There's a rash of fruit-based brews out there...from Raspberry, to Coconut, to Mango...and it's working. Microbreweries are springing up all over the place with tasty beers that have a unique flavor. They are still relatively bitter (I found that a Mango brew needed a touch of sugar or honey - but that's me)...and still brewed with hops and malt...and the low alcohol gives you a mild buzz, as well.

The only fault I find with your comment is "the NEW front line of the anti-abortion movement. The Religulous value male dominance. They value a man deciding when a family should start. They value a woman keeping a secondary, almost slave-like roll in a relationship. This has been their tradition for centuries. Most religious families have children when the father decides the time is right...in other words...when he has "raped" his mate....and captured her... gotten her to "the alter"....this is the religious way of family creation.

“Bribery, first of all, as the founders understood bribery, it was not as we understand it in law today. It was much broader,” Schiff said. “It connoted the breach of the public trust in a way where you’re offering official acts for some personal or political reason, not in the nation’s interest.” To prove bribery, Schiff said, you have to show that the president was “soliciting something of value,” which Schiff thinks multiple witnesses before his committee have testified to in private.

Why is it that Russian oligarchs are called out as such, but we don't call out US oligarchs?

BINGO! It's the main root. It's the trunk of the tree for our occupation on earth...and it's growing - births minus deaths - at 158 more per minute. 227,000 per day. A million every 4.5 days. 83 million more - births than deaths...per year. ...and that rate's been slowing since it peaked in the 1980's. But at this slow rate decline, we won't reach ZPG until the end of this century; when we're likely to peak at between10 and 11 billion. More people = fewer resources per person = more competition for less and less. And more people need more energy; and the fossil fuel consortium is blind to climate change....so they will keep pushing their product. ....and the sad part is we know what family planning is. We just don't apply it. Please; read and fact check me; this is a great site with a sense of humor (kisses per second, cokes per second, etc) check it out. http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock/

It depends on how you define "collective consciousness". I read a paper in my senior year in HS ('63) that pointed out that any social animal..from ants, to rats, to humans - become irritated and irrational if they get too crowded. It's considered a biological response; but it affects the "collective consciiosness" in that we get protective, withdrawn, introspective and ....well...crazy...if it gets too crowded. ...and right now our world population is growing at 158 more births, than deaths, per minute. Here's my stats check page...http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock/ And here's the article I read in '63 that changed my career direction; https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1501789/pdf/califmed00143-0080.pdf

I tried the veggie whopper. Amazingly good. But double the cost of a real meat burger. The "meat" is a bit mushy, a bit bland...no strong "beefy" mouth feel nor flavor....but a decent meat/high protein/vegan substitute. The price is $7.99 (compared to half that for real beef) so as usual,, vegan/veggie folk will have to pay a premium to avoid meat....but kudos to Burger King for getting nationals production of a meat substitute off the ground. I've substantially reduced my beef/pork/lamb intake...and I know that 10-20% of the animal production for meat is adding methane to the environment - which is 20X more potent than CO2...so the more we boycott meat eating the better for our own personal health as well as our environment's

I think he got arrested for trying to run against Putin? After Kasparov retired, he devoted his time to politics and writing. He formed the United Civil Front movement, and joined as a member of The Other Russia, a coalition opposing the administration and policies of Vladimir Putin. In 2008, he announced an intention to run as a candidate in that year's Russian presidential race, but failure to find a sufficiently large rental space to assemble the number of supporters that is legally required to endorse such a candidacy led him to withdraw. Kasparov blamed "official obstruction" for the lack of available space. Although he is widely regarded in the West as a symbol of opposition to Putin, he was barred from the presidential ballot, as the political climate in Russia makes it difficult for opposition candidates to organize. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry_Kasparov

Robecology comments on Nov 7, 2019:
The elements don't "disappear" - they just get tied up in the trash stream. Simple solution, as he said in the 7th minute; we have to get better at recycling. This is very anti solar panel, Lirhium batteries, and technology. No discussion of the rare elements used in Fossil fuel mining and production...but lots of scary news about Solar energy and Lithium ion batteries. Overall good science...and very fact-filled. We need to know their sources. They quote no sources.

