Dating profiles, am I right?
Emerald comments on Mar 16, 2019:
I pass on men whose first comment to me is about my body. I also think there's a sort of arrogance about men who try to hit on women 20 years their junior. I get that a lot of men are attracted to younger women. That doesn't mean younger women are attracted them.
Robecology replies on Mar 16, 2019:
@MrLizard You said, above, that you're 60 and she's 40. Then you said "I am in a relationship with a younger woman, but we're much closer in age."....40 is NOT close to 60....but maybe she's mature, and your youthful...so you're biologically "closer in age"...but 40 is not close to 60. Kudos for having a relationship with a much younger woman...but you need to be honest with us...which is it?

@TomMcGiverin I agree; and have (as we've discussed) been guilty of waiting for someone to change....who tried...but then fell back. So your point is well taken. But allow me to rant - self-talk, really...seeing if what I say makes sense to me. @UUNJ was pointing out that there was "zero physical chemistry".... All I was suggesting is that sometimes someone comes in to our lives who we work well with, become friends with...but have...as she said zero physical chemistry. If the person chooses, they can take that lack of chemistry as a lead, or hint...perhaps....if they want physical chemistry....it's time to do something which will take their physical appearance to the next level. When I met my most recent - now ex - lover...I politely pointed out that there was little "physical chemistry"..but that she could change that. Maybe I shouldn't have suggested that.... But it did lead to 12 years of a fairly fun relationship. Now I see that I didn't inspire her enough to change...was it "fair" to expect her to? Probably not. How do you define "fair"? But it's nice to know that some people think you're inspirational. If she had, in. fact, stuck with it...got in shape, stayed in shape, kept up with my need for fitness and fun...that would have made my life complete? Which reverts back to your point...as you suggest... our mileage varies. I'm living alone...learning to accept that. Point taken.

@ToolGuy C'mon, ToolGuy....there you go again with extremes.... "But market systems NEVER evaluate these things before we rush ahead with them." You're kidding, right? The evaluations are ALWAYS what slows innovation from making marketing realistic - for almost all products. Fortunately, we. are learning more about the corruption involved in evaluations...because you finish with an accurate comment... "we allow markets to determine the outcome of the technology, we get the plastics industry and other fossil fuel technology that is choking the planet." ....this is obviously the results of a rush to market for products that haven't had enough longitudinal (long-time) testing....or we can trace back to their "evaluation" as being shoddy, hasty, and obviously biased.

Robecology replies on Mar 12, 2019:
@ToolGuy; you're being presumptive and insulting. I didn't "fail to understand the technology". You failed to understand the alt-energy efforts. I read the link. they themselves said "a largely theoretical technique in which CO2 (and potentially other greenhouse gases) are removed directly from the atmosphere." "safe and long-term CO2 storage cannot be guaranteed, either in geological formations where leakage is a risk (see CCS factsheet1) or in products using CO2, where carbon is likely to end up back in the atmosphere one way or another" so #1 I didn't fail to understand it. I understand it. It's a waste of time and money. #2; It's not so much about making fuels as removing CO2. Cleaning our oceans will be the best way to facilitate removing CO2. #3.We don't want more fuels. If it's cheaper, faster, and/or easier than producing methane from animal waste, I say it will make a good interim source - until we go fuel free. But the process appears to be expensive and complicated; and the few fuel companies that showed up for the conference turned down the offers to adopt it. Give it a rest, please. I'm not impressed...and let's be more respectful of each-other's POV. http://www.geoengineeringmonitor.org/2018/05/direct-air-capture/

Robecology replies on Mar 11, 2019:
@ToolGuy Fuels need to be burned. Scientists call this "exothermic" or heat-releasing reactions. They also are "oxidizers" gulping pounds of Oxygen per minute, and exhaling pound of CO2 per minute. And I'm sure you know by now the heat trapping power of CO2. EV's do much less of that; and with alternative energy (like wind generation, water flow generation, or solar-photovoltaic) becoming "endothermic" or heat absorbing, more and more EV's -every day - are charging without burning fuels. Right now, with EV's depending on 70-80% fossil fuel, their efficiency translation comes out to from 85 to over 100 MPGallon equivalent of fuel burning. Soon - within decades - we anticipate that we can also end nuclear heat (also exothermic) and geothermal (again exothermic) energy. The point is we need to stop adding CO2 and other heat trapping gases as well as heat to our planet. It's true; dinosaurs survived without seeing snow nor ice...but if we continue using fuels we will overwhelm our atmosphere. and we could wipe out nearly all animal and plant life on land within decades. We're warming our planet at an absurdly fast pace. It might result in Runaway global warming. Even sea life would be endangered at the present pace. https://www.apnews.com/71ab1abf44c14605bf2dda29d6b5ebcc

More Americans go bankrupt paying health debts than all other nations combined. Have you been to a hospital lately? Have you noticed how many doctors are foreign based, or speak with accents? That's because America no longer makes the best and brightest. I'm also sure you've heard about the student loan debt issue. Yet America has over a million Deca-millionaires. Folks that make $27,000 a day. Do I feel I have a "right to their money". No. Do I feel that to "Make America Great Again we need to tax the uber wealthy a few more percentage points to bring us back in to world standing? Damned right I do...and you should too. That's why I back Sanders who isn't a socialist...but wants to MAGA....like you Trumpsters said you do....

Did you know this? I didn't know this! How to eat a pineapple. [facebook.com]
Robecology comments on Mar 10, 2019:
It looks like the Pineapple needs to be quite "aged" or almost over-ripe. I looked this up.. this is pretty much how I do it. BTW...When you remove the "crown" you can put it in water and grow new pineapples.... First, trim all the "flesh" away from the leaves at the base; so you're just left...
Robecology replies on Mar 10, 2019:
@Hathacat Indeed...a tiny pinch of baking soda might make them more tolerable....I can't do without my regular supply!
