As a child I had a traumatic even occur. I was 7 or 8, trying to "be brave" and ride out a fierce lightning storm in a dark attic bedroom...when while I was watching out the window I saw a bolt strike a neighbors house. It literally "blew a hole in the roof" which ended up as a fire. My parents called the fire department thanks to my frightful rant....but it traumatized me for the rest of my life about watching storms.

I'm of the school that suggests that we "become" human over the years. We are not, in fact, according to most behavioral scientists - human at birth. We rarely can recall anything beyond (younger than) 3 years old....so I honestly think this time; post 3 year old - is the beginning of our "human-ness". And consider this; if birth control devices and advice were freely distributed - the number of abortions would drop drastically. We wouldn't need "abortion rights" if family planning tools and advice were freely available. Abortions would still exist if - for example - we discovered the embryo we had created was "faulty" - deformed, or otherwise...we'd still have an excuse to abort. So those who fight abortions are being solidly hypocritical (as the #religulous often are) because they also fight family planning tools and distribution.

I concur with most social morés...free speech should not include profane speech, nor hate speech. ...and the old saying "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" is very applicable, here. I made it to "Red" belt; (white - green - orange - red ) but the further requirements made me and my son stop there. To go to "black belt" (actually midnight blue ) required a LOT more work. Us old guys have "bucket lists" of places to see...I heard about the Pinons of St. Lucia....and went with an old college buddy (the ship is the "Mandalay" and the website is Windjammer (https://sailwindjammer.com) and this is the last season of the Mandalay before she gets overhauled (badly needed). Rates are phenomenal...but getting there's a bear. I guess you could say 'traveling" is my latest passion...road trips in my Tesla...or flights....then sailboat cruising. Next plan..any of the WindStar ships...either the caribbean or the Meditterranian (SP?)
