Carbon Dioxide is not the Worst Greenhouse Gas, Meet SF6 [youtube.com]
Robecology comments on Jan 15, 2020:
Misleading. Yes it is a very effective G.H.gas. No...it's concentration is not significant (presently only 3% of the total of all greenhouse gases). https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/overview-greenhouse-gases The #1 Danger is the simple production of heat by the growing population (158 more per minute, 227,000 more per day, a million more; that's births, minus deaths- every 4.5 days). https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/ The #2 danger is the increased combustion to keep these 227,000 warm, well transported, and well fed per day. The #3. Danger is CO2. Th3 #4 danger is CH4...methane. Solutions; 1.Family planning; 2. Education; a smart population is far more "in tune" with family planning. 3. Alternative energy; Hydro has been an effective alt energy source for nearly a century. Wind turbines are relatively new, as are solar PV'S. (Photo Voltaics). China is years ahead of the rest of the world here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renewable_energy_in_China 4.E.V. (all-total Electric Vehicle) Transportation...not just cars. There's more to "chemistry" than meets the eye. Sometimes you create the "chemistry" before you actually meet a new person; good breakfast, good weather, good things going on in your life creates a more "sexually positive" POV..then whoever you meet...regardless of their "attributes" - will "turn you on". On the other hand; you could be all "turned on" and have a very hot person come in to your life that....well...is too hairy/bald, sloppy/neat etc....you get the idea. So IMO - just keep trying. Things will "click" eventually...or they won't?

Robecology comments on Jan 14, 2020:
Men are more "impulsive" and as we get older, we feel that impulsiveness more. Some would suggest that us seniors are getting desperate, or are simply lonely. Some are forthright....some are shy. You no doubt exude a charming personality; so don't be offended by the strong come-on- be pleased that you're inspiring "romantics". The patient ones will stay with you and persist; the weak/truly "impulsive" ones will move on. Use it as a filter.

Happy Tuesday, Folks! Today's question is: What do you value most in a friendship?
Robecology comments on Jan 14, 2020:
I've been married 4 times. OK...I'm the marrying man. I always (until 2006) wanted to "go further" and make it work....but it never lasted more than 10 years. I've been married a total of 28 years; so I tried hard...and often had my "clock cleaned" when the divorces were finalized. And when the marriages had a partner "cheat" it was always them....never me. I also had - and still have - two male friends that have remained in touch since H.S./college days. In all that experience...I can say there's one thing that I valued most in a friendship; ** positivity.** I've tolerated dis-loyalty - and have been dis/unloyal myself. The "trustworthiness" is a two way street...you've got to be trustworthy to get that from a partner/friend. There's dependability - that should also go two ways... But these are traits "earned" with time. It's a mate/partner/friend who remains "positive"- can laugh, can talk calmly about "mistakes"...(and of course this requires a two-way effort as well...I work hard at remaining "positive"). They're the best in my opinion,...of course. ....Then all the rest - loyalty, dependability, trustworthiness - will fall in to place...

In 1988; another academic honor; accepted at the BBSR...Bermuda Biological Station for Research - the course name " The biology of Fishes". This one was much tougher... I spent almost. my enitre 6 weeks that summer indoors...barely got a tan...never worked so hard in my academic life....just squeezed out a C...but what a thrill!

Robecology comments on Jan 12, 2020:
My son and his wife got married by a Unitarian minister, and I, too, had attended their "church". Once. I too, felt good, not "overwhelmed" nor "proselytized" when I visited..but they are a "church", their fundamental creed says there is a "god", a "heaven" a "hell" and an "afterlife"...so I wasn't interested in getting in to any debates with them about "proofs". I won't be going back.

I've always said Bernie is a Conservative in liberal sheeps' disguise. One of America’s most conservative senators has teamed up with the Senate’s only socialist to try to limit Donald Trump‘s ability to send US forces to war in the Middle East. Utah Republican Mike Lee said he would co-sponsor Bernie Sanders‘ No War With Iran Act, which would prevent federal funds being used for military action against Iran without Congress’s express approval.

