@Lizard_of_Ahaz I know because all of the voting info is in the computers, age, gender, upscale folks, poor folks, it is all there and they report it after every election. It doesn't come from the DNC. Corporate America is not going away anytime soon. All you can do is regulate it. We don't really do that anymore. Get the big money out of politics, and things will start to change. Until that happens we are screwed period. The stupid people are the people who don't vote., and then bitch about it. When they complain there is no difference in the two parties, that is as ignorant a statement as a person can make. I have house plants smarter than that. Tell me we wouldn't be better off without a 5 to 4 Conservative leaning Supreme Court. That carries way more weight than whether Clinton or Sanders were President. Capitalism is here to stay. I am all for a Social Democracy which includes Capitalism, which means corporations. Do they need to be regulated? Of course they do, and when those regulations were in place they worked very well. Don't talk about Clinton people not letting go, when th Sanders people can't let go either. Sanders will not get the nod again. His recent heart problem is not going to help. Also when you keep claiming to be a socialist it scares too many people. They think of Communism and it scares them. You and I might know there is a huge difference, but millions of Boomers still carry that fear with them, and it turns them away from Sanders. My fear is if Sanders doesn't get the nod his base will get all pissy again and fuck it up again. There is only one really important thing at this juncture and that is no more trump. Four more years of trump and we may never recover. I don't care who the Dems nominate, I like all of them just fine, they will get my vote. Voting for the Green Party is pissing in the wind. If that dip shit Nader had not let his ego get in the way and dropped out, Bush would never have won and we would be in a much different world today. I hope all of those never going to win little piss ant parties stay out of it this time.

@Lizard_of_Ahaz I know for a fact many Sanders people did not vote out of protest and some did vote for trump. There is no excuse for that. She did mess up by not going to certain states and that was probably her handlers as they tend to fuck up a lot of candidates in the past. Because someone doesn't come to your state is also another childish reason to not vote for someone. I have never cared if a candidate comes to my state or not. I don't base my vote on their visit. I don't base my vote on whether I like them. I am not spending Christmas and Thanksgiving with them. Americans are basically ignorant, childish motherfuckers. For all of those people who voted for trump who are losing their farms or businesses, I don't care. Anyone too stupid, or too lazy to figure out what kind of person trump was from the day he declared he was running deserve what they get. Elections have consequences. The Supreme Court was the biggest reason to vote for whomever the Democrats nominee was. Stupid fucking people.

@Allamanda I can see if you live in a place as small as the Virgin Islands, it would be much easier to envision the type of world in which most of us think we should be living. You would be the thirty sixth largest town in Texas. When you start dealing with large cities, it is a different story. When I moved to Austin in 1971 the population was 250,000. It is now over 1,000,000 and growing. Because of the growth it also got expensive. For those people who could no longer afford to live there, they looked to the small towns around Austin. Now, instead of spending 30 minutes one getting two work, it now takes an hour or more. Now they spend twice as long in their cars polluting the air. Whatever changes happen will be slow, because that is the way folks are. Big changes happen when a generation passes on.

@Allamanda Most people in this country are moving to the cities. 80% of Americans live in urban areas. !00 years ago it was 50/50. The number of small farms is shrinking. That is fact. It has been predicted with climate change the farming in Central Texas will disappear by mid-century. It will be arid like West Texas, but there won't be enough water to irrigate like they do in West Texas as they do now. Most of the water for irrigation in West Texas and Western Oklahoma come from an aquifer in Nebraska which is down by half.

Sticks48 replies on Oct 7, 2019:
@Allamanda Younger people don't want to be farmers. That trend has gone on for decades. The work is hard and the hours suck. The equipment for farming is getting more sophisticated and really expensive. The small farmer can't compete with corporate farming, just as mom and pop stores couldn't compete with Walmart. As climate change alters the landscape and certain areas won't be able to sustain farms any longer, this will create more corporate farming. These things are not going to change in the near future. You can't compare a country of this size and population with other countries. Our culture is unlike any other western country. Most western countries are the size of our states and have one, maybe two large cities, while we have them everywhere. All of these changes will cost billions of dollars. We can't even fix our existing roads and bridges. That takes tax dollars and Americans hate paying taxes. Americans want everything to be cheap or free.

