Very happy to have discovered this site.
Robecology comments on Jan 22, 2020:
You might want to ask the administrators.... go to your home page...scroll down to the very bottom, and click "contact"...then send them the questions you're asking here. That might be the way the admin/owners make money to keep this site afloat....by "selling" contacts to other dating sites, advertisers. etc. I think you can opt out of that...but you have to talk to them.
Some things still work just as well as they always did, try a bed recipe, for example.

Wow! I didn't know the difference between "sourdough" and "yeast" leavened bread until they explained it! Interesting! And you even made me look up "leavening" The list of chemical leavens contained baking soda, baking powder, horn salt (a.k.a. baker’s ammonia), potash, etc. The list of natural leavens contained yeast, beer, yogurt and buttermilk. Who knew? Not me!

Enchanting? Well...amazing in it's clarity and color, for sure! I did some research; Dartmoor is about as far south and west as you can go in England; so they have a lot of misty, moss-covered parks and woodlands - mainly thanks to being exposed to the warm waters of Gulf Stream! Folks often declare such unusual growth as "enchanting" or "spiritual" or "haunting" - but we agnostics don't see it that way. it's just beautiful, old growth, carefully photographed. No need to get #religulous on us!

Robecology comments on Jan 20, 2020:
In a few words; you're crazy to believe either. Not crazy; just delusional. The lower images are the sensationalist interpretation of the 1980's "Ancient Aliens" theory - The history channel did video presentations of the views of author Erich von Däniken in his pseudo-scientific Chariots of the Gods" book from the 1980's. He became rich and famous from his book...and the video had mixed reviews.... The conclusions that were made... that the ancients did such incredible things, that they must have had "alien assistance" has since been countered (more recently) by more scientific works that prove that ordinary people were, indeed capable of making incredible things....from the huge Nazca Lines Geoglyphs to the Egyptian pyramids, to the "gods" (image above) allegedly piloting rocket ships....were all proven to be just the real images of really good, really hard working, really talented ancient folk...seeking meaning to their existence. Science has recently explained most of these "phenomena"and is now doing what Religion tried to do for thousands of years. Explaining everything from the creation of the universe to the evolution of DNA.... Hence I, for one, say that I do not (a) know (gnostic) that gods exist -nor that aliens exist. I have not seen one shred of solid evidence....and I read Chariots of the Gods"- as well as the bible. So I remain, Agnostic.

It's kind of not funny...it's a rather rude post. All the choices are mild "put downs" or subtly racist. Can't we honor the Chinese better than that? They're far smarter than most of us. http://blog.tutorming.com/expats/chinese-education-system-vs-us-education-system They live longer than most other people... (In China, it was 76.09 years. The world average for life expectancy at birth in 2015 was 71.43 years) https://www.theglobalist.com/china-united-states-life-expectancy-population/ Look around your home at the "made in" labels... ...everything we own was made there. China is the world's leading country in electricity production from renewable energy sources, with over double the generation of the second-ranking country, the United States. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renewable_energy_in_China If their language wasn't so complicated - we'd likely be learning it by now. https://www.travelchinaguide.com/essential/holidays/new-year/history.htm

Robecology comments on Jan 20, 2020:
So you're still a "believer"...kudos for signing on to agnostic! And I concur; they - I call them the #religulous - do try to exploit the almighty $$... But be aware...so do agnostics. What separates us is that** we tend to invest in the future **more; whereas the #religulous invest in the most profitable yet most devastating to society; weapons, fossil fuels, war machines are clearly favored by the #religulous...alternative energy, future crop options are more in tune with the agnostic investor. The wealthy of the past got rich from being first to make weapons, to harvest coal, then oil, then natural gas (the frackers are also among the #religulous...the wiser, more scientific agnostics know fracking is not wise). Go to any famous "rich person's" home and you'll find two things in common; they got rich with fossil fuels or weapons, and they're #religulous. If I may recommend a good book; Maddow's "Blowout". Go here; then click "listen" to hear her read the first few lines... https://www.amazon.com/Blowout-Corrupted-Democracy-Destructive-Industry/dp/0593153456/ref=asc_df_0593153456/?tag=hyprod-20=df0=385115590018=1o1=g=15213245302260320569====c===9012433=pla-828071830471=1===78287769493===385115590018=1o1=g=15213245302260320569==c===9012433=pla-828071830471

I see so many men say nice guys get overlooked.
Robecology comments on Jan 17, 2020:
The Christian "ethic" - for men to dominate, women to conform - is, sadly, still with us. Thus many less then perfect men work hard on dating, capturing, and claiming a woman who's hot, fit, and attractive. These average looking guys with the beautiful women are often the ones who have the $$$$. The HFA (hot, fit, attractive) women know that men with money will gladly pay through the nose for the company of that woman. Those of us agnostic men of modest means who respect "being fit" and close to ideal weight have a very small field of choice if we want to meet and date a "fit" woman. So I leave you with a question; How often do you see an average looking woman with a "hot" guy? Equally rare, IMO. Much more rare; how oten do you see an average looking guy **of modest means** with a beautiful woman? I'd say - rarely to never.

