@Allamanda There is no "Western" society influenced more on daily basis in our laws and societal mores by religion than the United States. The first people to settle here were SUPER religious and regardless of what is in the Constitution, it has had little power to stem the tide of overzealous Christians and their leaders. I don't know if you have spent any time in the states and if you have where you have spent that time, but believe me in so much of this country the church has way too much power and influence. As far as I can tell listening to our friends here from Canada, Europe, and Australia, those societies seem to have put religion in proper perspective, not so here. Capitalism itself does not necessarily cause mental issues, but the way we have practiced it here does cause a lot of stress you don't see in countries where it is well regulated. I am not saying it is everything, although at one time I would think it was the main contributor. It seems to be following the urban/rural divide that looms so large in this nation. Just my observations.

@Allamanda It is a major factor in this country, but getting less so all of the time. Most mental illness, not genetic, is probably caused by family issues and those family issues have definitely been heavily influenced by religion in this country proably more than on any other modern society.

@Marionville Like Artie Shaw said something like,If you don't make a mistake sometimes, you aren't trying anything up there. For me music is about feel, not about the notes. It should change in subtle ways night to night depending on the mood of the band or the front man. I have had friends in bands, and they were good bands, that played their songs note for note every night. At first I was amazed because I'm not sure I can do that, nor do I want to. After I heard both bands three or four times I got bored with them, even though both bands were made up of highly skilled musicians. Too machine like for me at times.

@Bierbasstard Thanks for the songs. Nice stuff. I use my hands on the cajon most of the time in this trio. Sometimes I use plastic brushes. I put a door hinge on the base and I can put a kick pedal on there and play it with my heel. In the setup I have now I sit on the cajon with the snare and djembe in front of me. If I want a low fat snare drum sound I play the cajon with my left hand and the djembe with my right for the kick/bass sound. The small snare I use mainly with a brush, my hand for a thinner snare sound, or a childs drum stick for rim shots, and I can take the snare of and have a tom for a few of things. When we rehearse Fri I will send you a picture of the setup if you like.

I a use djembe in my acoustic rig. I have added a small 4x12 in. snare and my cajon to this set up. I use the djembe like a kick drum. With its warm deep tone it gives the impression of a bass line filling that hole in the sound with no bass player. I run it all through a two channel board and a self powered speaker.

Two and one we think had it in early January before we even knew what it was. I may have gotten it from her, but it was mild. One friend says she is doing better and one is on a ventilator. He is in his 70s so I don't know if he will make it or not.
An idea for your consideration.

You can't pardon someone who has not been convicted. There is no such thing as a pre-pardon.

@glennlab He still can't escape state law. No Presidential pardon power there.
So who's blocking who lately? Anyone?
Sticks48 comments on Jul 17, 2020:
I have blocked over 170 folks in the time I have been here, but it has been awhile. Only about 25 have been women.
Sticks48 replies on Jul 17, 2020:
@altschmerz Pretty much. Cuts way down on the number of alerts. There are certain triggers that will get someone automatically blocked.

@MissKathleen I really don't think that is going to be a problem. Minority registration is sky rocketing and even Republicans are going to vote for Biden. He is also losing those "educated" white women who voted for Rump. It won't be close.

@19dacar52 With what he has done in foreign policy dealing with Russia, North Korea, and pulling troops out of Germany. His letting a murderer convicted in a military court off scott free. Using troops in Washington against civilians.Yeah, they don't like him. Even if some did, do you realize how big the military is? You could never get enough Generals and Admirals to go along with it. It would be impossible. Military coups happen when you have an all powerful General running the military and that only happens in much smaller countries than ours and when they do it is to take over themselves and run things most often.

@azzow2 Wrong. My sister in law was in the medical field all of her life and she knows what masks work. Between masks and distancing we know it works. We have all the proof we need from other countries these work. The studio we work in is large. Light a match and try to blow it out with your mask on. If you can't, you have a good mask.

Not too bad in Wimberley. It is about 50/50 Dem/Repub, so the religious people are no prominent here. So many old Austin hippies and musicians have moved here over the years, so that has changed the makeup of this town. Now it is starting to change the makeup of other small towns around Austin as it has gotten very expensive to live there and folks are moving to the surrounding towns.
