@NoPlanetB True. I do admit the time probably goes faster for the person on the road than for the person at home. It can be good though. I found if the relationship was right you didn't spend a lot of time arguing about trivial things. You were so happy to see each other, you didn't want to waste the time you had.

Sticks48 replies on Oct 7, 2019:
@Allamanda I can see if you live in a place as small as the Virgin Islands, it would be much easier to envision the type of world in which most of us think we should be living. You would be the thirty sixth largest town in Texas. When you start dealing with large cities, it is a different story. When I moved to Austin in 1971 the population was 250,000. It is now over 1,000,000 and growing. Because of the growth it also got expensive. For those people who could no longer afford to live there, they looked to the small towns around Austin. Now, instead of spending 30 minutes one getting two work, it now takes an hour or more. Now they spend twice as long in their cars polluting the air. Whatever changes happen will be slow, because that is the way folks are. Big changes happen when a generation passes on.

They go where the jobs are and the company's go where the talent is.

Sticks48 replies on Oct 7, 2019:
@Allamanda Most people in this country are moving to the cities. 80% of Americans live in urban areas. !00 years ago it was 50/50. The number of small farms is shrinking. That is fact. It has been predicted with climate change the farming in Central Texas will disappear by mid-century. It will be arid like West Texas, but there won't be enough water to irrigate like they do in West Texas as they do now. Most of the water for irrigation in West Texas and Western Oklahoma come from an aquifer in Nebraska which is down by half.

If everybody moved to the country, it would be overcrowded, and the cities would be the place to be. This is a no win situation.
Sticks48 replies on Oct 7, 2019:
@Allamanda Younger people don't want to be farmers. That trend has gone on for decades. The work is hard and the hours suck. The equipment for farming is getting more sophisticated and really expensive. The small farmer can't compete with corporate farming, just as mom and pop stores couldn't compete with Walmart. As climate change alters the landscape and certain areas won't be able to sustain farms any longer, this will create more corporate farming. These things are not going to change in the near future. You can't compare a country of this size and population with other countries. Our culture is unlike any other western country. Most western countries are the size of our states and have one, maybe two large cities, while we have them everywhere. All of these changes will cost billions of dollars. We can't even fix our existing roads and bridges. That takes tax dollars and Americans hate paying taxes. Americans want everything to be cheap or free.

@NHjulie I think they are the perfect combo, but Belichick would be a great coach regardless. He is the best I have ever seen at putting his players and team in the best position to win. Everytime he would lose a great coordinator in the early years the Patriots demise would be predicted and of course they were wrong. Now no one talks about that stuff because they know it is all about Belichick. Remember when Cassel replaced an injured Brady and the Pats won 11 games. Bill is the best .

@KKGator What do you think he can do? If trump gets put out of office, he would have less than a year to do anything and a Dems run House who won't cooperate with him on anything. He is a bad man, but he is not a reckless nut job like the President and he could never get the trumpsters to support him the way they do trump. He doesn't have that kind of charisma. He wouldn't even be a lame duck President. He would be a dead duck President. What worries me if trump is actually run out of office is who the Republicans nominate. I don't believe trump can win. People are really tired of him and that will drive a lot of people to vote. Without him will the Dems get out and vote. That is my concern.

My fathers best friend was a chiropractor. I had a headache one night when Jack was there. He made a slight adjustment and it was gone. I went to a chiropractor/physical therapist twice years ago as I injured my back in the 80's and it flares up every once in awhile and he did a fantastic job. ...

Sometimes I think these guys are just trolling. I don't want to believe anyone is this stupid.
Sticks48 comments on Oct 1, 2019:
There are a lot of people this stupid, like millions of really stupid people in this country alone. How else would you explain the election of trump? But that is an incredibly high level of stupid.:)
Sticks48 replies on Oct 1, 2019:
@OldMetalHead To stay home and not vote is another kind of stupid. Anyone who thinks we are better off with trump instead of Clinton is an even higher level of stupid. There is not one sane argument for the election of trump. From his first speech going after Hispanic people to making fun of the gentleman with th disability, if that didn't do it there is something incredibly wrong with the people who thought, "yeah, that's my guy." :)

What effect will impeachment proceedings have on the 2020 elections?
Sticks48 comments on Sep 30, 2019:
The trump supporters are always riled up. It may keep trump so distracted he won't do anything. That would be fine with me. The House has passed some 150 bills that McConnell won't bring to the floor. You can't stop something that isn't moving.
Sticks48 replies on Oct 1, 2019:
@itsmedammit It wouldn't matter. He would be a lame duck President with even less power than trump. He probably wouldn't even get his parties nomination for 2020. Of course if that happened, who knows who they would nominate. It would be interesting and a little scary.

We men take what we can get. In the 50's it was big boobs, full butt, small waist. Twiggy came along and thin was in. Okay, we can work with that. Then the no shaving trend took over for a few years. @StarvingArtist It is definitely a different world in a small town. When I lived in Taos I learned about the rumor mill that goes on in small towns so I have tried to avoid that here. Meeting people is no problem since I have been playing music here for six or seven years, and I have met maybe three or four women I was interested in, but I really took my time and found ther were things that made me back off before it got intimate. I am glad I handled it that way.