No...it's concentration is not significant (presently only 3% of the total of all greenhouse gases). https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/overview-greenhouse-gases The #1 Danger is the simple production of heat by the growing population (158 more per minute, 227,000 more per day, a million more; that's births, minus deaths- every 4.5 days). https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/ The #2 danger is the increased combustion to keep these 227,000 warm, well transported, and well fed per day. The #3. Danger is CO2. Th3 #4 danger is CH4...methane. Solutions; 1.Family planning; 2. Education; a smart population is far more "in tune" with family planning. 3. There's more to "chemistry" than meets the eye. Sometimes you create the "chemistry" before you actually meet a new person; good breakfast, good weather, good things going on in your life creates a more "sexually positive" POV..then whoever you meet...regardless of their "attributes" - will "turn you on". On the other hand; you could be all "turned on" and have a very hot person come in to your life that....well...is too hairy/bald, sloppy/neat etc....you get the idea. So IMO - just keep trying. Men are more "impulsive" and as we get older, we feel that impulsiveness more. Some would suggest that us seniors are getting desperate, or are simply lonely. Some are forthright....some are shy. Not unknown! I heard Al Gore quoted Upton Sinclair in his movie "An Inconvenient Truth" when He said that very saying you allege was "unknown"....and I loved it so much I've saved the meme/image.
Happy Tuesday, Folks! Today's question is: What do you value most in a friendship?
Robecology comments on Jan 14, 2020:
I've been married 4 times. OK...I'm the marrying man. I always (until 2006) wanted to "go further" and make it work....but it never lasted more than 10 years. I've been married a total of 28 years; so I tried hard...and often had my "clock cleaned" when the divorces were finalized. And when the marriages had a partner "cheat" it was always them....never me. I also had - and still have - two male friends that have remained in touch since H.S./college days. In all that experience...I can say there's one thing that I valued most in a friendship; ** positivity.** I've tolerated dis-loyalty - and have been dis/unloyal myself. The "trustworthiness" is a two way street...you've got to be trustworthy to get that from a partner/friend. There's dependability - that should also go two ways... But these are traits "earned" with time. It's a mate/partner/friend who remains "positive"- can laugh, can talk calmly about "mistakes"...(and of course this requires a two-way effort as well...I work hard at remaining "positive"). They're the best in my opinion,...of course. ....Then all the rest - loyalty, dependability, trustworthiness - will fall in to place...
A thoughtful discussion touching on many issues of weight loss, exercise, etc.

The secret (as the article suggested) isn't changing your workouts...it's letting hunger in to your life. I keep this meme on my desktop...and refer to it often. This website report (by Slate, about a graph produced by the CDC) is also important. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/map_of_the_week/2013/04/obesity_in_america_cdc_releases_gif_of_epidemic_over_time.html
It's Monday! And today's question is: What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
Robecology comments on Jan 13, 2020:
Two things; both summer courses offered in relatively far away places. In 1971. I earned a place (30 spots; 800 applicants) in the class at U. of Cincinnati studying the population "explosion".Full room, full scholarship paid for. It confirmed my direction in teaching. In 1988; another academic honor; accepted at the BBSR...Bermuda Biological Station for Research - the course name " The biology of Fishes". This one was much tougher... I spent almost. my enitre 6 weeks that summer indoors...barely got a tan...never worked so hard in my academic life....just squeezed out a C...but what a thrill!
Seems to have his priorities mixed up

Wait; I heard god's a woman....
For a change of pace today I decided to visit a Unitarian Church this morning.
Robecology comments on Jan 12, 2020:
My son and his wife got married by a Unitarian minister, and I, too, had attended their "church". Once. I too, felt good, not "overwhelmed" nor "proselytized" when I visited..but they are a "church", their fundamental creed says there is a "god", a "heaven" a "hell" and an "afterlife"...so I wasn't interested in getting in to any debates with them about "proofs". I won't be going back.

George died before his time. It was never investigated...and he had a history of "events" - and was allegedly anti-medicine - but I think there was criminal negligence in his last days. https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=120502583

Happy Sunday everybody! It's pose your own question day - have at it!

Any total gym users out there? Elliptical machine users? I actually have a T.G. a Nordictrack elliptical, and a desk/bike combination that the son and daugher in law gave me. Any gym-at-home recommendations/ discussion?
It's 65 degrees outside and we recognize them from a mile away.

There really is something to be said about "acclimatization" I remember being able to enjoy swimming in very cold water....now anything below 85º is chilly to me... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acclimatization
Some of us on here continue to complain that nobody responds to their profile or to their greeting -...
Robecology comments on Jan 12, 2020:
Simple formula; the more pics they post, the more current they are...the more they're 'ready" to date/ find other partners. Some are fresh out of a relationship or are still ending one...so they "hesitate" to share pics. Some who are "ready" post plenty....and most, if not all...are current.
They will not catch me.

Sugar beach municipality...(there really is a "sugar beach" in the Panhandle of Florida) Ya gotta give them credit for the wise use of taxpayer funds! Go over 35 MPH? Pull over, son!
