OK...I strongly believe "you are what you eat"...but at the same time...I concur with @callmedubious and @EdEarl. While I'm here; Let me take a survey; Who suggests enjoying eggs as they are... who suggests "tossing the yolks" and just using whites??
Robecology replies on Oct 7, 2020:
@callmedubious and @Mermaidfantasy Yea...I get that recommendation (only pure eggs) from the daughter in law...but my son (her husband) turned me on to whites only. The sandwich shoppe, Subway often has specials on "whites only " sandwiches...and whites are nearly pure protein whereas the yolks have a lot of fat, including saturated fats and cholesterol....which most of us get too much of ordinarily in our diets. @EdEarl...that's a vote for your support, as well. Thanks for the feedback...I'm still on the fence about this...
The tendency of our time is wholly oriented toward the secular.

Robecology replies on Oct 6, 2020:
@zeuser Wow; You're right! and it was tax subsidized...but in an "underhanded way" so Hamm is about aa slick as Trump....NOT slick at all! "Back in 2014, Church & State published a story about the various forms of tax aid Ham’s evangelistic enterprise received, and yesterday, blogger Hemant Mehta did us a great service by listing all of the public assistance Ham’s park (and its parent company, Ham’s Answers in Genesis ministry) has raked in over the years. Here are some of them: A tax-rebate program nets the Ark Park more than $1.8 million annually from the state. Under the plan, the state charges a 6 percent tax on the sale of tickets, food and souvenirs at the park. The funds are forwarded to the state, but once a year, all of that money is refunded to the Ark Park. It flows directly from the state treasury to Ark Encounter. As bloggers William and Susan Trollinger have pointed out repeatedly, the city of Williamstown floated $62 million in junk bonds for the Ark Park to subsidize the building of the structure. (By the way, Williamstown officials did this because they bought Ham’s claim that the Ark Park would spur tourism in their town. But that hasn’t happened, and now Ham says it’s their fault because the community is too far away from the interstate.) The Grant County Industrial Authority gave Ark Encounter $175,000 to offset the cost of land. In addition, local officials agreed to sell nearly 100 acres of land to Ham for the princely sum of $1. The state spent $10 million on highway improvements on a road leading to Ark Encounter. There’s simply no denying it – that’s an awful lot of state and local support. Ham needs to own up to the fact that his fundamentalist theme park would likely never have seen the light of day without massive help from the taxpayers of Kentucky." from https://www.au.org/blogs/ark-park-money

@JackPedigo Not denial Jack - a demand for evidence is the opposite of denial. You said for example that "War does not lower population." you can't be serious. A simple search of that comment finds obvious fault with that comment; https://www.pnas.org/content/114/52/E11101. Of course "Even with the first WW and the accompanying pandemic the population still rose everywhere." but it would have grown a lot faster if the million + soldiers who were killed were home making babies. And where did you come up with the idea that 'need to kill of 86+ million every year just to break even?" ...no, Jack. Just work to distribute family planning tools and advice more freely would alleviate and reduce much of that growth. It's no longer about "killing" a growing population....it's about slowing down its' growth. Google ZPG. Then you said 'Education and certain policies are." Now you're on to something. Bingo...I know the research supports you there... http://www.earth-policy.org/data_highlights/2011/highlights13 Your last comment about "In Iran, at one time, people got a tax break for the first child, no break for the second and had to pay for every additional child." I couldn't find a thing to validate that. Perhaps you can? Again...I'm agnostic. I need evidence...not "denial" or comments without support.

I'm afraid it goes much deeper than that; There's almost no such thing as a virgin woman in the Islamic culture... Girls showing any sign of womanhood are "taken" (i.e. raped)... I shared that meme that Chris Rock posted because as a teacher I experienced 45 years of being in the spotlight. One bad word, one unprofessional behavior...and you're in big trouble. Climbing Mt. Everest? Not exactly my cup of tea; and folks do go through great expense to see "alien" deep sea life microscopic life, and life hidden deep in hard-to-access jungles... Robecology replies on Sep 3, 2020:
@FearlessFly It's pretty obvious that you didn't read my article. The point is that aliens would never bother coming to visit us. Never have, never will. It would be like if you saw an unusual wildlife show on TV and then just "had to go visit them live". Granted; there are a few that must have that "eye-witness" experience. But for most logical thinkers...electronic messaging...photography, video, radio, etc...is a far better and easier way to "visit" any exotic life on earth.... And multiply that feeling by 1000 and you get my point about us visiting any extra-terrestrial aliens - or them visiting us. It's so much easier to just send radio and TV signals. Very little cost. High travel rate (the speed of light, or 186,000 miles per second) and we can "learn about each other" that way. Even assuming they have overcome light speed - have learned to do "warp" speed (I'm sure you've watched Star Trek) - you have to ask "why bother"? To "boldly go where no man has gone before" ? Please.

