Slappy_Longarms comments on May 26, 2018:
Don't really consider it. Just do me the best I can and let anything else stick or fall. I can be just as open with a complete stranger as someone I've known ever since, real life or not.
Is the true measure of a relationship it's duration?
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 26, 2018:
Depends on the manner of relationship. Generally, no. Duration isn't a gauge of a good relationship. Ask any person who suffered long in an abusive one because they felt trapped for decades.

What Do You Do When You Are Sad?
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 27, 2018:
I don't really get sad. . Questions like these and the responses always make me re-realize how different my upbringing was. After the first 17 years of life, there just isn't a lot that makes me afraid, angry, sad, etc. Perhaps more a detriment than 'blessing', but then seeing how much so many suffer....I have to wonder.
How did your parents first take the news finding out you're an atheist?
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 28, 2018:
Afaik my parents were too. Religion wasn't a concern.

Captain Beyond's self titled debut. More so the music from 68 to about 72 - it was a wild time in my life and always enjoy listening to it. Frank Zappa, captain beefheart, Alice cooper, Iggy pop, James Brown, Joni mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, etc. I listen to a lot of current and older stuff, but rarely radio. Like big band/swing too.

Do You Feel You Are Mentally Ready For A New Relationship?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 17, 2018:
I'm just happy to meet people. Ready ? As I ever was I suppose. I don't really think in the same realm as most people seem to, so it isn't likely to happen that I'll go into another relationship, but I never thought I would then either. Shit happens.

In your opinion what is the most likely thing that could halt human progress?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
Nothing. Progress can be impeded, but not stopped. Given our short life span we have a skewed vision of evolution. But think of where humanity was even 200 years ago. That's roughly three life times. Still sucks in a lot of ways, but obviously many things have improved despite the impediments of some.
Lost in Translation
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 21, 2018:
I can be very blunt, to the point, some say crude and rude, arrogant, and such. It doesn't bother me, but does bother some folks. Intent vs. perception is a pool of mud.

How do you feel about intentions?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 24, 2018:
In a way it implies belief in a greater granting power - that some force exists that says "yeah, sure, here ya go" based on some nebulous balancing act of life. I don't think it works that way or there'd be no problems for anyone. . Intention within limitation guided by effort. You might make it, you might not.
Let's get to know each other a little more. What was your favorite live music event?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 24, 2018:
They were all good, but : Now I'm not, nor ever was, much a kiss fan. I saw them open for black Sabbath around 1973 or 4..it remains one of the best shows I've ever seen. They were on the cusp of becoming what they became. It was made more memorable because while they absolutely rocked, Sabbath sucked - they were way to high to be onstage. . Seeing Leslie West live in a small bar was amazing. . Humble Pie 1972 - Steve Marriott was a joy to behold. .. Blue Cheer in small venues just before Dickie Peterson died was great. .. Hot Tuna 1972 small college show was great. .. Some more, but you get the idea.

Do you feel any kind of self-restriction in this site?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 27, 2018:
It's as much a dating site as any other group. Random shot at hitting it off with someone if that's what one is looking for. I enjoy reading people's opinions, experiences, thoughts. I like the profile set-up. Variety of topics. Much less antagonistic posting and commenting.

Boundaries
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 27, 2018:
One thing I've always had is a personal code of what I won't tolerate or do. I've had to alter it very little. It has cost some but my internal integrity is more important than what anyone may think, say, or do in response.

CONFIDING.. HELP OR HINDER?
Slappy_Longarms comments on Apr 29, 2018:
I'm open generally - I don't mind talking about experiences, feelings, etc. But I don't care much what others think or say, so it works out. I think most people take things as telling them what to do when it isn't really. I only express what works for me, not what I think anyone else should do - unless they specifically ask for advice, and even that is only saying what I would do.

What’s the one song you wish you would’ve written.
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 6, 2018:
This may sound a bit off, but 'call me maybe'. I know, it's pop drivel but the line "before you came in to my life I missed you so bad" is pure genius. . I'll attempt redeeming myself with "I'm so bad baby I don't care" by motorhead.

What’s the most frustrating thing about getting older?
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 8, 2018:
I like getting/being older. Remembering all I've done, experienced, lived through. I suppose growing body frailty, but even there I just don't exert myself, so it's all good. I've definitely gained a deeper appreciation for simple things.

People say I've been lucky all through my life. That I have good qi....I'm blessed....etc........ I don't know...wasn't so much fun for me sometimes. I've had to live it, not see it. Fortuitous random events that could have easily gone the other way and badly but didnt...., what can you say. Calling it luck as if something bestows favor......naaahh...shit happens or doesn't. My luck will run out. Buy me a lottery ticket too. Who are Jerry and Nasubi ? Tell them but me a ticket too.
Have you ever had in-laws that you didn’t like at all?
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 9, 2018:
Absolutely. And they did not like me. As Al Capone said "I'm a nice guy, but if you're not nice to me that won't be what you remember me for".
My two cents: I don’t normally spend much time reading bios.
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 10, 2018:
I don't write anything with any other intent than saying hello. You read nothing from me I wouldn't say in person. I do like that various question responses are included ( unless you disable it I guess) as it gives a feel for someone s sense of humor or thought processes. But then I'm not really " looking to date"....only meet like minded folks. If something cliks from there, so be it....if not, so be it. For me this is just another online group in that respect.

Atheist jewelry? Do you wear any jewelry that IDs you as atheist/agnostic/freethinker, etc?

No. But I do have a box of jewelry - rings, bracelets, pins. Not big on necklaces - don't like things around my neck. Never wear a tie either.
Do you value empathy?
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 15, 2018:
I think people are selectively empathetic. Same with other moralistic notions. We choose when to place them, or cast aside. Also think the term sociopath is tossed about far too lightly. Most exhibit sociopathic traits to some extent - it's almost required to live - but sociopath should be reserved for those who truly become it - Bundy, Dahmer, etc.

So, I've been listening to this hokie book called Mars and Venus on a date.
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 17, 2018:
The Tyranny of Malice / Joseph Berke A bit repititious, but had me questioning and ultimately altering my approach to situations and assessing others reactions to my being. . Zen Guitar / Philip Toshio Sudo Generally about playing music but a good little read on outlook and how to manage life. "Pick it up. Tune it. Play it." . The unbearable lightness of being / Milan Kundera Just a great book. Film version sucked.

No. Turned and walked. Another guy comes up asking did I want a good time. At that point I decided to wait in the station. . Glad your trip was better.
