I believe these states are trying to and passing these bills is to force the Supreme Court to take one of them up in hopes the Court will overturn Roe v Wade. They feel this court will do just that. I'm not so sure.

@thinktwice I'll bet that was scary. I just figured if the trailer moved the woods would stop it from going very far. The flowers are amazing. We had winter rains which makes for great wildflowers, and now the rains are keeping everything very green. We get two springs here. One in the spring and one in the fall.

@thinktwice It didn't flood here. I did get caught in a flood here three or four years ago. I was looking at it rise as I stood in the doorway of my travel trailer. It stopped about three or four inches from the door. I did lose a vehicle in that one. Most of the really bad weather has been north and east, which is normal for hear. I imagine as big as Austin is now, the heat coming off the city is affecting weather patterns. We are having a beautiful wild flower season.

Most women can go out any night they wish and get laid. Men can not. I know women cheat. When I was on the road in the 70's and 80's, married women were my favorites. I knew they only wanted to have fun. They weren't going to leave their husband for some broke musician. I have been with women who had strong sex drives and women who loved sex, but didn't have to have it every day. When the majority of women get into "sport fucking" like the majority of men can, then we will be very much alike. You know that won't happen. It would not be good for the species. You can go through all the social mumbo jumbo you want, but our brains are wired differently and that is a biological fact. They have the brain scans to prove it. Those reasons serve a purpose for us as a species, and will never change. If we were more alike, we would get along so much better than we do. :)

That is an unfair generalization. Looks are not superficial. They are a part of the equation. It is the way we are wired. You can wait till the end of humanity and that will never change. It is simple biology. That doesn't mean you have to be a beauty queen, just like most men aren't Cary Grant. I have never spent more than a few hours with anyone whom I didn't think was interesting and with luck funny too. Sometimes all we want is to get laid. I have been with women who just wanted to get laid and there is nothing wrong with that either as long as you are honest about it.

@VictoriaNotes I don't need studies. I just live and observe life. I have seen women throw everything away for love, but seldom for sex. I have seen men throw everything away for sex. There is very little men don't do along the way to impress women. They buy cars to impress, they choose careers to impress, and do things they think impress women, but most of the time probably don't. We are wired for different things. Most women are not wired or have any interest in what we used to call "sport fucking". For most men this is not a problem. Having sex with strangers is not difficult. There is a reason there are thousands and thousands of female prostitutes. There are not thousands and thousands of male prostitutes and the ones there are primarily service male clients. I am not saying women are not as sexual as men, but they certainly are not as driven by it as men.

@VictoriaNotes We live in a society where the church has influenced the way Americans view and deal with sexuallity. Men and women are very different when it comes to sex. A great number of folks of both genders either don't believe this or do't want to believe this. For women in my age range there is menopause. Not being a women I have no idea what that does to a woman's sex drive. I have heard women on this site talk about how their sex drive diminished after menopause. Men don't have anything comprable. Men are very visually oriented. They have drawn and painted naked women as soon as women started wearing clothes I imagine. :) There have been millions of magazines, videos, and websites, and yet men can't get enough. It is how the vast majority of men are wired. I wish we weren't that way. It would have saved me a lot of grief and money. @VictoriaNotes Actually you said both. If the physical part of a relationship is not that important to you, it is not important to you. That cannot be said for most men, and while women can fake that part of it if it is necessary or even if it is to make their partner happy, men can't really do that. It is pretty obvious when men are not attracted to someone. If I can't have the physical, mental and emotional connection, then that isn't a complete relationship for me, and I won't bother with it.

@VictoriaNotes I didn't say anything about society's standards. I have met beautiful women whom I did not think were sexy and women who weren't so beautiful who I found very attractive. It is the total package I am attracted to. As far as introverts go, since they are introverts, I am not likely to meet many if any since they tend not to socialize, so my experience is mainly reading what the self admitted introverts on this site talk about, and they do talk about the difficulty in meeting someone, and they talk about it a lot.

I don't buy this except for people who are not social at all. I have several female friends whose minds I love, but just as I have male friends whose mind I love. I have no desire to have sex with any of them. Why so many downplay the importance of attraction on this site is very puzzling. There is nothing in human history that shows it is not VERY important. It creates safe friendships which are not dissimilar to phone sex. It is limited involvement, which is fine if that is what folks want. It is definitely not for me. I don't need a half-assed friendship anymore than I need a half-assed relationship. :)

I asked the counselor at a bible camp “how do we know there is god”, when I was 8. The response was “ you just know” I found that woefully inadequate and my doubt only grew from there. Left the church at 13 and became agnostic, evolved to atheist in early 20’s.