But fact-based comments do come more from the liberal/progressive/left than they do from the conservative/righ - and research backs me up on this; https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/words-matter/201810/why-people-ignore-facts Even the name has a bias to favor the right; we all know the history and idealogical slant of "being Left" in a right handed world. If you're correct you're "right" if you're not in the mainstream you're "left out". But I digress. I again thank you for participating...it's rare and it's welcome. I'll leave you with memes that express how I feel.
While reading Wade Davis' book on The Conquest of Everest, I came across a quote by George Mallory, ...

The stress will grow as we grow in population; It's scientifically proven; the more crowded it is, the more "psychotic" we become. It's the increased pressure to fight for survival, for dwindling resources. And our growth rate is still absurd; it almost sounds fictional...but the facts ...
Robecology replies on Aug 18, 2020:
@Freedompath You said "I would argue that there is enough...it’s the excess that there isn’t enough of! " which is contradictory. I've directed students to do experiments with fruit flies...and with ants...in self-contained communities. The results were consistent; populations explode; then subside as wastes build and food depletes. Recycling can't keep up; and the populations crash usually due to self-toxicity (we never studied the "diseases" they caught....but it was clear some just starved to death, some died of widespread infections) https://eprints.lse.ac.uk/22514/1/2308Ramadams.pdf It's simple really; There's a natural trend to overpopulate due to the generally high loss rate. But we humans invented health. We got "preventative"...so we're keeping folks alive - to starve and struggle. A course correction is happening. The trend towards smaller families and being "child-free" as opposed to "childless" is happening... ...but it appears too slowly to stop more pandemics, more global warming, and perhaps our extinction (along with the extinction of many related species that depend on us for survival). Sad to say...but we agnostics face death better than most. And I suffer the same quirks in my family; one is horribly pro-Trump, one is (was) frightfully religious. Some we just can't debate with on any level. But we can't "name call" these folk. They're suffering, they've gone over to "the dark side" and it's pretty much hopeless to change them.

We see that; but the Trump supporter doesn't...and there's tens of millions of them. If we're arrogant and righteous as this comment comes off as...we will lose. We have to approach the Trump supporter. We have to debate with them. We have to reason with them. We can't just assume ...

@Freedompath They do wear you out. As a teacher, the fringe learners, the troubled kids...took up 95% of our time and often were more of a headache than a source of pride. They're the stuff of my nightmares to this day; and I'm retired from teaching going on 9 years. These kids have grown to be Trump supporters....and if we don't "address" them...if we decide they're a "lost cause" (like the person asking how the chicken is prepared in the OP above) then we will be dominated by a fascist, sexist, racist dictator.

@Gmak I just made three comments; Hell? Samaritan? #Religulous? You're the one who got overly sensitive about them. Lighten up. I'm glad you've had enough! Stop taking offense so easily!!

Robecology replies on Aug 16, 2020:
@Gmak Your definition of atheist is correct; your evaluation of me is not. I'm not 100% sure there's no god....it's just that the evidence so far has been clear that there is no god, no superpower, no creationism. Thus -if you like categorizations and pigeon-holing - I'm agnostic, but not quite atheist. I, too think Jesus taught a lot of good things. He allegedly said that it's wise to care for those "who need it most" to "turn the other cheek" and many strategies allegedly said by a Jesus. - so I also follow in Jesus' teachings..I just don't "believe" in any of the hocus-pocus that's been attributed to him. Apparently you still do.
If you're a stock investor you might want to watch this.

They qualify for the S&P, but there are powerful anti Musk forces who oppose him, for example short sellers. Will they delay entry.
Robecology replies on Aug 16, 2020:
Its' volatility allows "short selling" which to me is one of the last big loopholes that has to be closed. Betting that a stock will go down....and profiting on it? I don't get the strategy.
