Most Protestant Christians don't buy into the teachings of Jesus. The Old Testament is what they love and it is chock full of hate and murder. It is an incredibly violent and hateful book.
Sticks48 replies on Apr 26, 2018:
@Lostwax Do you not pay attention to what they say and what they do. My proof is my eyes and my ears. Just because someone claims to be a Christian doesn't mean they are a Christian. I have known a handful of Christians who walk the walk, my Grandmother was one of them. I respect those people. The rest of them seem to hang onto the Old Testament, which is a Jewish book, not a Christian book, to find justification for hatred, revenge, and persecution. ☺

@Byrd There is no reason to be sorry. I just don't buy it. Everybody's definition of wild and crazy is different. :)

How many of you older people listen to current pop music, or is it only "noise" to you?
Sticks48 comments on Apr 15, 2018:
Popular music took a bad turn in the 90's. Grunge was just people who couldn't play their instruments and by the 2 thousands country music turned into bad pop music. There is a finite number of ways chords can be put together and it has pretty much been done.
Sticks48 replies on Apr 15, 2018:
@nvrnuff They play at a high school level at best. They may have been better than that, but it is not the way they played. I have never heard a grunge band and thought any of them were competent much less great players. If it moves you it moves you, and that is what counts.
Is science antithetical to religion?
nicknotes comments on Apr 15, 2018:
The Bible says Jesus walked on water. But Science says to not sink in water you must displace more than your weight in water. So Jesus had to have huge feet in order to walk on water.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned in life?
Spinliesel comments on Apr 15, 2018:
It is tattooed across my back: Sá sem lifir án aga, deyr án heiðurs - he who lives without discipline dies without honor.
Sticks48 replies on Apr 15, 2018:
Discipline is boring, honor is subjective, so l will continue to make it up as l go along. :)

If you’ve been friends for awhile...won’t work. If you casually know each other, can work.
Sticks48 replies on Apr 15, 2018:
It can work either way. I have done both.

Should there even be the concept of a "billionaire"?
Sticks48 comments on Apr 14, 2018:
There was a report in the Wall Street Journal a couple of years stating that 63% of America's wealth is inherited. Like Warren Buffett said in the 50's, the rich paid up to 90% on part of their earnings and they still got wealthy. I am assuming that is how they paid for the interstate highway ...
Sticks48 replies on Apr 15, 2018:
@Countrycuz666 l have a problem with most people. I reference Buffett because what he as it pertains to this subject. :)

Would you like to live simply?
Sticks48 comments on Apr 14, 2018:
That is pretty much how l have lived my adult life. Free from adult supervision. 99% of the time l eat when l want and sleep when l want. I haven't worn a watch since the 70's. The only places where l need to be on time are gigs and my annual physical. For me life is about freedom.

Has anybody changed careers mid-life?
Sticks48 comments on Apr 14, 2018:
Not in midlife, but in my 20's. I was in advertising, working in radio, outdoor, and at an agency. At 23 l was the advertising director for 7 Woolco stores in Austin and San Antonio. It would be difficult maybe impossible without a degree in this world. I hated it. At 25 l gave it up to play music ...

@Plainjane There will be stress in most jobs, but if you love what you do it is easier to deal with, for me anyway.