Bernie Sanders says “some wars are necessary” - World Socialist Web Site
Robecology comments on Jan 11, 2020:
**Bernie isn't blindly against war**. He just thinks we don't have to have "killing contests" to make our point, I concur 100% from the article; “Now, I'm not a pacifist,” he (Sanders) hastened to add. “There are times when war may be necessary. But I believe, as somebody who as a young person opposed the Vietnam War, which was such a disaster for my generation, as somebody who helped lead the effort against the war in Iraq, which was such a disaster for our younger people, that I will do everything I can to resolve international conflict through diplomacy, through negotiations and not through the continuation of endless wars. Enough is enough.” **But to say flatly Bernie Sanders says "some wars are necessary" is a sensationalist headline **from a Bernie hater...IMO.

Almost all U.S. bilateral aid to Israel is in the form of military assistance..." It's true that this species is probably identical to those found in other parts of the world; and once the Yangtze river is cleaned up they might be re-introduced. “The ecology of the Yangtze River is close to collapse due to human activity in past decades,” Pan said. “China has launched its campaign trying to recover the Yangtze River’s environment, and some ambitious policies have been introduced, such as the 10-year ban on fishing activity.” So the Chinese are working...much harder than we here in America - to restore the river. The Chinese are slowiy moving in to a position of global strength and wisdom. They are years ahead of us in renewable energy, for example; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renewable_energy_in_China Too bad their language and its' spelling is so difficult....but maybe that will be our legacy for the future; the world-side dominance of Chinese economic strategy with the world wide usage of our language.

Robecology comments on Jan 10, 2020:
I, too was torn between Trump and Clinton. I was tempted to just "stay home"...and I read that 100 million did just that. Before I continue; you should know I support conservative POV....except, of course, their clinging to the tenets of Christianity. You could say that I'm an agnostic/progressive with Conservative leanings. Trump and his ilk have really strayed off the Conservative agenda. Conservatives believe in a tight budget. He's put us to record numbers on our debt to other nations...mostly to China. And now that Clinton has been cleared of all charges, and that the Russian interference is confirmed...it seems like Hillary might have been the smarter choice. Now I lean toward Bernie. Bernie was my favored choice before Hillary. How, you might ask..would a Conservative favor Sanders? Easy. Sanders wants a much tighter budget. Sanders wants a better, healthier citizenry (health care for all). Sanders wants a smarter America with free post HS college and trade school free for those who qualify. Sanders wants to tackle Environmental degradation with a build up of alternative energy and a final crush on fossil fuels. Trump supports fossil fuels...and thinks Wind turbines cause cancer. What a joke he's turned out to be. Trump and his alleged pseudo-conservative push has led to filling the pockets of the gas and oil barons, while keeping the middle class under the thumb. Not good. And no...Sanders is not a communist/socialist. He wants democratic socialism. Far smarter. Far more budget - conscious. So let me conclude by suggesting that everyone plans to vote. We cannot allow the 100 million that stayed home in 2016 to happen - ever again. You might enjoy this; https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/george-will-on-american-conservatism-and-trumps-lasting-damage

Dating via internet teaches you some shocking realities about the crude/rude world out there....so let's just say there's little to no "protocol" for breaking a first date...it's a whim thing. Be glad you didn't meet her; she's probably like that in her life....switching out without notice, and without logic. By the same token; be brutally honest. If you get a late "red flag" then tell her...don't let her show up to meet you and you not be there. Keep being positive. Keep posting lots of pictures; the more pics you post, the more that potential dates will "identify" with your likes and dislikes. Full body shots are important; She wants to know (and you, in turn, should want to know) what kind of shape they're in, phyique, etc. So post pics of you doing stuff, having fun....and expect the same from dates. And no; she's not interested in you in your bathing suit (yet) nor should you expect her to post that (yet) either...but -...full body shots shows you're not ashamed of who you are and what you like to do.

Yea...I've been called a grammar/spelling Nazi myself....but I let it slide...yet, it does piss me off when folks forget the basics. The problem I think - is that a lot of folks who are critical of poor spellers fail see why. Why, then, do we have a growing number of post-makers with poor grammar and spelling skills? Our nation's education system has gone slack. We've given up on teaching cursive. We no longer see the value of "detaining" students a grade level....it's now considered too "disturbing"...so we have to either help these folks learn the differences...or ignore them. If anyone has a clue? https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/dec/21/how-you-can-donate-and-help-the-volunteer-firefighters-in-australias-bushfire-crisis
