This man was as close to a Cannabis addict as you might have met. But they're out there. I knew one. Died young. decades ago. Loved running and staying fit....but also had a chronic cough from an almost non-stop cannabis smoking habit. I agree with you...legalization will help the nation - but not just because of the obvious positives. Yes - regulation will make jobs. Keep folk out of prison. Allow users to know the strength of their product. Allow huge tax incomes. Reduce the legal expenses of persecution and imprisonment. Free many who've been unjustly accused. But... I think it will give a chance for fellows like you met to get help without fear of legal retaliation. I stopped only because I kept checking my BP when high...and it was through the roof. And there's many death certificates out there that lie when they say the cause of death was a stroke or heart attack. Us users know the truth. Their families know the truth. It was an "overdose" of powerful cannabis. Don't tell me you can't be addicted to cannabis or die from it. I've seen it happen.

Interesting joke...a lot of golfers do take the game too seriously. I recently went out with a player who urged me to put away the score card. "Be prepared to lose a dozen balls, take a "mulligan" (do-over) more frequently...and you'll have more fun"... ...and it's worked. The more relaxed I got...the better the shots I made. But I did lose a few balls, and took a lot of shots over! I don't think that "imaginary ball" idea would work, tho!

These men are sacrificing a masculine outfit to be part of an artistic effort. Maybe their motive is the purity of the dance. Maybe they're just happy to be close to such beautiful, fit women But they're there...wearing very feminine outfits...because the costume designer demanded it. They're either well paid....or well compensated with the presence of the women, or the right to participate in a professional dance company. I concur with @Alvinsmama....the "dresses" were too feminine - but the costume designer is either very persuasive or very rich....

What does everybody here think about the importance of chemistry to a relationship ?
Robecology comments on Jun 8, 2019:
Chemistry or "spark" is important...but too often it's something subtle - even subconscious - that triggers - or doesn't trigger - this spark. That's why several dates and "taking it slowly" is important. Habits - good and bad - need to come out. The tolerance for habits needs to be tested. This takes time to make a relationship work.
I know who this is, do you?

And, yes....I'm 73 years "young".
Does being Buddhist make one an atheist?
Robecology comments on Jun 8, 2019:
It's a good question; only because Buddhism doesn't believe in anything mythical happening to the founder, Buddha...Although the stories of his life are filled with alleged mythology, there's nothing about him dying and being 'reborn' or being born of a virgin. One of its principles, however, will make you "religious" for following it...and atheist for not following. ** The concept of believing in "re-birth" or coming back to life in different forms. ** This has no foundation in reality. No evidence. No support. Not one scientific hint of reality. Hence; *if you follow any of their are technically "theist"..*.. Buddhism (/ˈbʊdɪzəm/ is the world's fourth-largest religion with over 520 million followers, or over 7% of the global population, known as Buddhists. Buddhism encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices largely based on original teachings attributed to the Buddha and resulting interpreted philosophies. Buddhism originated in ancient India as a Sramana tradition sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE, spreading through much of Asia. Two major extant branches of Buddhism are generally recognized by scholars: Theravada (Pali: "The School of the Elders") and Mahayana (Sanskrit: "The Great Vehicle"). A note about BCE; BCE (Before Common Era) and BC (Before Christ) mean the same thing- previous to year 1 CE (Common Era). This is the same as the year AD 1 Most Buddhist traditions share the goal of overcoming suffering and the ***cycle of death and rebirth***, either by the attainment of Nirvana or through the path of Buddhahood. Buddhist schools vary in their interpretation of the path to liberation, the relative importance and canonicity assigned to the various Buddhist texts, and their specific teachings and practices. This doesn't mean an Atheist can't be "buddhist-like". It's a practice of calming and meditation. It embraces science and wisdom - it doesn't shun it. Perhaps some day there will be a group that practices Buddhism without the belief that you'll die and are reborn. Perhaps some day some scientist(s) will provide evidence that our atoms and molecules can all assemble 100% and form the being of another plant or animal. Odds are good that this might happen... but not good that it can ever be proven.
Robecology comments on Jun 8, 2019:
Forget the child rapists. The church has always welcomed male dominance in a relationship...not just against the kids. When women marry, their traditional vows are to "obey" - remember? The church (and for that matter, all the religions of the world) expect male dominance. The men - according to any #religulous - are the family planners. The women "offer" themselves "when the men are ready" they've basically fostered rape in relationships; couples have sex when HE's ready....not her. Is it no wonder that the abortion issue is rearing its' ugly head in Republican dominated states?
Ha ha ha. Not even a question.

There's 3 strategies for handling folk who don't debate well. 1. Ignoring. 2. Blocking 3. Reporting. If they've blocked can reply with a top-level, fact-filled, link-backed debate...or - if you can't reply to her... ...just continue to ignore. Have you considered why she's "harassing" you yet blocked you? could be a love/hate thing. If you can go to their page, then On the right, about half-way down, is "report/block" Do so.

Robecology comments on Jun 8, 2019:
It's different from "like". It takes more time to develop. it might be stronger than liking Its' opposite is hate....the end of love is indifference....not hate. Hate is when you've been let down by the alleged love/lover. Indifference also takes more time to develop than hate.

