Hey folks. The question is often asked "can I find someone on this site?
Robecology comments on Jul 2, 2019:
Your post is confusing. You "met someone" on this site....but later in the comment you say you're "not single"? So...you got married to the woman you met here? When I hover the cursor over your intro you say some rude, profane things about people who are a......s and d.....s; then you also say you're a first grade teacher? You might want to clean that up, as well.
What would it take to get the. Vomit and yawn emojis back?

Robecology comments on Jul 2, 2019:
Wow! Researchers have suggested that the finding may reflect an example of self-mummification where monks undertook years of grueling rituals to mummify themselves to death. The practice was also widespread in Japan, starting over 1,000 years and continuing until it was banned in the 19 th century. For the first 1,000 days, the monks ceased all food except nuts, seeds, fruits and berries and they engaged in extensive physical activity to strip themselves of all body fat. For the next one thousand days, their diet was restricted to just bark and roots. Near the end of this period, they would drink poisonous tea made from the sap of the Urushi tree, which caused vomiting and a rapid loss of body fluids. It also acted as a preservative and killed off maggots and bacteria that would cause the body to decay after death. In the final stage, after more than six years of torturous preparation, the monk would lock himself in a stone tomb barely larger than his body, where he would go into a state of meditation. He was seated in the lotus position, a position he would not move from until he died. A small air tube provided oxygen to the tomb. Each day, the monk rang a bell to let the outside world know he was still alive. When the bell stopped ringing, the tube was removed and the tomb sealed for the final thousand day period of the ritual.

Living on the beach - and visiting beach resorts on the "4th" - I'd suggest doing that. Many fireworks - both pro and amateur - take their goodies to the beaches for parties and displays. @RavenCT I think the present system is intentionally complex to avoid or discourage massive random blocking. If someone's being a "jerk" - you name calling them is the lowest form of debate - and shows that either you're admitting they possibly have a point to make that you object to - or they truly are ignorant and offensive - but again; name calling and blocking them doesn't address the issue. Challenge them. Ask why they think or comment the way they do. That way you're educating them, and you're raising your own awareness. There's ignoring, as well. Don't be afraid to debate. And don't "take offense" so easily. "You add to the suffering in the world when you take offense, just as much as you do when you give offense." Ken Keyes Jr.

No carbon brick formation will do anything of consequence to end the growth of CO2 in the environment. This is putting an undersized bandaid on an advanced for of cancer. We know how to fix this. We need to attack the source; not make carbon bricks that ocean plants do far more efficiently and faster. We need to; Stop the federal supplementation and "subsidizing" (paying broke companies to keep at mining and refining) of fossil fuels. The United States has spent more subsidizing fossil fuels in recent years than it has on defense spending, according to a new report from the International Monetary Fund. The IMF found that direct and indirect subsidies for coal, oil and gas in the U.S. reached $649 billion in 2015. Pentagon spending that same year was $599 billion. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/fossil-fuel-subsidies-pentagon-spending-imf-report-833035/

Let me share something from the CDC that might help you get over that diet "hump". The CDC is serious. If we don't get down to an ideal weight, we are shortening our lives...or accepting that shortening by tolerating our weight gain. You may have read me write about this before. I'm writing this as a way to self-talk - to motivate myself to lose my extra 10 pounds I've been carrying around for decades. Remember; changing your diet is tougher than quitting smoking or getting off heroin. Drug habits start in our teen years... Food habits start before we can walk and talk. So be tolerant of your addiction; but realize it is an addiction...and fight hard to extend your life - and get to your ideal weight. http://www.slate.com/content/dam/slate/articles/news_and_politics/map_of_the_week/2013/04/130417-MOTW-obesity-map.gif

Bees, like most stinging insects, only attack as a last measure. Remember; bees lose their life to sting you just once. Did you know you can hold most spiders in your hand? Just don't ever try to "restrict" them from moving...or they will insist that you don't quite harshly. Good news about bee keepers and honey collectors; most bee keepers are going to more "neutral-smoke" for "smoking" hives... "Smoke masks alarm pheromones which include various chemicals, e.g., isopentyl acetate that are released by guard bees or bees that are injured during a beekeeper's inspection. The smoke creates an opportunity for the beekeeper to open the beehive and work while the colony's defensive response is interrupted." They still can be "stung" if they trap or compress an individual; so careful bee-keepers avoid doing this. Bee smoker - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee_smoker

