Challenging question. I try to live by the "good times and bad"/through thick and thin/like me but never change me" thing...but they're just so different in lifestyle from me that I'm more happily alone now than I've ever been. There's only three of fellows that i can call l long time friends...and they're not close by nor spiritually close...we enjoy annual visits together...that's about it. We rarely exchange gifts. My brothers and sisters are emotionally caught up in their own lives....and are just too "different" for me to "befriend" them in any way. Sure; I send birthday greetings....but that's about it. All my ex's are no longer "friends"....except my son's mother...and she's a strange one who...well...let me leave it at that. I have an off and on....and off...and on....relationship with a woman "friend-lover" but I guess she's my closest "friend-in-need"...I feel she's "high maintenance" so I stay away from her as much as possible - very happy with the 120 miles that separate us. .

Wasps are predatory insects. They attack and eat (quite gruesomely) all forms of caterpillars... ...often laying eggs inside the bodies of caterpillars and letting their children eat them alive from the inside out. They're very defensive; and will sting you if you approach their nests. Unfortunately they often create nests in doorways...so they must be removed. But do leave as many of them as you can tolerate; they do good things for the enemies of our garden. If you're ready for a gruesome video...watch... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhUhkvlY23k

He knows his only path to possible nomination is in the Dem party. #5. Be patient. Watch the debates; now only a month or so away (late June, 2 days, 10 candidates each. Important highlights of Mr. Lovins speech - such eloquent wording! **SAD and Sorry that the presentation didn't include the graphics he references throughout his speech. The sound is garbled as well** Having said that; I so totally respect Mr. Lovins that I watched the whole speech, and summarized as follows. -What if we could 'make energy do our work wtihout being our "undoing"? -Fire made us human. -Fossil fuels made us modern -Four fifths of our energy comes from burning 4 cubic miles of the swampy remains of primeval swamp goo (each year). -The present fossil fuel-based energy system is inefficient, disconnected, aging, dirty, and insecure. -This optimism is based on no new laws..no new inventions. Get us off oil and coal, and down to 1/3 our natural gas use by 2050....very possible and possibly cheaper. -start by getting cars off oil, because they use half of it (our daily use of FF's). -Cars will be first and most important if we focus on two areas; Electric propulsion and ultralight body materials, focusing on carbon-fiber technologies. -We can and should introduce the "feebate" system of taxing inefficient cars and power plants, and subsidizing EV makers who focus on lighter body weight and yet stronger, more efficient propulsion. -Carbon fiber-helmet harder than titanium, weighs less, and is made in a minute. -biofuels can effectively replace gas and oil; and 2/3 of that can be obtained from our wastes. -We can and are progressing toward greater electrical efficiency to where we will use less to get more done. -Both gasoline and Electricity hit a maximum use in 2007; they've both been going down since. -The key to improving energy efficiency is "integrative Design". -In the Empire state building for example, we proved that we could make all the glass windows let in almost the same amount of light and almost no heat...improving the efficiency of that building two fifths (40%) in 2010. We set up a window remanufacturing facility on one of the vacant floors and remanufactured all 6,514 windows. We then renovated smaller chillers rather than adding bigger chllers...saving more $$. -we're doing this in other buildings in Colorado and Arizona. **I'm sorry; I stopped summarizing because I felt I was wasting your time and mine. I'll search for better coverage of this very important talk**.****

You laugh....but Bears do prefer certain fermented sugars...in fact; a record number of camper coolers have been raided...and guess what was their favorite "food item"? - - - - - - "In 2004, federal wildlife agents found a black bear passed out on the lawn of a resort in Baker Lake, Wash., after drinking 36 cans of Rainier Beer. When the agents tried to chase off the bear, it simply scampered up a tree to sleep it off for another four hours. The best part? The coolers the black bear raided contained both Rainier and Busch beers, but the bear ignored the Busch after trying only one. Agents finally scared him/her off, but when it returned the next morning looking for more suds, they could only catch him/her by placing two open cans of Rainier in the bear trap. https://www.backpacker.com/stories/ask-a-bear-can-bears-get-drunk

I know my grandparents and even my dad's "grouchy" almost always led to stress and illness for them. Even Red Foxx used to proclaim "it's the big one" when he was stressed....so we finally learned that being grouchy hurts us more than solves any problems. Having said that; let me put my demographer/scientist hat on and give you some theories as to why being "grouchy" is going away. There's a few reasons; #1. The population is growing. The world has tripled in population since I was born in 1945; population density creates profound changes. Search "population Density and Social pathology" and a great book to read on this topic is "Future Shock" by Alvin Toffler. #2. We're getting away from the traditional, #religulous, nuclear family. Our elders used to live with us...that's trending away. Maybe our grand and great grand-parents had good reasons to be gouchy? #3.Up until recently our longevity was increasing; more diseases were being "cured", more focus on diet and exercise, mental well being. etc. gave rise to folks living longer, being kinder (less grouchy ).

As we warm up...and keep adding warm bodies (158 more births, than deaths, per minute, 227,000 more per day, a million more every 5 days, 85 million more per year)... We're going to have to talk of eliminating all exothermic - heat producing, or heat-releasing - reactions. That means we have to end any kind of burning. Even "clean fuels" - hydrogen, bio-fuels - are exothermic Nuclear energy will go first; it's very exothermic; and proven too hard to regulate. Fusion will never happen. Last to go...and very well established in Iceland - is geothermal. But Solar, wind, tidal, running rivers will save us...if we get our population growth to stop. But we're very pro-"growth". Until we get to ZPG...and get serious about quantity of life vs quality of life....global warming's threat to inundate where 90% of the population lives - within 10 miles of a water body - will have to be considered. http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock/pop/

I feel sorry for Mr. Chomsky. He's got too negative a world view IMO. Yes; the "doomsday" clock puts us dangerously near the end. But I see too narcissistic a leader to see him pressing buttons to send nukes all over. https://www.nbcnews.com/mach/video/the-doomsday-clock-has-us-at-two-minutes-to-midnight-1431364163634

Robecology comments on May 16, 2019:
@Phayon; The dating situation you describe depends a lot on you. I see you only posted one pic. That won't work to well for you. A.com allows plenty of pics; so post plenty - of you doing different things, dressed differently. Women want to "identify" with potential partners; so use that to your advantage. Go in to more detail in you bio. Ever married? kids? Things you do for fun? Food prefs? Job/career? Let the ladies know what you do and how you like doing it. Of course dating and meeting folk is awkward. Just buck-up...do some positive self-talk, and start interacting more.
