This "event" is a good "drill". As we continue to grow, as a population...there's only a few things that can push us to extinction... -diseases -wars -overheating. There is one humane, well proven way to prvent this "growth"...it's called "Family planning/birth control. Our growth is a relatively unknown fact; -158 more births than deaths per minute 9,500 more per hour 227,000 more per day 1,000,000 more every 4.5 days. (to check my data, go here;https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/) Our consumption is unequal; The average U.S. citizen, uses up the equivalent of 30 Chinese and 50 Eastern Indians. The US is 4.5% of the world's population but we consume 18% of it's resources. This Pandemic is a warning. an omen. A token wake-up call. A mild slap in the face. We aint seen nothin' yet. Check this out...informative; https://www.internationalbusinessguide.org/hungry-planet/

Unbeknownst to many Americans, there is one legal scenario in which the president’s power substantially increases. This is the moment he declares a national emergency. Although Congress has passed more than 100 provisions that outline the power that the president gains in this circumstance—such as the ability to shut down media channels or take them over, and the deployment of military troops inside the United States—there is no legal definition of a national emergency. There is no requirement that Congress ratify the decision. There is no judicial review. In other words, the decision to invoke emergency powers is left entirely to the president’s discretion. wow....

The one area where there's a lot of "gas-lighting" is the I.C.E.car.(internal combustion engine). In the 50's and 60's they were far simpler...I changed the piston bearings on one. Now the tech people have made them too dependent on tech hookups for analysis. Enter the EV (Electric vehicle). Far simpler. 90% fewer moving parts...and Tesla just reduced the wiring inside them from miles to meters in length. I'm not saying they're easier to work on by us ordinary folk; they still need tech connections...the point is they'll need far less maintenance once the bugs are removed. Science is in a very critical race against religion. (see graph, below) The very existence of humanity is at stake. If science rules; our population will level off, the planet will stop warming, we will stop polluting, we will recycle more, we will live in peace. If religions and mythology wins out...then we will go in to unstoppable global warming. major disease kill-offs, more wars and crime... and extinction.

Robecology comments on Mar 13, 2020:
Governments are about "growth". No governments have recognized the importance of "sustainability" or leveling off - simply because that means less profits and wealth for fewer people. All governments give tax discounts for larger families. This welcomes growth. Most governments subsidize and support fossil fuel R & D...this prolongs and intensifies global warming/climate change - but they don't care. They want their money. The officials of government feel the poor and ignorant should be the victims of climate change, species and habitat loss, rising seas, and intensifying diseases. They assume that the greedy/wealthy will have access to better food, housing, tools, and careers - it's the modern version of survival of the fittest. The fittest are - in their eyes - the greediest. They - the wealthy who are also in positions of governance - see little value in family planning. They want and expect sudden attrition by storms, pestilence, etc. That's why the #religulous, the Republicans and conservatives - fight family planning, and promote private schools. They welcome the tax loopholes. So...sadly....I concur; we are "still headed in this direction". post edit; I read what I wrote; and I my discussion and conclusions are rather somber. I am, however - an optimist. I suspect (and strongly hope) that this November is the beginning of the end of greedy, wealth-oriented, growth oriented governments. I think that once we've been through a hurricane season - and have a scary big one hit a major metro area - that the powers that be will see the negative effects of welcoming growth. Here's a presentation from a favorite CEO of mine; I don't concur with his push for a Carbon tax. I do believe that car battery research is about to turn a corner and make EV's far more available - essentially killing the fossil fuel and gas-engined car businesses...and helping our planet recover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKCuDxpccYM=IwAR3ttXRoZE4TH2OI4VDw1qediNVGMWH9IU1wecWO3GMKYVCrtyGfgDLpMEw

When I catch a good "flick" (movie, video...not even sure what they're called these days) then I will naturally stay up late. It happened recently when I saw that HBO was sharing "RocketMan" for free...I've watched it a couple of times...the cockney-british accents and fast talking makes me miss what's being said...but the music and acting on this one has been exciting. @FlippantLlama. Nautiness? You've gotta tell us!

Robecology comments on Mar 13, 2020:
Good point about the goggles needed. What I'm reading is that the masks are better for potential carriers than potential victims; better to prevent spread then to resist it....so if you aren't ill, and haven't tested positive for carrying COVID 19 then you're wiser NOT wearing a mask...BUT using precautions about where you go, how you sanitize, etc. https://youtu.be/Ded_AxFfJoQ

Such a unique photo! It could be Black and white if you didn't look closely at the old stand of corn in the distance, or that red car or tractor fender in the field, on the right. Brrrr....it's excellent!

It's all about self - awareness, and self-discipline; If you value your time in your body, and your time in existence...you work to keep it. If you let decadence dominate your life, it will be shorter. and you will suffer more ill health sooner. it really is about the attitude you were raised with - and now possess.

Here's another great article on the latest about COVID -19 "... if your government is hesitating, these restrictions are up to you. Stay put. Do not travel. Cancel that family reunion, the promotion party and the big night out. This really sucks, but these are special times. Don't take risks. Do not go to places where you are more than 20 people in the same room. It's not safe and it's not worth it." https://www.newsweek.com/young-unafraid-coronavirus-pandemic-good-you-now-stop-killing-people-opinion-1491797

Robecology comments on Mar 12, 2020:
I just visited Melissa the "worm woman" of Broward county (Southeast) Florida. She is a real expert - she got a grant out of college to go in to the earthworm-compost business...so if anyone is interested in getting shipments of earthworms. Compost tubes that she makes them herself out of PVC...if you don't want to buy the actual tube I'm sure she'll send you directions. It's actually earning her a living here in Florida! If you're interested, PM me? Thanks. (3 pics, one of Melissa "in action" digging her worm compost, the 2nd is some art work in her garden...the third is me, and her and some friends holding one of her compost/earthworm tubes)
