@Marionville I like a lot of songs from the 80's. I know a lot of people think it was too keyboard oriented, but there were a lot of songs that didn't lean heavily on keyboards. Even some of the keyboard heavy songs were still good songs with some great melodies. I have played some of those songs on occasion with one or no keyboards and they still work. A nice song is a nice song.

The music scene is large, but SXSW has brought so many musicians here, there are more musicians than venues which makes it difficult to make any money.

I love the Stock Yards. We played so many places there including Billy Bobs. We even got chased down the street that night by a bull that had gotten loose. Only in Ft Worth. I am sure it will be fun. It always was.

It was a place where all of these different people from all walks of life hung out together and listened to music together. It was a very special city. In all my years on the road, playing all over the country, it was truly unique. Change is inevitable. I am grateful to have been there when I was.

@Heidi68, @GreatNani I live about 30 miles outside of Austin in the Hill Country and it is just far enough away and the traffic is so horrible, it is not worth dealing with. It has also gotten incredibly expensive. It went from the most reasonable city to be in to the most expensive city in Texas in about a decade. Things change.

@Heidi68 I lived in Austin from 71 to 80 and 84 to 91. It was a most wonderful city. When I moved back to this area in 2001 it was totally fucked up. Horrible traffic and getting worse every year with no real way to fix it due to past mistakes. It has become increasingly expensive, pushing people, especially minorities and the lower middle class out of town. I am glad I lived there when I did. Ft Worth, even though it is still a red city has always been a great music city. We spent the early part of our career playing in the Stock Yard area. I love San Antonio too. The River Walk is like going to another place other than Texas. That is funny we like the same cities, although Austin not so much anymore for me. I like Galveston now too.
