I've just been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and am seeking therapy to improve my coping skills.

I started therapy 3 weeks ago to cope with family member loss, divorce and a general lack of motivation on my job because of said loss, etc. I sought out a therapist using an online "healthgrades" type site where you can look at where they were educated as well as a snippet about how they go about treatment. For some reason (I suppose because they are not too far away) there are a lot of therapists in this area that got their degree from Liberty University. She was not one of them and I made sure of that. I had a 33 page intake form I needed to fill out. It took me hours! In it, she asked what role religion played in my life. It is the only area of the form where I used ALL CAPS and they were underlined. Along with a note..." If you EVER ask me to include prayer of worship in my treatment I will never see you again! We can certainly discuss why I am an Atheist, but I only have belief and faith in friends and family... And I will only worship the woman I love!" We haven't gotten to the religious portion of the show yet... lol Find another therapist immediately!!!!

90% of the customers I deal with daily are Muslim. I have learned a lot in the last few years about their religion and culture... and I respect their beliefs. (I have only shared my views with a select few and they seem to respect my beliefs.) They are actually A LOT harder working than most of their "white bread" counterparts from what I have seen. Working during Ramadan and sweating it out daily for a month with nothing to eat or drink during daylight hours would kill most of my other customers!

My ex was a Catholic (non-practicing at the time). Strange that she started going again every Sunday since she cheated on me. But that's okay... The priest forgave her. (As did I) But we were okay with how things were.... We would have general discussions from time to time but they never got heated. I just checked the list... Of all the things I have ever been called... Never once have I been called the devil. Lets see... Dickhead, asshole, mother fucker... Nope.. Devil isn't there. Anyone of extremes can be a turn off. I was dating this one girl a little over a year ago. She was beautiful with a perky personality and I was excited about what could be. Then she got sick and refused to go to the doctor... Saying she could cure hersellf with herbs only... Her sickness just got worse. I eventually broke it off. There was another I dated a few times... Then it came out that she could actually control her surroundings! Tornadoes couldn't touch her as she could will them away. The ants could not come in her home as she mentally put up a barrier they could not pass. Yet when she came out here to visit... She was constantly worried about being eaten by a bear! (Black bears don't eat people!) Oh... And she was terrified of spiders. I just stood back waiting for her to blink like Jeannie. Uh... It didn't work.

My County, state and country are all important to me. The world as a whole is also... But hard to make an impact globally. It starts with voting! If you don't vote, you have no right to bitch about anything. I do not vote for my own self interests... I vote for who I feel the country needs or, as is getting to be the case more and more often... The lesser of two evils. Regardless... You MUST VOTE! I have volunteered at the polls a few times... I always donate to my local Volunteer Fire & Rescue. I recycle just about everything as it turns out. (When I started years ago I was surprised!) I am a good steward of the land and area that I live in. I have A LOT of great hardwood on my 12 acres... But it stays where it is! Your question is an interesting one and has brought back feelings, upon reflection, of childhood, the Pledge of Allegiance and other stuff I am not sure they even do anymore. Heck, they were doing the "Duck and cover" the first few years I was in school as we all grew up with the thought that the USSR was going to bomb us at any moment. It was definitely and US -VS- THEM mentality. I'm looking at the future and I ain't seein' the Jetsons... More like Idiocracy. (Just watch the first 5 minutes to get my point!)

Funny that you say that as that is kind of what my mom thought. Generally when I whip out that I am Atheist it is to shut some religious person down. Make sure your news source is free from manure and you have many places to go to get info! I too have many guns and a lot of ammo. I do not hunt but I love target shooting and have a range on my property. Hey, some people collect coins or stamps. I like putting holes in paper from a long way away! I feel part of the problem is everyone seems to want to hyphenate themselves these days. Where Did the Universe Come From?

It is hard to wrap one's head around. Personally... I believe that the empty void of the universe has always been there as it is nothingness. Our universe might have been brought about by a collision of dimensions. (Not The 5th Dimension, though they were a great band!) They say our universe keeps expanding and they point to Dark Matter they cannot prove. I believe it to be the electromagnetic fields of solar systems, galaxies, clusters and super clusters that are driving everything apart. But that is just me. We actually live in 4 dimensions with the 4th being time itself. The picture of the hyper tesseract sort of explains this. Imagine a 3 dimensional person leaving a visible trail as they walk down the street... That is time, the 4th dimension. Asking us, with 4 dimensions and 5 senses to figure out more, to me, seems like asking a 2 dimensional being to fathom the Empire State Building.

