I'm a total crutch snob, it's how I roll

So, I'm a bit nerdy, sarcastic, snarky, intelligent, cynical, progressive... all that good millennial type stuff. Dark, dry sense of humor and outlook on humanity in general. I'll also admit to being a bit of a hipster in taste, though not in style. I don't dress like a train conductor or ride a fixed gear bike and i can't grow much of a beard. (A drinking buddy told me I have alopecia areata and i trust his expert medical opinion.)

Aren't we just all seeking a connection? At the end of the day don't we all just want to have somebody to say "I understand.. and I accept you"? So that's kind of what I'm looking for, to connect (whether it's romantic or not) it seems like the internet now magnifies that network of connectivity between individuals but I still have hope that people are still able to find a stronghold in someone else.

Let's connect, even if it's just over something trivial.

If you can accept and connect with someone, regardless trivial differences, I think you might have a real shot at long-term contentment.

Jeff winger said it best "they're part of that whole adulthood-begins-at-thirty generation" that's pretty spot on for me. I got back into college a little later than most but i had a blast, majored in engineering and now i am trying to do the grown up thing. It sucks but the money is definitely better than bar tending (not that i'm trashing bartending, i have tended many a bar, flipped many a burger and waited many a table.

On one hand, I feel like I'm experiencing the same exact thing everybody else does, nobody is happy, life is shit, wall to wall, and we are all just competing to see who can put on the happiest looking face so the world thinks everything is hunky dory and who can die with the most accumulated stuff... On the other hand, I feel like I'm super fucked up for even having those thoughts and if anybody were able to actually see behind my curtain, (not just a glimpse of a fleeting peek) they would be like "ok, Blaine doesn't need to be around people". Both at the same time.

Me-"I'm not the fucked up one, everybody is fucked up"

Also me-"yeah but you are extra fucked up and even all the other fucked up people can totally tell and are judging you for it"

Exasperated me-"whatever, dude, fuck it, just try to act something close to the "normal" you observe everyone else acting like and it will keep this train on the tracks for another day"
