Ego vs Eco. Do both exist? Can we choose one? What do you think?
ShadowAmicus comments on Apr 8, 2019:
not a lot of flora in there - sadly, humans are the only ones who can influence the interdependent cycle of life on this speck of cosmic dust we call earth - and like all species, sooner or later we will become extinct. The sad thing is we are likely to take many other species down with us
I shared this in a comment, but @sassygirl3869 thought it merited center stage.

I've read posts by several ladies on this site who have made various comments about their "FWB.
ShadowAmicus comments on Apr 7, 2019:
I have read many of the comments by ladies who would be offended at 'payment' or 'prostitution' and make an assumption that each has some degree of financial independence - as in not needing additional money to live. I have been on the other side when in my early twenties a wealthy lady (in her 40s) I was working for decided I would be her toy boy - I found out later that this was simply her lifestyle choice. Great sex and I got a couple of nice suits, gold cufflinks for the new shirts, excellent meals and a little training in social etiquette - modelling me to fit her social standing. She moved to another guy after a few months. It all benefitted me greatly; the job itself didn't pay much so I would not afford the clothing or fine food and it spurred me into doing a degree course as a way to attain the 'better' lifestyle - she completely changed my life as without her I would have quietly continued life as a bricklayer.

I make my own and far better than any fast food place ... potato peeled and cut into half x half inch chips (heathens are allowed to regard these as french fries - but the french have nothing to do with it) Place in lightly salted boiling water for 2 minutes to blanch - part cook - remove water (yes it does) When putting into hot fat be careful it does not bubble over - deep fat fryer is safer, but care is needed Pat chips dry and place in hot dripping at 140c (beef or pork fat) and cook till outside of chips is fry hardened - about 10 -12 minutes Heat fat to about 200c - cook till browned to your liking - about 2-3 minutes I tend to cut some chips at an angle, so half inch thick at one end and made wedge like to other - then one end is crunchy on outside and soft fluffy inside but thin end is very crunchy.

I think you are getting too wrapped up in the baldness issue. I shave my head, by choice, and some women hate it (or me) - others really like it ..(but don't know much about me). I don't expect the ladies options include do you shave? or options of bald, brazillian, landing strip etc - which is just as important to some men as head hair to some women. Am equally sure the same applies with hair colout, eye colour or even skin colour - important to some and largely irrelevant to others. The most important thing - not indicated by amount of hair growth or colouring - in any relationship is how well your minds overlap and it is difficult to predict that even when stood beside someone for the first time I just go with the flow - you can please some people all of the time and all people some of the time - you can't please everyone all of the time (yes I know it is a misquote)

Inter-racial dating.
ShadowAmicus comments on Mar 30, 2019:
I find the article so sad - that parental and peer pressure can be so influential as to drive someone to restrict their choices of dating and presumably friendships. Racism exists and has been around for millenia; it is a form of tribalism and will not disappear for generations, if at all - how you allow it to affect you is a personal choice. I have worked for months at a time in places where I was the only white person, only English speaker (apart from interpreter) and in a totally alien culture - you learn to adapt to the culture , pick up a little language, develop friendships and occasionally more. I have found that people all over the world, whether rich, poor, black, brown, white, yellow, intelligent, stupid, healthy, dying, all basically want to eat, sleep and just get on with living as best they can according to their own mores and social values. Does an acceptance of people from other cultures make me abnormal?

Cop out: "Spiritual But Not Religious" [google.com] Agree or disagree?
ShadowAmicus comments on Mar 26, 2019:
I believe many young people have lost 'faith' in organised religion due to easy access to publicity about failings of personnel within religions. Priests sticking hands down childrens' pants - fraud, embezzlement, and other financial scandals - the general opulance exhibited by religions, while asking for donations - etc. When you set yourself up as arbiters of 'good' and 'evil' it becomes difficult to operate in a society where knowledge is so easily shared.... depending of course on the ability of individuals to comprehend the information
Cop out: "Spiritual But Not Religious" [google.com] Agree or disagree?
ShadowAmicus comments on Mar 26, 2019:
The idea that without the king james bible visual art, music and literature would have been impaired is flawed. The influence of religion on arts was predominantly that religious orders had money to pay and subject matter they wanted to disseminate. Had non-religious financial institutions predominated, and wished to propogate the idea of naturism - much of artistic output would have featured naked frolicing. Same logic applies now to any subject matter that artists are commissioned to do....we call it marketing.

ShadowAmicus comments on Mar 4, 2019:
Had to look up Momo - challende leading kids to commit suicide etc (I generally avoid kids - except in orange sauce recipe). Humans have only dominated this planet for a relatively short time - Gaia follows a long term view of change. Global warming is natures way of rebalancing - the world will not become uninhabitable, but parts of it will become inhospitable to humans. As the resources needed to support human life are depleted, the number of humans will fall. Fewer people will mean a diminished contribution to global warming. I am sure the dinosaurs didn't worry too much about that big black speck in the sky - till it was too late...... as it already is too late to stop global warming.
