For what reasons do you believe Trump will loose the upcoming election?
RoboGraham comments on Feb 17, 2020:
There are plenty of Christians who are disgusted by Trump. I think he will lose because there is a very popular great roots movent building momentum and Trump himself has expressed apprehension about running against democratic socialism. People understand that Bernie policies will actually ...
RoboGraham replies on Feb 17, 2020:
@rainmanjr If Bloomberg gets the nomination we are doomed. He is an extremely flawed candidate and millions of people including myself will never ever vote for him. It just isn't possible. He has nothing to offer but money. That won't work. A candidate needs a message, something to offer the voters. Mike has nothing but money. We tried a flawed centrist last time. It was colossal disaster. This time will be worse. The only way to beat Trump is to run a true populist. Someone who can get the working class in the rust belt to shift back over to the democrats. Someone to energize the youth and encourage non-voters to vote for a change. That someone is Bernie Sanders because he has something significant to offer, something beyond personal wealth and being slightly less horrible than Trump.

@FrayedBear First off, he isn't taking about eliminating people who are a drain on society, he is taking about exterminating an entire political party of millions of people. Second and much more importanty, if you are okay with the elimination of any group of humans for any reason, you are despicable and ought to be shunned. This is not negotiable, it's way out of the bounds of appropriate conversation. It is a crime against humanity. Wars have been fought over this. I really didn't expect anyone to defend his disgusting ideas. I now view you with the same level of distrust and abhorrence with which i feel toward him.

@Athena When I see Pete's face, I get a slight ping of anxiety. My mind unconsciously understands that it is looking at a villain. The good thing is that, now, people are much more aware of what is happening. Oddly enough, we have Trump to thank for that. His ranting against the fake news got the news so worked up and biased that people started to see it. The Mueller report was such a dud, it became crystal clear to all who were paying attention that it was just a distraction. They needed to blame someone and something for Clinton's colossal lose of what should have been an easy win so they went way out there. They couldn't reflect on their faults and realize why they lost. They couldn't go after Trump all that much because they are in lock step with all the same corruption he is into. So we got Russia, Russia Russia, Bernie Bros caused her to lose, and Jill Stein people did it. Never did they take any of the blame themselves. They learned nothing. And then there was the impeachment. Nothing but political theater designed to create the perception that the dems are vigorously opposing this dangerous president while simultaneously, they capitulated to Trump on his space force, his gigantic military budget even bigger than the already way to big budget, they extended the patriot act for him, they gave him wall money after a meaningless shutdown fight that accomplished nothing, and they gave him his updated NAFTA. All while arguing that he has abused his powers so egregiously that he ought to be removed from office. it's truly stunning how corrupt they are and how dumb they think we must be to just sit back and not do anything about it.

This idea that he does not do well with voters of color is just factually wrong. What is also factually incorrect is when you say that he is a socialist. There is a big difference between socialism and social democracy. Bernie has no problem with free markets and people getting rich. You're right, he has over a million dollars himself. It is insane that a person who did that is gaining traction in the democratic primary and the only reason it's happening is because he has billions of dollars and owns a media corporation. The party has two factions but it is still united. Most everyone is willing to get behind the winner. What I'm saying is that if a billionaire manages to take over using his nothing but wealth and insider influence, there will be no more unity. The party will become two parties.

RoboGraham replies on Feb 15, 2020:
@BD66 Gotcha, So is it a true story? What I don't understand is how people who both have some knowledge of 20th century history and are not fooled by religion are unable to distinguish between socialism and social democracy Let me lay it out for you. Socialism is when the government controls the means of production and the distribution of goods and services. Does that description match Bernie's policies? If you think no, then you see that there is a difference. If you think yes, well then you don't fully understand what he stands for. We already have social democracy in this country, Bernie just wants to extend it. His model is Keynesian, in the same vain as FDR. Here's how it works. Markets are free but regulated. There is meritocracy and people are able to use their hard work, talents, and wealth to gain wealth. The tax rate goes up the more wealth that a person makes to prevent extreme income inequality and that wealth is invested in the society. Everyone benefits from universal healthcare, public transportation, universal education, subsidized housing etc... This allows the people at the bottom a chance to get ahead and cuts down on the poverty rate. Government spending stimulates economic development and a healthy productive society is the result. To lump Bernie in with the Stalins, Castros and Maos of the world is just ignorant. Those were authoritarian communist dictatorships while Bernie is proposing something totally different from that and much more akin to the Nordic model which has worked so well for Scandinavia. It is a conservative idea, to go back to the economic model that led to the fastest growth the country has ever seen. The country was extremely prosperous following the New Deal. Although taxes were high for large earners, GDP increased rapidly and the middle class grew and became wealthy. Poverty rates dropped along with income inequality. Now we are living under Reaganomics and the false idea that wealth trickles down. When at the top, wealth stays at the top. When it is invested in the society for the common good, it trickles up. It's no wonder why there are so many homeless people today. So many who can't afford healthcare. Life expectancy is declining, suicide rates are increasing, wealth inequality is sky rocketing, student loan debt is ballooning, minimum wage and wages generally are stagnant... Many people in my generation can't make enough money to buy a home and start a family. The American Dream is dead for millions of us. Both parents must work full time to afford housing and two cars but day care and healthcare is so expensive that it just isn't feasible. This is what happens when the government puts the profits of corporations above the welfare of it's citizens. Does that help you to understand why so many ...

