DenoPenno comments on Mar 4, 2019:
Indeed the false "red scare" goes back into Eisenhower days and is put on Bernie and AOC wrongly. The move now is to convince everyone (or as many as possible) that there is no chance for us unless we re-elect Trump. I'm going on 73 and I've never seen, heard, or read more political lies in my life....
Robecology replies on Mar 4, 2019:
You point out how the "red scare" started with Ike (and his change to "under god" in the pledge and on money" ). and how it's "wrongly put on Bernie and A.O.C." Then You say "The move now is to convince everyone (or as many as possible) that there is no chance for us unless we re-elect Trump." .??? Huh? I don't see that move... You recognize (unlike most Trumpsters) that Social security and Universal health care are good... You say that the red scare is caused by people other than the common man (i.e. our wealthy) who want to keep their money...again, anti-Trump/pro democrats... Then you ramble on about the falsehood ("Nothing even close to this is happening") of Democrats supporting efforts to murder aborted babies...another anti Trump position... These are all sounding anti-Trump...pro Bernie/democrats, to me. Do you not see your own confusion? Why would you suggest we re-elect Trump? I'm confused. Please clarify?

Robecology replies on Mar 3, 2019:
@ToolGuy They're making fuels. The future demands no fuels. No products that burn. We don't need the emissions. We don't need the heat. EV's don't "burn" fuel - except indirectly through power plants - and they are reducing Coal and Nuclear every day, world wide; Clean alternative (mesothermic and endothermic (heat neutral or heat absorbing) processes will be our children's future. Fuels will be gone...soon. Not in our my lifetime; but within a few decades.

Remember; Lithium is a product of surface mining in most locations. It's a by-product of salt-pond mining. It's relatively easy to mine from ocean water, and recently ocean-covered deserts. I've even seen images of copper mines and other "open pit" mines from FFC (fossil fuel consortium) supporters; who would openly lie to distract and divert...make folk worry over a relatively simple, environmentally friendly mining procedure. Also remember while Lithium is the name of the battery, it plays a crucial role in its operation...yet is a minor part of the contents of the battery. Also it's very recyclable.....it's not "spent" nor dangerous like nuclear fuel - in old batteries. The more you know about the L-I battery, the more you want it developed. According to David Deak, chief technical officer at Lithium Americas, formerly of Tesla, “In the short term the CO2 footprint from [lithium] hard rocks (mining in Australia) will be less than ideal, but it is still extremely beneficial in offsetting the CO2 emissions that otherwise would come from internal combustion engines.” Furthermore, renewables are beginning to dominate every sector of society - including the mining industry. Thus, the impacts of a more energy intensive extraction process will be mitigated by the renewable energy that will power the mining operation. https://blog.pickmysolar.com/how-green-are-home-batteries-the-environmental-impact-of-lithium-ion

Robecology replies on Mar 3, 2019:
You make a good point. There needs to be so many things that are 'synched" for intimacy to occur. Posting on a public place to strangers is a start...The real work occurs when there's a meeting. Do we appeal physically to each other? Mentally? Emotionally? It takes a lot of work and a lot of time. Men are - from a biological standpoint - the seed planters. They avoid...as you've noted...intimacy. The challenge, then is put on the woman to make that intimacy worth while. We need to get back a lot of devotion for us to want intimacy...but it starts with us "giving" first! From seed, to style, to emotions, to knowledge....we have to "turn them on" if we want intimacy....it can't just be requested on social media. We're civilized now. We can't just expect devotion because we're seed planters and providers. That worked up until the middle of last century. It doesn't work that way anymore...

