Good morning fellow foodies! I've a lifestyle question for the group. Does anyone know someone, or...

It depends on a lot of factors. My 60 year old brother died in 2014 from eating old food....and we family members are notorious for saving and eating "'leftovers"....so it's a real "iffy" thing. All I can suggest is let your nose and taste buds be your guide. If something doesn't smell quite right...just know that it could end your life.

It depends on how often you post rude comments...and how willing folks are to report you. FB is trying to clean up...so if you comment in a more conservative way (i.e. "the flag of surrender is white, not this"...) then you'll likely to be name-called...and that's where YOU report the offense and get him/her blocked. IMO.....Some slough off things they don't like about themselves as "bad habits I got from......" and leave it at that. I say to them, as politely as I can....that you need to at least consider trying to realize they're bad, why they're bad, and what plans you have to reduce or end them. Otherwise - how can you like - or dare I say - completely love - yourself? Again - this is just my opinion.

The bad news is that we have less topsoil every year. The bad news is, at this rate, crops will continue to degrade, plant diseases will rise, Chemical additives will rise. and that "six inch layer of topsoil" will eventually go to the sea, iwith the "fact that it rains". I'd talk about Trump in a way that was flattering. After all; he did "persuade" 60 million plus Americans to vote for him; and he did win the race against 20 something other candidates...so that has some cred.... The trick is to persuade him.To make him realize that he's basically a good person who's gone in an unwise direction. Not an easy task. Ask George Stephanolpolous. He is - as the original Poster pointed out, my "narcissism, my love of capital & material, my love of control and recognition,my denial of wrongdoing and my pride in being seen and treated as #1". I have to admit it.... I've felt the greed. I've nurtured the narcissism. I like the comfortable financial state my planner put me in. We have to realize that Trump does represent the darker sides of what we once were...and might even have traces of today. I am, ideally, a progressive. A liberal-minded person who's more like Jesus than most people I know; especially Christians. Below are a lot of deniers, IMO. These folks will never be able to speak "Truth to power". BTW; did you know that the phrase may have originated with a pamphlet "Speak Truth to Power: a Quaker Search for an Alternative to Violence", published in 1955. It's someone who can...and is willing to admit that there's some "Trump" in him....that might be a very valuable force for change when asked to "come on board" by the POTUS. So far many men....and quite a few women...have tried. None have succeeded.

Robecology comments on Jun 17, 2019:
We all "hook up" with different levels of partnership. It seems so rare to be a 5 (or 3, or 7) and find a "similar number" that you "click" with. The trick is to really know your own "number" or "level". So we evolve the various honest, semi-honest, sort of honest, or even sardonic/sarcastic comments that "end things" with the mis-match. Not a bad thing...really. All the phrases on the left can be 100% genuine. They also can be 100% "contrived". If you're "faking it" too often it's time to re-evaluate who you are and what you're seeking. If those on the left all seem to have been said by you with total truth - that, too, is a sign for a need to self-evaluate.

Not true to me. Slightly "offensive" when I'm spoken to like this. In Transactional Analysis; these comments are the equivalent of parents talking down to a child. They might work if you're a parent, talking to a child. But they don't work if it's one adult to another. Look up "Transactional Analysis - images"; this is a classic "crossed" Stimulus-response - which often stops or ends a cooperative communication. To me they're less of an "I love you" than the actual - face-to-face, slowly and intently spoken I L-O-V-E Y-O-U. Tell me you love me -adult to adult or even child-to-child. Don't talk down to me. I was happy when I left the "loving care" of my parents....I don't need an adult being "parental" to me.

Robecology comments on Jun 17, 2019:
When I was out West at a big cattle ranch, I asked the owner why he hadn't switched to the cheaper-to-raise Buffalo. He said because basically "they have no neck" He pointed out that cattle heads are easy (and cheap) to lock in to position for slaughter. Buffalo; not so much. "They need an expensive "harness" to have them hold still for the "butchering". I did more research - and found that if you eat buffalo, the main reason they're still so expensive is that they have to be "field slaughtered" (yep - shot in the head)... then the flesh needs to be transported in. No "corraling buffalo"... Besides; "corraling" boosts nervous hormones in cattle; which we consume. Buffalo get slaughtered "by surprise" and don't go through that "corraling stress" that builds up all the toxic hormones in the beef we eat. Maybe a good reason to eat the pricier buffalo?

I have been offered "belgian Waffle makers" by many a kind and generous friend and family...and will not succumb to having one. No matter how "nutritious" the ingredients, you're basically making a newer, unusual form of bread - a carb that's proved deadly to dieters and those trying to lose weight. I wouldn't pay a penny if I saw one at a garage sale...and I love garage sales! But kudos on reaching your goal weight! Mine's still 7 pounds away; and I've been hovering in the mid 140's too long, now. Time to get serous.