I grew up hugging and all family members. That has expanded to include close friends. It was natural growing up. I can remember my (now) ex-wife thinking it was a bit creepy for some reason... She barely waved goodbye to her family. Once I knew her family well enough, I gave them a hug for hello and goodbye also. My ex would just stand by the door as I did this. Gradually, she started this and has grown closer to her family over the years. I don't recall ever being prompted to do this... But all my family members do it.

My first thought was to tax them as a corporation. But there are a few churches out there that do good work for the public and those less fortunate. They should be given tax exempt status for that work!

Charity... I went through a heart wrenching divorce several years ago. It still stings when I think about it. 20 years together and my trust and faith in her was shattered by her having an affair. I had some great advice that worked for me from a friend.... How you handle this now will define who you are in the future. (At least to some degree!) Be strong and use this outlet for help. (Or a licensed therapist!) Personally, I'd steer clear of Facebook as in my experience it just brings more trouble and unwanted issues. The one eye opening fact I ran into when trying to start to date again was the sheer number of scams on ALL the dating sites. If you go there... List yourself as ... NOT separated or divorced. There is a whole cadre of badmen (and women) who prey on those with possible self esteem issues. This place was a breath of fresh air for me. Not too many people close to me to date but a place where I can be me and post my thoughts. Keep your chin up! It gets better every day! ;)

I live in the woods. Less idiots per square mile! 12 acres next to the river high on a bluff surrounded by thousands of acres in conservation so nobody cane build anywhere near me. No EPA Superfund sites anywhere near or up river, no shale formation for companies to frac, plenty of pure, clean drinking water. I have bear, deer, turkey, fox, geese, ducks... You name it. I am not a hunter but would be if I had to be. I've never minded being alone... But it can get lonely at times. Thankfully the bears love it when I sing Karaoke!

I have a company come out to stray to keep the bees and spiders at bay. Otherwise my house get webs spun all over that I have to constantly knock down. (And I have hornets, yellow jackets and wasps!) So I am pretty bug free unless I go out hiking. I heard on the radio yesterday that it is the time of year for the stink bugs to start making their way inside. I don't have much here... But they are think in some other nearby places.

I can't stand little yappers either. The good thing about living where I live is that the eagles and hawks use them and cats as snacks. I am with you... I'll eventually get a large black lab or maybe a chocolate. They obey and are friendly. Plus they love the water!

It's stupid, but I have to say that it does sometimes. Especially on dating websites. I'm not a stalker and generally am not rude to anyone. But I guess it is a way for people to narrow their view. What bothers me most are heartfelt emails that are deleted without being read.

He never expected or wanted to become president! He just wanted to make money with the Trump brand. Voter apathy got him into the WH. Hillary wasn't electrifying and in some cases, put off a lot of people. There were a lot of people that voted for Trump as an anti-Hillary vote. There were a lot of democrats that stayed home because there was no way Trump could win. Trump was effective with the redneck demographic with IQs <100. Things will change in November. Wait until the House and Senate are under Democratic control. You think he is crazy now???

Men who never learned to cook

I LOVE cooking. So much so I built a somewhat professional kitchen in my house when I built it 4 years ago. My parents were both great cooks and my father used to be a huge fan of James Beard. For my family the kitchen and dining room has always been the center of activity for every gathering. I prefer to work alone but built the kitchen for 2-3 people to be able to cook. Of course it also feels good when the people I have over enjoy my cooking!

For me, it depends... There is classy and trashy. There is quality and crayola. I've seen beautiful women whose looks (I feel) are spoiled by garish while there are others that seem to look hotter with . I've seen guys whose are cool looking and others that look like they just got out of prison. When I was growing up... Seems like the only guys that had were service men and longshoremen. The only women that had them were carnival workers and strippers. These days, when on the beach and more skin is bare, it appears that most people have ... So a lot more acceptable these days. I have one I got years ago at Miami Ink on my right shoulder. The eye of Horus. I'll go back and get an ancient Roman tat one of these days. Since it is forever (or at least for the life of the skin!) picking the right artist is crucial.
