I'm sorry to hear that, but when you live in a place that is interesting and or beautiful it eventually happens. When l moved to Austin it was a beautiful small city of 250,000. It know over a million and still growing. The whole corridor between Austin and San Antonio is the fastest growing area in the country. The same thing happened when l lived in Taos and it is growing now that so many people can work from home they are moving to the cool places.

There were chaplains in the military who had become atheist after seeing the horrors of Vietnam and continued in their jobs because, one it was all they new and liked the military, and two, they felt what they did was needed for those soldiers who did believe. I have also read about a group of priests and pastors who no longer believe but have done this so long they have no idea what else they can do. I knew a doctor a few years ago who didn't like being a doctor, and he was a really good doctor, who wised he had become a lawyer. By the time he figured this out he had too much time and money invested in med school to change career paths. You as much and maybe even more as anyone l have had conversations with know it is not a black and white world.

My best friend and next door neighbor when l was in elementary school had a sister with polio. I remember going to his house and seeing her in an iron lung. I had a freind in high school who had been afflicted with polio. I hadn't known Leon Russell had had polio until we toured with him. While living in Taos we had a lead guitarist and close friend who had polio as a child. When he started having reacuring symptoms he jumped off the gorge bridge falling 600 feet to his desth. I am very aware of the scourge that is polio. I have lost one friend and an ex-brother in law to covid, and have another friend in the hospital with covid. The doctor doesn't think she will make it. I am very militant about people getting the vaccine and have eliminated people from my life who refuse to get the shots. They will not be let back in.