We jumped in to the Vietnam war on the fudged and forged "Gulf of Tonkin" incident. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Tonkin_incident We started the Iraq war with the fudged and forged "Weapons of Mass destruction" incident. https://www.vox.com/2016/7/9/12123022/george-w-bush-lies-iraq-war If Bolton and Pompeo get their way with Trump - we're likely to attack Iran and "fire-up" the warriors in Trumplandia. A "war" would make us look heroic as we march in to Islamabad (Iran's capital) and "liberate" them...but many Iranians don't want a war.... While US saber-rattling can be dismissed as a political maneuver by the President to feed his ego and build support in his base, Iran’s actions and reactions must be seen in a different light. The Iranian government is based on an unbending and violent ideology. Since its founding, Iran has banked on its military to impose its will on its citizens as well as export the Islamic revolution. Iran's citizens, by contrast; want peace, and want to live "in the style of the West". Let's not get carried away with "liberation"....we could end up starting a nuclear tit-for-tat launch.... https://www.npr.org/2019/06/14/732619332/iran-denies-u-s-claim-that-it-attacked-tankers-in-gulf-of-oman
Is it too much to expect one man to be satisfied with one woman?
Robecology comments on Jun 16, 2019:
Alvin Toffler covered that topic well in "Future Shock" Paraphrasing; "100 years ago we had far fewer chances to "meet" potential mates for several reasons; -our life was shorter. -the population was smaller -the community was more religulous/traditional Today, with 158 more births, than deaths, every minute (227,000 per day) our life extended by healthy measures....there's far more people interacting for a much longer time; so...more men and women interact, more often...and relationships change faster than ever. But to be fair, let's reverse the question. Is it too much for one woman to be satisfied with one man? The answer to both is...yes...it is too much to expect a man or a woman to be satisfied in a monogamous relationship for many decades. That's why long-term relationships are becoming rare, and divorces are over 50% after 7 years.

Wise to not be confrontational. We know the religious are, sadly #Religulous...suffering delusions. suffering the brain-washing of myths since childhood. Robecology comments on Jun 16, 2019:
There's love, hate, and indifference. Those who go in to a tirade are in the "hate" stage...they either 1. Have doubts about their own convictions, or 2. Are exhausted with the constant proselytizing, or 3. A little of both. The "indifference" strategy is, to me, the best. You ignore the shouters and proselytizers because you're convinced they're wrong, and you're right. You feel sorry for them because they're so obviously brain-washed. You almost empathize with their naivité. Don't hate. Be indifferent.

If you own a "dutch oven" (large, heavy pot with lid) and a regular oven, you don't need those plug in slow cookers. I imagine you might save a few pennies of energy; but my go-to slow cooking tools are a large lided pot and an oven. Kudos for NOT owning a "slow-cooker".

I won't venture a guess regarding non-college Atheist/agnostics; but I think the stats from Pew is very telling; Of "college/university" educated (graduates? not clear).... Unaffiliated (religious "nones") 25% Atheist 5% Agnostic 6% Nothing in particular 14% Don't know 1% So of the 25% who indicated "none" only 1 in 5 had the conviction to declare Agnostic or Atheist. The "nothing in particular" are still "fence sitting"...so that's about half of the "unaffiliated". So this, in itself, is an important stat. When I searched "general population of millenials - non-college students - relgious/non-religious data" I found almost the same breakdown...but 11% more "unaffiliated" and 9% more "nothing in particular" Unaffiliated (religious "nones") 36% Atheist 6% Agnostic 7% Nothing in particular 23% Don't know 1% So your question was a good one; there is a difference (don't know if it's statistically significant or not) between college ed and non-college ed youth/millenials. https://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/generational-cohort/younger-millennial/

Robecology comments on Jun 15, 2019:
In a recent paper, the Democratic voter-targeting firm Catalist projected that about 156 million people could vote in 2020, an enormous increase from the 139 million who cast ballots in 2016. Likewise, Public Opinion Strategies, a leading Republican polling firm, recently forecast that the 2020 contest could produce a massive turnout that is also unprecedentedly diverse. Both are democratic/leftist leaning journals. I'm afraid it's wishful thinking...I sure hope they're right....but after the 2016 debacle I doubt it.

Robecology comments on Jun 15, 2019:
Damned! I had to look this one up! Too funny! Here's my theory: After repeatedly failing to capture Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote has his sights set on the Roadrunner, but since his brain failed him so many times before, he has lost confidence in his intelligence and is blind to the fact that the ACME products will never work now matter how many times they blow up in his face. Quite literally. Wile is so determined to catch the Roadrunner that he has taken a vow if silence until he meets his goal, which is why he usually holds up sighs and why most people think he can't speak. And because he refuses to eat anything else, Wile has lost his strength and is unable to catch the Roadrunner on his own. A feat which would be very easy in real life, after comparing the speed if a coyote to that of a roadrunner. https://aminoapps.com/c/cartoon/page/blog/why-cant-wile-e-coyote-catch-the-roadrunner/xpRI_2uNGPrMBNBqeRB4nMwM42531