One thing I love about being married is knowing you'll have someone with you until the end.
Robecology comments on Jun 28, 2019:
Marriage is a challenge. You have to learn give and take. You have to learn compromise. Some say it's a higher level of relationships.....some suggest it's more challenging to live with...and love....yourself. I just stayed with a couple who have been married 52 years. They sleep in separate rooms. Act rude to eachother. But still do things for eachother. I'm not sure if they're very happy. - - - - - - - - I've tried Both. 1st marriage; 10 years (she died young, of cancer). 2nd...11 years. 3rd only 2, the fourth only 5. Living by myself was frightening and insecure at first. I'm finally falling deeply in love with exactly who I am...no compromising. More challenging? Easier? Not sure.

Here's an explanation of the "Crowder" phenomenon... https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/06/08/greenwald_steven_crowder_is_a_contemptuous_cretin_but_youtube_caved_to_mob_begging_for_censorship.html
Steven Crowder is a fucking moron.
Robecology comments on Jun 24, 2019:
@TheGreatShadow....so instead of ranting what a moron he is...state why you think so. What "right wing propaganda" does he post, and where does he post it? To just state that someone is "a moron" is....a bit moronic.
Does anybody really think Trump is smart enough to come up with "I didn't think it was ...
Robecology comments on Jun 24, 2019:
I think he reflects a lot of what Stephen "Sig Heil" Miller and KellyAnne "Con-job" Conway tell him.
Genetics allows us to fall in love so we can raise our children.

Very strong "generalizations" - and I'm afraid you're not correct. Search "religious trends, data, charts, U.S./world" Agnostic.com is growing for a reason; there's been a significant turn away from being #religulous....thus, you can no longer say....especially here...that "people learn fall in love with a super being and they call it god". "we fall back on the same old refrain"....sorry....not me. And who's "we"? Nope... people are "indoctrinated" in to religion....there's very little "learning" going on....it's more of a cultural saturation that happens in religious families from day 1 of life. https://www.pewforum.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2015/05/PR_15.05.12_RLS-00.png
Sweet or savory?

So, I was talking to Heidi this morning about what we could make for breakfast this morning .
Robecology comments on Jun 24, 2019:
You just increased my hunger factor...good ideas! So instead of your starch/carb being a lasagna noodle, you made it a potato-layered decadence....I think there's a different name for that - I'm wrong...it IS called a potato lasagna! https://tasty.co/recipe/potato-lasagna
Now is not this the truth

Or "Dripatory"?
What do you think of that adage that you "have to love yourself before you can love someone else?
Robecology comments on Jun 23, 2019:
if you don't love yourself, or there's things about yourself you dislike or hate...It''s my opinion that you should at least be aware/cognizant that you're "addressing" these things. Again...that's just my opinion. I don't want an argument about that. Take it for what it's worth...but don't tell me I'm wrong. IMO.....Some slough off things they don't like about themselves as "bad habits I got from......" and leave it at that. I say to them, as politely as I can....that you need to at least consider trying to realize they're bad, why they're bad, and what plans you have to reduce or end them. Otherwise - how can you like - or dare I say - completely love - yourself? Again - this is just my opinion.

Alcoholics Anonymous... Is a religious cult?
Robecology comments on Jun 23, 2019:
The twelve steps that are a strong part of AA is religious-christian based. I wouldn't call it a cult...but it's a cult-ish approach based on "trusting the savior"... I heard, or read, that there's a growing group of un-religious AA groups....

This cartoon apparently is making fun of those who "edit" Wikipedia; But my point is.... It's not as easy as you think to "edit" them. I have studied "Egyptology" and tried to edit "Ankh" in Wikipedia; and got hit with a barage of questions asking my qualifications. So...I get the joke...but it's now a very "dated" issue....
Just a quick one about huge things, I enjoyed the presentation. [youtube.com]
