I was born in Battle Creek and lived various places between there and Lansing until finishing high school, when I joined the Navy. Which eventually sent me too Hawai'i, where I stayed for college after leaving the Navy. Then more roaming (I couldn't stop) that included living in NYC, LA, Tokyo, Seoul, and a few months in Bavaria. And Honolulu and Hilo. And now I'm back in Lansing.
I returned in 2020 and deconverted shortly thereafter, so lost my community, so I've been self-isolating for some time because I had been my mom's caregiver for 7 years before she passed last December at 101.
Now it's time to hopefully make some new, like-minded friends, someone to hang out with, see where it goes. Maybe again meet someone special. I was married twice, once when very young; it didn't last. The second lasted 20 years and ended when I needed to care for mom; we had drifted apart, so that was amicable. I've no kids.
I'm an anti-theist and anarchist, so my politics are far left, and enjoy discussing political possibilities, and reasonable discussions about religion and the history of religion (which became the key to my deconvertion (I had been a Baha'i, for 40 years). As a former community College lecturer, I love to talk, to have great conversations about history, art, culture. . .
These days I spent my time writing (a novel), painting (acrylics), and cooking, for fun.
If I seem like someone with whom you'd like to chat, I'd love to hear from you.
