So yes....she responded to my "condition" and got much healthier....but then fell back in to neglect - of taking care of herself. It looks like the Pineapple needs to be quite "aged" or almost over-ripe. I looked this up.. this is pretty much how I do it. BTW...When you remove the "crown" you can put it in water and grow new pineapples.... First, trim all the "flesh" away from the leaves at the base; so you're just left with vegetation and a core tip. Then put toothpicks in it...to hold it upright...and submerge just the tip in water. Change the water every other day for several weeks until you see tiny rootlets sprouting. Once the rootlets sprout find a spot in a sunny Florida, South Texas, Hawaiian (of course) or Southern California garden. I've been giving collections away...to friends....even to Ex's...I gave a miniature purse collection to an Ex...probably one of my poorer/less wiser decisions. I have still a collection of 6 different "Lava lamps"...one original from my hippie days...others found at yard sales. I met Carolyn Gordon Fuller...a senior Key West artist, in the 1990's and, inspired by her blue bottle wall I collected dozens of blue bottles....but her wall was "crashed" in to and never repaired...and she passed away....so I discarded the bottles. It's clearly a tongue-in-cheek commentary....and I do like American coffee...but hate any service centers (and most single-serve machines) that produce a too-watered-down cup. I like a strong, bold taste...hate any watery coffee. I drink it as close to black (rarely, if it's brewed just right..black) as I can handle, and - forgive me sugar purists - with sucralose (splenda). NOT nutrasweet (aspartame) NOT sweet-n-low (saccharin). Tests prove them toxic in large doses...not true with Splenda. The sugar buzz gives me...along with the caffeine - a bit too much of a high followed by a strong urge to nap....