@Lorajay The best way to flip the Senate is to nominate the best candidate with the most popular policies. People come out to vote for president and vote for down ballot races while they are at it. High turn out is essential. If we don't have a good nominee, the Senate, and probably the white house as well, will remain controlled by the GOP. This is why voting in the primary is extremely important.

@rainmanjr There are some issues with Bloomberg. He has so little grassroots support that he did not meet the minimum individual donor requirement to get on the debate stage. He donated some large sums of money to the DNC and wouldn't ya know it, the rules have changed. We call that plutocracy. He was a republican mayor. He has donated to republican candidates as recently as 2018. He endorsed George Bush for cryin out load. He oversaw a policy which allowed police to detain people at random. It was of course used for racial profiling and Bloomberg himself has said that they specifically targeted young black and brown males. Even if you set aside the racism, just the fact that he was encouraging a policy that allowed people to be stopped and searched unconstitutionally is an affront to freedom. it is unamerican. He supported the Iraq war disaster and still maintains that it was the correct decision. If he is the nominee, the democratic vote will be severely repressed. I cannot vote for this man and there are millions of others who have the same reservations. His only advantage is that he has unlimited money. I see that as a major flaw. I don't want another billionaire holding the highest office in the land.

@OwlInASack Sure the racism was a big part of it. Here's the thing though, in the blue rust belt states, we would expect the democrat to do better with the working class, not get equal numbers. Trump's promises about bring back the coal industry and keeping the immigrants out so they can't take your job was a big part of his appeal there. Many people are racist. And that racism comes out the strongest when they are struggling economically. Demagogues are able to to blame scapegoats for that economic pain and use it it to their advantage. If those people weren't struggling, they would be less likely to fall for those despicable tactics. I'd imagine it's the same in the UK. You guys went from having a mighty empire and dominating the world to struggling to recover after the crash of 08 in a relatively short period of time. People are pissed so those underlying racial hatreds come out of the shadows.

@kensmile4u Okay, setting aside the unfairness he faced in that primary race, sure he lost. That was then. The main reason for the primary is to discover who has the largest voter base right? Let look at things now, he is the front runner who just won Iowa. His name recognition is greater. His movement is larger and stronger. He is shattering individual donor records and pulling in more money than the rest without resorted to taking corporate bribes. He has millions of motivated volunteers constantly advocating for him. He got an endorsement from the most influential podcaster in the world. His rallies are always filled to the brim with cheering crowds. Biden is falling off a cliff. Mayor Pete has no support from people of color and little support outside of the two early states. Bloomberg is a former republican oligarch who instituted a racist policy which allowed police to unconstitutionally detain people for no reason. Warren is lagging behind. He has been fighting for the working class all his adult life and Trump can see that people who voted for him in 16 because they were hurting economically, will switch to Bernie now because his policies haven't done them any good. He understands that Bernie's proposals are very popular with people in the rust belt. He can't run the same campaign as he did against Hillary because Bernie is opposed to the trade deals and the wars that are hurting poor people. Trump is politically savvy enough to see that his only real competition from the democrats is the guy who is promising to help the working class as he did but failed to follow through on.
WHY BERNIE WILL BE A GUARANTEED FAILURE?

I'm wondering who you're supporting for the nomination. I hope it's not the human gaff machine.

@St-Sinner Trump was caught on tape laughing about how easy it would be to beat Joe and expressing worry about facing Bernie.
democratic socialism.

You are confusing Democratic Socialism with Social Democracies. Democratic Socialists aren't capitalists. Also, roads, police, fire Departments, etc. aren't exclusive to socialist societies.
RoboGraham replies on Feb 10, 2020:
@MichaelSpinler I believe we need a new term to refer to the social democracy ideology. Socialism has a lot of baggage and it's not even accurate for what we are trying to describe. Socialism is a system in which the government owns the means of production and controls the distribution of goods and services. That is not what Bernie is about. We want a mixed economy that provides more for the greater good by taxing the wealthy and a reduction of wealth inequality. The best word I can think of to describe it is Keynesian.
