Indeed. I think I've read that the true "Florida Panther" is no longer genetically pure. @darkstar24 It's just a great machine. It's the future. The main drawback is the time you have to sit while on road trips waiting for the Supercharger to charge it up...it'll take a good hour to gain 100+ miles...but it's a lot faster than overnight charging at your local outlet. But that's what you need if you use the car as a commuter vehicle...a 120 volt plug at home, near where you park. Parking overnight gives you 35-40 miles per night. Here's the link to join our group. @Jurnee The only suggestions about changes is eating less. You can eat your regular diet. Just keep track of it. weigh it. Some here measure calories...I don't go that far. As a scientist I've read that you can be a total junk-food junkie...and if you eat less you'll still lose weight....it's the calorie count that's critical. Calories in must be less than calories out. Some exercise hard to allow more calories....I don't . We eat several times a day...we only work out once a day....rarely for an hour....so eating less....and again.... If you want to deal with losing weight you have to deal with hunger. Hunger has been proven to be good for you. All animals deal with hunger...only us humans have the luxury of foods being so convenient that we never need to be hungry.... ...and this has led to our "addiction" or "obesity". again...I make NO SUGGESTIONS TO CHANGE YOUR DIET...just eat less. @Jurnee Ed is only trying to help you become self-aware; he is not "just wrong". You're being closed minded. He said...and it's worth repeating; "IMO there is no magic and it isn't easy; one way or another, YOU must change.". I concur. This section is called "battling obesity" for a reason....we all know it's a battle. It's not easy. I've had my ups and downs, as well. I was a chubby kid...then a slim young adult...then an obese adult...and finally a close to normal adult. Consider this; your food tastes are not your fault. You've been programmed since before you could walk and talk to respond to emotional needs by eating certain foods. But don't be angry at your parents....they did the best with what they knew at the time. But your profound food addiction is their fault. So to fix it...as Ed said...you must "change" The change I recommend you start with is evening hunger, and daily. documented weigh-ins. Let hunger be "your friend". Science suggests that hunger is as necessary as sweating for longevity. Look at, and save to your desktop this map. Robecology replies on Nov 29, 2019:
I'd be interested in the evidence that you can score 1 point for a safety; I read this; Safeties A safety is worth two points. The important factor in a safety is impetus, which is the action of an offensive player that gives the ball momentum. A safety is awarded to the defending team if it sends the ball into its opponent’s end zone and the ball becomes dead without changing possession. This occurs when a quarterback, running back, or receiver is tackled with the ball in his own end zone or goes out of bounds behind the goal line. A safety also is awarded when the offensive team commits a penalty that would otherwise require it to have the ball marked in its own end zone. A safety is also awarded when a blocked punt goes out of the kicking team’s end zone. And if the punt receiver muffs the ball and then, when trying to retrieve the ball, forces or illegally kicks it into the end zone (creating new impetus) and it goes out of the end zone, the defensive team is given a safety. If a muffed ball is kicked or forced into the end zone and then recovered there by a member of the receiving team, the defensive team is awarded a safety. got it from here....but prove me wrong! https://www.dummies.com/sports/football/how-football-teams-can-score-points-in-game-play/

In the earliest Sumerian writings about them, which come from the Post-Akkadian period, the Anunnaki are the most powerful deities in the pantheon, descendants of An and Ki, the god of the heavens and the goddess of earth, and their primary function is to decree the fates of humanity. #Religulous.

Tire friction is important, as is the weight of each vehicle. The batteries and motors in an EV are typically heavier than the engine, transmission and fuel in an ICE vehicle.

@Davesnothere Dave; this is a serious misunderstanding that many who don't know the facts assume; "Teslas vehicles create the same problem the toilet does out of sight out of mind" No...sorry....that's just not true. #1. Even in coal powered communities, the coal is far more filtered and purified. The smoke that comes out of coal power plants (25% and declining in America, 30% and declining world wide) is #1 remote and #2 far more cleaner than the smoke from I.C.E. car engines. #2. Water (hydro) and wind are rapidly growing. Nuclear is slowly fading, and natural gas is rising as crude petroleum also is declining as a power plant source. Solar P.V. is making inroads...growing much more in China and Germany than in the U.S. My Tesla is technically nuclear powered...no CO2 smoke at all, but a frightening degree of heat pollution...but again...remote....at a power plant many miles away. I do concur with your drive-less strategy. It's a critical strategy, IMO. https://www.footprintcalculator.org

Robecology replies on Nov 23, 2019:
@bingst Compared to four-door, short-bed configurations, Cybertruck length is 231.7" which is same as Silverado and F-150, and 1" shorter than Ram 1500. However, the Cybertruck bed length is much longer: 78" vs just 65" on F-150, 67" and 68" on the other two. Width of the Tesla is the narrowest of the four trucks: 79.8" vs 96.8" on the F150. Height of the Tesla is the shortest of the four, by two to 3 inches. In other words, it's the narrowest, and shortest in both height and length, but has the longest bed by quite a lot, and also the most interior room (according to those who rode in it last night. Ground clearance is also much higher on the Tesla at 16" vs just 9.4" on F-150 and 11" on the Chevy and Dodge trucks. Approach angle and Departure angle also much better on the Tesla. Robecology replies on Nov 22, 2019:
@wonderandlisten Here's an abstract of a 2008 study; Abstract In John B. Calhoun’s early crowding experiments, rats were supplied with everything they needed – except space. The result was a population boom, followed by such severe psychological disruption that the animals died off to extinction. The take-home message was that crowding resulted in pathological behaviour – in rats and by extension in humans. For those pessimistic about Earth’s “carrying capacity,” the macabre spectacle of this “behavioural sink” was a compelling symbol of the problems awaiting overpopulation. Calhoun’s work enjoyed considerable popular success. But cultural influence can run both ways. In this paper, we look at how the cultural impact of Calhoun’s experiments resulted in a simplified, popular version of his work coming to overshadow the more nuanced and positive message he wanted to spread, and how his professional reputation was affected by this popular “success.” Drawing upon Calhoun’s work, researchers in human ecology, social psychiatry, social epidemiology, and the new environmental psychology – such as George Carstairs (1969b), Aristide Esser (1973), William Michelson (1970), Harold Proshansky (et al 1970), Robert Sommer (1969), and D. H. Stott (1962) – identified the problem of density in the city, home, and institution as impinging directly on health and development. A decent follow up, IMO...thanks for asking! https://eprints.lse.ac.uk/22514/1/2308Ramadams.pdf

