by itself or not? What type of surface does he walk on most where he needs the help? A slick wooden floor or a muddy trail? A lot of thought needs to go into this. Sorry for being short... I just remember going through similar stuff with my mom before she passed.

Your poll, as all polls, doesn't go far enough. I used to think that I was fair cross section of a male American. In my youth I was a Boy Scout that had a Marine Corps Major as a Scout Master. It was the most fun time of my life as he opened doors for kids to do things most never would or could. We learned about camping, survival, guns, knives, swimming, building with your hands, camaraderie, trust in your friends, etc. Of course I joined the NRA at 18. I was never a hunter but I love to shoot targets. Then, as time went by, Wayne LaPierre arrived on the scene and I realized that the NRA no longer represented me... They represented themselves and some hard core Republicans... They had gone totally political. This was a HUGE turn off for me. I quit the NRA and never returned. Yes I am an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment. Yes I have more guns than I can currently count. I collect modern and antique guns. I have thousands of rounds of various ammo. I just reloaded some .45 Colt black powder rounds last night! And I plan on buying another rifle later this week. (It is a 100 year old rifle!) My guns usually don't leave my property and all my ammo gets shot safely and responsibly into a hillside on my property. Here's the thing... We need common sense gun reform. We also need to enforce the rules and laws that currently exist. We need to get rid of the hate and take away the reasons people do stuff like this. Because guess what.... Gun control is not the answer here. Take away the guns and people will go for ways to inflict larger damage. Imagine a homemade mustard gas attack in a NY subway for instance. But how do we as a society go after the crazy people before things like this happen? Unless the NRA changes their stance... They will eventually go down in flames. As a responsible gun owner I would beg them to re-examine who they are in bed with and come back to represent responsible gun owners and not the political machine. We will only advance if both sides work together here. Sorry for being a little disjointed here... I'm only on my 2nd cup of coffee!

So.. Learn to let stuff roll off your back! I was just in the hospital for a few weeks from complications from a broken rib puncturing my lung. I had many people tell me they would pray for me. Some of these people know I am an Atheist/Agnostic. One even said, "I know you don't believe.. But I do!" I just thanked everyone and told them I appreciated being in their thoughts. There are times when I want to reach out and swat Christians. Sometimes they are just smarmy and I feel they deserve to be swatted. But I don't go out of my way to do so. Sometimes you just need to shake your head and move along.

I used to travel the I-95 corridor between Stafford and Vienna, VA. At the time it was judged to be the worst traffic in the world. It hasn't improved much since then but I think it has since fallen to the #2 or #3 worst traffic in the past few years. This was in the late 1990's. I used to have this weird feeling set in on me around the Fort Belvoir, VA area of 95 every single morning. The change was so regular, sudden and distinct, I seriously though it was some weird beam of energy, Microwave or something, that was affecting me every morning. My heart rate would go up along with my breathing and feelings of nervousness and paranoia of sorts. It would freak me out for 15-20 minutes and then go away. This happened every morning for 8-9 months. It was weird in that it was not something that I would usually think about at other times of the day... And not something I would worry about prior to it happening. It was sort of a spontaneous phobia of sorts. In between that time I occasionally looked on the internet for any type of attributable cause. I found nothing. No microwave towers nearby. Nothing sinister looking anywhere I could see. Then it hit me one morning... This ALWAYS happened in the same place every day. This was also the same place that traffic would start to back up and come to a complete stop. I started examining my feelings of this and realized that I was the cause of all this! After examining my thoughts and feelings I discovered that I was worried about what might happen to me if I were to have a heart attack or need some sort of immediate medical attention. There was no way an ambulance could get there, no place for a helicopter to land... If something happened to me and it was life or death... I would probably die! THAT is what I had been freaking out about. I was landlocked in a sea of traffic! This was sort of an epiphany for me. I FINALLY figured it out!!! Once I figured out the cause I was able to reason with myself that the odds would be low that I would need immediate medical attention and if I did.. .Yup.. I might just die! Shit happens! Once I reasoned this out and accepted it.. I never again had that weird feeling. But I do understand a little better those that have anxiety issues. I continued that rush hour commute for 3-4 years after that and never had an issue again. Since that time I have helped a few others that have had anxiety issues figure out what their issues were and how to deal with them successfully. Overcoming my fear of dogs is an even better story!

This is pretty damning for those who wish to prosecute Julian Assange.

Since I live in the woods... I don't have cable TV as an option for TV or Internet. If you have only one cable company... You may be screwed. However... If you have several in your area, call up your current provider and tell them you just got an amazing offer. You are happy with your present service but your husband wants to switch to save money! What can they do. I ran the reverse of this and it worked every time for years. However... If they know they are the only game in town... They may stand firm. I live out in the woods and use DirecTV for satellite delivery of televised content. The ONLY drawback is that they don't offer high speed internet. So I use HughesNet Gen 5. My combined TV/Internet is probably closer to $300/mo... But I get every channel and have unlimited downloading. I live without Netflix (sadly) and cannot stream reliably. But then I live in paradise... Small price to pay!

You will love the iPhone. It is MUCH more intuitive and finger friendly than any Droid phone I have ever used. My work supplies me with an iPhone while my personal choice used to be Android. The iPhone won me over for multiple reasons. Get a good case or a ballistic glass front cover. You will love all the features as you learn them. It comes with a TIPS box that pops up every now and then... Look for that and explore. The reminder and calendar functions are worth their weight in gold to me! I live in an area where I see a lot of planes at 35k - 40k feet up. Just press the button and ask, "Siri, what flights are above me?" Gotta love Siri... You'll spend days getting to know her. I gave her a British accent!
