A little less than half of those Dems identify as Progressive. About 30% of registered voters are Republicans. That leaves about 40% registered as Independents. Do the math. If you don't get a big bunch of Indies, you can't win. If you can't get the vast majority of Black voters, you can't win. Getting a Progressive President will change little. You would have to have a Progressive Congress, both House and Senate to pass anything considered progressive. That will not happen. You would not be able to get all Democrats in the congress to vote for Progressive ideas. Until most of the Boomers die, it will be impossible to get the stuff Sanders, Warren, and I would like to see happen. @Athena I still don't get your point. Politics is dirty! WOW! Who would have thought? As I said I grew up in politics. When it isn't dirty is the rarity. Dirty is and always has been what politics is. There have been maybe three people, as far as I can tell, who have held the office of the President who seem to have had no baggage when elected and that would be Eisenhower, Carter, and Obama. Why this obsession with Clinton? She isn't running. I am about as left as you can get. We should have a national health care system. Medicare for all ain't it. Medicare is too expensive for the individual and still involves insurance companies and that part needs to go. Maybe we should have free college for everyone, but that is not going to happen. State universities are big business and that won't change. State universities should be made affordable to all and more govt grants should be available to the poor, If we don't fix the wage gap in this country none of this will matter. MONEY rules everything in America and that will be our downfall if it isn't corrected somehow. Big changes come with generational change. When my generation is gone those things might happen, and maybe not. I don't care about who you know in Washington. Anyone paying even the slightest attention knows people inside the beltway know very little about the rest of the country. It has been that way for decades. Blocking is the best feature on this site. If I couldn't get rid of the clutter and noise I would have left long ago. If Bernie gets the nod I will vote for him. I don't believe he will get it. You can be a socialist in Canada. This ain't Canada. If he would not wave that flag around so much, it would help him. I do believe that heart problem really hurt him. It is one thing to be old, it is another to look old.

My father ran for the house. His pallbearers included the a former US Senator and Governor of Oklahoma. I DO know American politics. You are right, money rules our politics thanks to one of the worst decisions in the history of the Supreme Court, and until that changes we will remain a mess. It is what it is and the changes that are necessary require either a Constitutional amendment, damn near impossible to get, or change laws or rules the the Congress would have to change which would not work in their favor.

i have no problem wishing people a Merry Christmas. I just respond in kind with whatever the say. They are just being kind. Why would that piss me off. Christmas means different things to different people, and to some it means nothing at all. To me it means pretty lights.