Public support for Trump's impeachment is higher than it was for Nixon and Clinton [axios.com]
CommonHuman comments on Oct 6, 2019:
I never understood the big deal with Clinton. So he got busy in the oval office, who cares? 45 has done objectively horrible stuff far more worthy of impeachment.
Sticks48 replies on Oct 6, 2019:
If you eliminated all the Presidents who had affairs there would have been no Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, Kennedy, or Johnson, and those are just the ones we know about. All did some pretty good stuff.

Yoko Ono, wrote the album from which this came in six days at the age of 76.
Sticks48 comments on Oct 6, 2019:
I have been a professional musician for over 45 years. I have never heard one player or one singer say Yoko was the tiniest bit influential in the world of music. I have never heard anyone mention her name. She can't sing and she can't write. If she had not married Lennon, no one would have known ...
Sticks48 replies on Oct 6, 2019:
@Deiter Because she has no discernible musical talent that I have ever seen. I know she was part of an avant-garde art scene, but it is a very small audience that pays any attention to that scene. If you admire her that is fine, but to try and make her something she isn't is something else.
I just blocked two people which is a rarity for me.
Sticks48 comments on Oct 6, 2019:
Block away. I am probably the king of blocking on this site. You can't fix stupid so block it. If enough people block them, eventually they will go away. @GreatNani I don't really use facebook except to stay in touch with folks I know or to keep up with local goings on. I don't block folks just because they disagree with me. It has to be something like the folks you blocked. Female bashing, male bashing, gay bashing, trump lovers, and gun nuts will get blocked without a thought.

Sticks48 replies on Oct 6, 2019:
@NHjulie I Googled it and they actually did pretty good under Bledsoe. Bill was hired in 2000 and Drew was injured in 2001, and then Brady took over. So he really didn't have him long enough to really judge. Bledsoe also came into the 2001 AFC Championship game after Brady was injured and led them to victory.

Sticks48 replies on Oct 6, 2019:
@NHjulie I think they are the perfect combo, but Belichick would be a great coach regardless. He is the best I have ever seen at putting his players and team in the best position to win. Everytime he would lose a great coordinator in the early years the Patriots demise would be predicted and of course they were wrong. Now no one talks about that stuff because they know it is all about Belichick. Remember when Cassel replaced an injured Brady and the Pats won 11 games. Bill is the best .

So I guess I excelled at faking it. :)

Sticks48 comments on Oct 3, 2019:
Discourage. If one is going into the military go with the Air Force. It is more like a job. If you are in a combat unit in the Army or Marines, unless you are in a war zone, that is some boring shit.
Sticks48 replies on Oct 4, 2019:
@Beowulfsfriend That is why I said if you are in a combat unit. Once you join there is no guarantee you will get the school you want. I have seen that happen.

Sticks48 replies on Oct 4, 2019:
@KKGator The great thing about executive orders is they can be blocked by the courts just as have many of trump's. They can also be reversed by the next President. He can't overturn court rulings. In the last year of popular Presidents like Reagan and Clinton, they are lame ducks getting nothing done. It is very tiring for sure.

Sticks48 replies on Oct 4, 2019:
@KKGator What do you think he can do? If trump gets put out of office, he would have less than a year to do anything and a Dems run House who won't cooperate with him on anything. He is a bad man, but he is not a reckless nut job like the President and he could never get the trumpsters to support him the way they do trump. He doesn't have that kind of charisma. He wouldn't even be a lame duck President. He would be a dead duck President. What worries me if trump is actually run out of office is who the Republicans nominate. I don't believe trump can win. People are really tired of him and that will drive a lot of people to vote. Without him will the Dems get out and vote. That is my concern.

@KKGator It wouldn't matter. There is no time for two impeachment trials. I don't know why people fear Pence. What is it people think he would do. He is one of the least powerful people in Washington. He would have to deal with a Democratic House. He would be as impotent as trump is stupid.

What effect will impeachment proceedings have on the 2020 elections?
Sticks48 comments on Sep 30, 2019:
The trump supporters are always riled up. It may keep trump so distracted he won't do anything. That would be fine with me. The House has passed some 150 bills that McConnell won't bring to the floor. You can't stop something that isn't moving.
Sticks48 replies on Oct 3, 2019:
@itsmedammit He would not have much time left and would still have to deal with the Dems controlling the House. I don't believe he could whip the base into a frenzy like trump can.
