The same can be said for a national health care system. For all of the bragging Boomers like to do about what we changed, we have been running things for awhile and done a really piss-poor job of it. That first guy or gal that banged two rocks or two logs together to create a rhythm is your founding father or mother of music. Now you can start working your way up through all of the influences in music. It will take awhile. Freddie King, Robert Cray, and Delbert McClinton have taken blues closer to the edge of where hard core blues fans don't want their blues bands to go than anyone I can think of off hand.

There are several artists who have impacted the music itself including Johnson, Beatles, Louis Armstrong (given credit for the creation of improvisation), Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, Willie and Waylon. All of these artists took their genre of music somewhere it had not been before. All having a great influence on a lot of those musicians following in their footsteps.

I was just giving you a little needling because it seemed like they were all you were posting at first. Of course you must know by now I do respect your eclectic tastes in music. @Marionville That, plus forcing everyone else to write better material, making bands put more quality songs on an album. Back then record labels would put one maybe two good songs on an album and the rest would be filler. I hear Beatles licks and vocal parts from bands in their 20's and 30's. They may not even know who first played those licks. They changed the way everyone recorded and pushed bands to be more experimental in the studio. They changed the size of the venues a rock band or show could fill. I mean they single handedly changed the music industry. That will never happen again for sure.