The CBS TV series "God friended me" caught my eye because it came right after 20-20. Having watched a few chapters....I like the concept. The story line goes something like " a computer wizard "tags" an atheist/agnostic vocal podcast producer with folk who, at first, he doesn't see why someone named "god" on the internet/facebook would single this "tag" out as a "friend suggestion". But the podcaster seeks the person out...finds out how he's "connected" to the person....does something to "help" that person, and then the show ends...but not before a new "friend suggestion" pops up at the end of an episode. After several episodes, we see the podcaster re-connects with his father ( a very good and seasoned actor who plays a minister in a local church) a smart cutie (for the romance/eye-candy aspect/hook), an asian/middle-eastern computer wizard, and eventually the Computer wizard" who's playing "god" and proposing these weird "friend suggestions". Cute story. Not a bit #religulous but they don't ever "assume" the supernatural elements are either true nor "correct"...but they do point out that they are benevolent (almost beyond belief)

Robecology comments on Jun 7, 2019:
I don't want to call it a "dark age"... I'm feeling that these last pushes toward conservatism, toward resisting women's equality, towards racism is just that...last pushes from the "cornered rats" who feel desperate that their way of life is no longer "the ideal" What's ideal? -I'm afraid to use the term; but in a word...."Globalism". That would be... -all of us speaking one language. -no borders -one economy -stabilized growth, the new word will be sustainability. -A population that's reached ZPG. -Little or no "religion". Charity still working - but not because an imaginary power demands it. -Most, if not all "diseases" cured. Anti-aging chemicals and genetic procedures allow us to stay fit and healthy decades longer. -No burning of fuels for energy. Not coal, not fossil fuels. Not hydrogen, not wood, not cow chips. -No need for "combustion"...except for entertainment. -We would even phase out nuclear. Geothermal's already in place in Iceland, for example; so I'm not talking about putting wind-generators or tidal-flow gens there unless they see that the transition would save them from tapping in to the potentially unstable source of geothermal in to the stable sources of wind and tide flow. When will we reach it? I'm guessing in anywhere from a few decades to 100+ years. We are getting close.

Good morning and happy Friday! Today's question: Do you think aliens are real?
Robecology comments on Jun 7, 2019:
I've talked about this many times. In a few words; Yes they're real; but no; we'll not likely talk to them, let alone meet them, any time soon. I'm sure that there's hundreds of millions, if not billions of habitable planets, a few million of which have evolved life, a few thousand of which have evolved advanced civilization, a few hundred of which...even in our galaxy, have evolved radio communication and interplanetary travel Now, Let's look at the odds of us even talking with them. Assume we've spent 100 years sending out Radio and TV signals. So right now, a civilization of aliens, say, up to 100 Light years (LY) away from us just got the signal and translated it to something they comprehend. Within 100 LY of us is 500 stars. Let's apply the 1 in 10 rule. Of the 500 1 in 10 have habitable planets. That's 50 of the 50, 1 in 10 are likely to have developed advanced life forms; that's 5. Of the 5, 1 in 10 have developed radio communications; that's now down to 0.5 star systems; within 100 LY...that are likely to have picked up an old radio or TV broadcast, and translated it. Do you see where I'm going with this? Watch; then comment...

I have a TBI and it caused me a lot of mental health issues. I wish I never had my TBI.
Robecology comments on Jun 6, 2019:
Wishing you never had an injury is like praying to a god. There's just no point in 'wishing" it wasn't so... Try as best you can never to mention 'you wish you never had TBI. Say instead...I'm making progress - a little each day - on conquering TBI. You're talking to us. That's progress. Move forward. Don't wish it weren't so. It just hurts you to do so.

"A god who does not share in the suffering of the world is not a god worth believing in...." Stephen Fry. interview here... (2.25 minutes.seconds)
From June of 2018 in Eastern Colorado (my dad's farm).

Nice! great detail. Nicely focused.
Guten Morgen from hot sticky Florida, where it will be in the upper 90's again today! But I regress...
Robecology comments on Jun 6, 2019:
I was industrious as a kid. I sold seeds (I had made a string to hold a box of seeds around my neck) door-to-door, I asked my dad to make number stencils so I could spray paint them on the curbs for a fee. I also sold American flags and light bulbs! other jobs I held before I graduated and became a teacher... -paperboy -hamburger/flipper/sales -gas station attendant -life-guard -swim coach -delicatessen "stock boy" -stock person at "Mays" department store -camera sales and stock-clerk I guess you could say I worked hard to earn it....
Beyonce and jayzee nude...
Robecology comments on Jun 6, 2019:
Almost sad about this; neither look happy, or "in to" eachother....such a false, phony looking shot....sorry; me no-likey!
Who wore it better?
Robecology comments on Jun 6, 2019:
Anyone remember the song that 'the monster" was singing? I do....
I can think of a few others, too!
Robecology comments on Jun 6, 2019:
That's the key to "eternal life" memorable things; Don't ask friends to simply "remember you" something that they will remember you by. Then you will literally "stay alive" in the minds of at least one generation. Truly great ones will live for several generations due to famous speeches, good acting, good books, and/or good works.