I don't get the battle. Perhaps if they - or someone - set up a comparative chart...speed, frequency of interruptions, frequency of unwanted "drop-downs"....we could pick and chose? I recall using Firefox, then Chrome...and finally Safari. I have no idea why i switched. Anyone?
Robecology replies on Nov 18, 2019:
@FearlessFly Thanks. I still don't see a discussion of advantages...I did see that Chrome is growing...and that Safari comes with Mac...

If you asked him not to text or call....and he did....that's a red flag. He is impulsive...and has little regards for your opinion or requests. You say he's intuitive, bright, and fun but you seem confused and not comfortable about your apparent lack of physical attraction. You have two ...

@Marcie1974 You didn't use profanity against him. You were polite and asked him courteously to do certain things....he overlooked that. That's not being a b....h....that's self preservation....and hopefully he'll learn from the lesson....I'm guessing he won't.

@Marcie1974 We used to call it "cutting ties"....now it's "ghosting"? You have no obligation to "stay in touch"...so, in a sense....you're not ghosting...you're just choosing wiser options. I'm not suggesting you totally cut him off....just think carefully through how he ignored your specific requests....that behavior's likely to reoccur. Sometimes initial attractions are inspiring....sometimes they're a warning. Be wise.

Robecology replies on Nov 15, 2019:
@tinkercreek Friends and relatives disparaged that I used a cane or walking stick for close to 6 months...through July-August of 2018 - had the surgery Jan 2018 so yes, there was pain and soreness...but now it's gone. I had a great physical therapist who I actually paid to come back even after my insurance ran out....she was that good. I still try to get down 3 flights of stairs by the time my 3rd floor door shuts...about 20 seconds. Now....no pain at all....and I can now jog again.

A rarely mentioned feature (and one that no one is likely to notice for a decade or more) is the revolutionary shortening of the wiring in the vehicle - from 1500 meters to 150!. That was one of the first things to make my old clunkers "unrepairable"....the wiring "grounded out". Chances of that now greatly reduced....as well as costs! https://insideevs.com/news/361298/new-tesla-wiring-system-promises-to-cause-a-revolution/
Hopefully this will annoy someone....

Robecology comments on Nov 15, 2019:
I understand that eggplant slices, once peeled and lightly salted...preserves well in the frige and excellently in the freezer. It can also be "blanched" (quick boiled) and then put in jars to preserve at room temperature. https://www.laurainthekitchen.com/recipes/preserved-eggplant/
Robecology replies on Nov 15, 2019:
@CrazyQuilter I, too...live alone. I can only suggest that you save what you can, and share your eggplants. I have two eggplants. - one in the freezer, one thawing and getting ready for an eggplant 'stack"....with tomatoe sauce and mozzarella.
Hi everyone! I have never given a car of mine a name have you? What is it?
Robecology comments on Nov 14, 2019:
Tesla encourages "naming" the car...it helps with logistics - so it's not just a number. Mine's "ECO -CAR"....it's even on my license plate! It's my final love affair!
Robecology replies on Nov 15, 2019:
@MrLizard I can't say if that's accurate; I'm guessing the most common car names are associated with "super-hero" characters. Here's a fun view of the classic famous names; https://driving.ca/auto-news/entertainment/ten-of-the-best-car-names-of-all-time

Robecology replies on Nov 14, 2019:
@Freedompath The biology of male vs female is interesting and frightening. Most male spiders are many times smaller than their female counterparts...and most males who don't place their sperm where it belongs quick enough end up as dinner for her. Most male insects are eaten by their larger female counterparts. Most male birds are the colorful ones...most females are the bland ones - the camouflage helps with nest survival. We're one of the very few - perhaps the only species...that has face-to-face copulation Did you know that all flowering plants depend on male "sperm" growing inside a pollen tube that finds its way to the sticky female "stigma"? If the pollen tube doesn't complete its "intercourse" to the female's ovary...then the female loses her "stickiness" and stops attracting male "pollen". There's tons of interesting stuff regarding the evolution of sex. Here's a book you'll love; https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Tatianas-Sex-Advice-Creation/dp/0805063323
America's biggest milk producer files for bankruptcy [nbcnews.com]
Robecology comments on Nov 13, 2019:
Too many are actually wiiling to pay higher prices for non-dairy milk. The demand for Soy, or almond, or non-dairy milk products has clearly risen. I noticed the price of cows milk dropping...and dropping. I see why they've filed for bankruptcy. Sad.

@whiskywoman I must say it's an "acquired taste". It depends on your concern and devotion to avoiding animal products, and trying to go more "vegan".... I'm only mildly devoted.. .The daughter-in-law is totally in to it - and putting my poor son and grandson through vegan "hell"....LOL!