Progressives and socialists are far more cognizant of the effects of growth on climate and social well being than the #religulous conservatives. Please; prove me wrong? And even though "sleeplessinTexas said "I know nothing about him" I did research his name, his blog, even his book. I even "looked inside" (as Amazon offers) and read a bit of the intro. I did some research before I made the request that she got upset over; ("Another categorization expert? What pidgeon-hole do I fit in to? (LOL!)") Even the first sentence come off as arrogant and pretentious; " I am a personality expert."....wait...what? How about a resumé? At least a list of your works? Nothing? I'm sorry...this comes off as beyond absurd. I wouldn't even say I'm an expert BS detector without giving some background.... But even an amateur B.S. detector can see through this guy. Sorry. Lighten up, Sleepless. I was simply challenging his hypothesis. All scientists do that. Apparently everyone else, above, is doing the same! @Marionville I didn't see it as a dispute. I had a tough time calling a grilled ham and cheese a "cuban" for a while, myself. But you bring up a good point....naming dishes...a rather absurd exercise. My original question to Vineet was why was he calling it a "Cuban sandwich"..When I asked him to describe his "cuban" he said "Well cuban in all manner except bread and grilling" To that I said "huh"? and I still say that means it's not a classic "Cuban sandwich" by a long shot. No bread? Not Grilled? That's a plain ham and cheese sandwich...albeit an "Earl of Sandwich" sandwich!

@Marionville And after researching "Fish and Chips"....I found this; Like Morecambe and Wise or Wallace and Gromit, fish and chips are a classic double act - and yet they started life as solo performers. And their roots are not as British as you might think. The story of the humble chip goes back to the 17th Century to either Belgium or France, depending who you believe. Oddly enough, the chip may have been invented as a substitute for fish, rather than an accompaniment. When the rivers froze over and nothing could be caught, resourceful housewives began cutting potatoes into fishy shapes and frying them as an alternative. Around the same time, fried fish was introduced into Britain by Jewish refugees from Portugal and Spain. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8419026.stm

@BD66 There's capitalism in Venezuela. Groceries, soft goods, furniture....all capitalist. You've been propagandized by the Trumpsters. What's happened is that when America realized the VZ has a huge amount of oil they went to them...and they got greedy. So VZ "nationalized"...made the oil owned by "the state" to get more of the profits. This resulted in many wealthy - and many poor - in VZ. The inflation went to triple digits. The poor in VZ are getting thinner...and dying of starvation. But this made the capitalist Oil companies of America very happy. Did you know that of all nations, The U.S. has the lowest tax rate on fossil fuels? https://images.theconversation.com/files/53943/original/m5hxp2cm-1405472295.jpg?ixlib=rb-1.1.0&q=45=format&w=1000=clip The US wants you to stay addicted to fossil fuels. They want to move away from middle eastern fuels (except Saudi fuels...where 15 of the 19 9/11 suicide hijackers came from)...trump's buddies. The Autocratic Socialism of VZ is much more like 1940's and 50's Russian Communism. Universal health care, and AOC's (and Sanders) drive for higher education is Democratic Socialism. Please, read up and get better informed before you jump on the Trump bandwagon and say VZ's "socialism" can happen here. https://www.johnlocke.org/update/sanders-and-ocasia-cortez-are-not-socialists-so-what-are-they/

"Not because James Madison’s system has failed but because today’s abject careerists have failed to be worthy of it," Will added. "Congressional Republicans (congressional Democrats are equally supine toward Democratic presidents) have no higher ambition than to placate this president." Will continued that the failure of Congress to respond in productive ways to the president has impaired the Constitution's separation of powers. "The Republican-controlled Congress, which waited for Trump to undo by unilateral decree the border folly they could have prevented by actually legislating, is an advertisement for the unimportance of Republican control." Will's criticism comes after a tumultuous week for Trump — one in which he ultimately signed an executive order to stop the practice of separating families at the U.S.-Mexico border. It remains unclear, however, how or when the thousands of families divided will be reunited. Will has frequently criticized the GOP under Trump. Last week he accused the party of being subservient to the president while making an appearance on "Real Time with Bill Maher."

Deiter comments on Feb 25, 2019:
As far as politics goes, urban America agrees with the Hollywood elite. But so what? As long the electoral college exists, that sea of underpopulated, overworked pissy red gets to continue to pull us into disaster.

Good POV....it's exactly what Bill Maher said at the end of his show Friday Feb 22...He recommends that Bezos looks to middle America for his next Amazon HQ. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/02/23/bill_maher_amazon_should_build_new_headquarters_in_middle_america.html

This is interesting, comparing the live aid performance to the movie. I really like the movie. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8z6wJHPhJUM