He explained - to all of us - that most spiders will bite..but only if "trapped" or "compressed" - if they get down your shirt...they bite. If you squash them in your hands...they bite...but ordinarily they're quite complacent....and their main diet is insects like flies and mosquitoes! I think all relationships start with "fooling around"...a light-hearted flirtation here and there...not a bad thing. The lyrics give away a "bad boy" who "loved them then left them alone""....due to sloppy match-ups...no doubt...but it was a catchy tune... Fooled Around and Fell in Love Elvin Bishop I must have been through about a million girls I'd love 'em and I'd leave 'em alone I didn't care how much they cried, no sir Their tears left me cold as a stone But then I fooled around and fell in love I fooled around and fell in love I fooled around and fell in love I fooled around and fell in love It used to be when I'd see a girl that I liked I'd get out my book and write down her name But when the grass got a little greener on the other side I'd just tear out that page But then I fooled around and fell in love I fooled around and fell in love Since I met you baby I fooled around and fell in love I fooled around and fell in love Free, on my own that's the way I used to be But since I met you baby love's got a hold on me Ooh it's got a hold on me now, hey I can't let go of you baby I can't stop lovin' you now, hey 'Cause I fooled around, fooled around, fooled around Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around, fell in love Fooled around, fooled around, yes I did Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around, I fell in love Fooled around, fooled around, fooled around, fell in love

If you want healthier plants try "miracle-grow" or any good strong fertilizer... Plants make their own "sugars" and will do so more easily of they're provided with an abundance of nitrogen, Potassium, and Phosphorous...(notice; all minerals....no organic molecules in them) - the famous "threesome" in all good fertilizers - when you see those numbers on any fertilizer bag; that's the percentages of these minerals that are in the fertilizers.

I'm currently in queens, waiting to run the marathon! 26.

Good morning! I just had the perfect question for you, and as I opened the group to pose it .
Robecology comments on Nov 2, 2019:
Did you ever make a list...then leave it home....but you recalled well what was on the list? It's called making a neural pathway. Just like if you run through a tall grass field once, you barely notice a path. If you run through it twice, the path is much clearer? That's how our brain works. It really helps to "take notes" or write stuff down...or even note it on your "phone" (on the calendar, or in "notes") even if you leave the list! You've just doubled your memory time and detail by doing so. (You can probably tell I'm a retired teacher).

Occam's razor; _"the simplest explanation is usually the best"... He was wealthy. He hurt a lot of women. He was in jail. His future looked grim. He took himself out. Was he worried about implications of his actions on the president? Possibly. Did the president's men take him out to shut him up? Possibly. But not likely. https://www.snopes.com/news/2016/06/23/donald-trump-rape-lawsuit/

Good morning and Happy Halloween! Do you like to read?
Robecology comments on Oct 31, 2019:
If you love historical fiction...I have a "must-read" for you. "The Egyptian" by Mika Waltari. This book...and the story it builds around (a child found adrift in "the reeds of the nile" is raised to become a "healer"...ends up deeply involved in "healing" the Pharoah...and discovering that he was a likely pharoah himself"....but with a real historic timeline...leading through Ramses and Tutankhamon... I've read it 3 times... I've loaned out copies that were never returned... but I've bought new ones.... https://pictures.abebooks.com/isbn/9781556524417-us.jpg
Good morning all.

I have a random physics question for science types here, would be curious to hear some thoughts.
Robecology comments on Oct 31, 2019:
Remember; that rod is made of atoms of metal. There's lots of space between the atoms of that rod; in fact even the densest substances known to us still is mostly "space"....so you can bet that the whole length....even a modest length - say a few meters long - would not move, or roll, or rotate together...if the force were applied at one end. That's what torque measures...rotational force. If you had a really long (say, hundreds of meters) metal rod with the same diameter...I'm willing to bet that one end would go 360º while the other will not move for a few seconds...maybe even longer?
